Quan, Cloe, and Marble
Location: Fort Klamath, Oregon, USA

Here are Quan, Cloe and Marble, the first time I got them out of the barn. Scrappy and Princess, the rest of the litter are still hiding. The kittens feral mother (really a kitten herself) had been killed by a car 12 days earlier. When we found that she had been nursing, it took us two days to find the kittens in an abandoned barn and then ten days of feeding and watering twice a day to get them to come out to where we could set a trap. The barn was so full of junk we could not get into it, but the day after this photo was taken we trapped all five and with the help of our four other cats we “humanized” them and found forever homes for three of them while we kept two of the boys, Marble and Quan. They are now one year old big strong boys, and we love them very much. What a great addition to our family!

Pounce??
Oh boy, I’m so excited I’ve never been first
That’s a great story. Thank you for finding homes for all the babies.
Way to go on your pounce! Such a great story too [if you overlook the momma cat being killed by a car!]These guys are really cute. It is a great start to my day knowing this litter of kitties are now pampered pets.
Bless you for all your efforts to rescue & socialize these precious babies. They are beautiful!
you are a true cat lover ,they are 2 cute!!!
3 cute cats in a barn? Heck, I’d live in a barn if I could be with those cats!
Kind of unrelated note: I think people should be careful about phrases like “2 cute” and other common internet-style abbreviations. Check out this report from the newsletter of the Institute for Safe Medical Practices:
Problem: A pharmacist questioned whether an order for magnesium chloride 64 mg TID [3 times a day if you're not 'in the know'] “2Day” meant to give the drug TID for 2 days or to give it “today” (2Day). It turned out “2Day” was “text messaging” shorthand for “today.”
Recommendation: Text messaging language is not appropriate for writing or transcribing medical orders due to potential misinterpretation.
(From here.)
The ISMP recommends this for transcribing medical orders, but I think there’s too much room for misinterpretation in TDK comments, too.
Oops, I meant “Institute for Safe Medication Practices”. How embarrassing!
Thanks for the info. I never thought about it.
isn’t it a shame? what’s worse is all the linguistic students learn the difference between descriptive and prescriptive grammar and then stop caring about social norms altogether.
I wouldn’t call this a social norm – just a case where a neologism actually does create ambiguity. I don’t think the descriptivists object to prescriptive grammar and diction when it has a demonstrable negative impact; they just object to calling one dialect inherently better than another.

I’m sorry to hear about their mother. She’d be thrilled that her litter was saved from the fate she suffered. Thank you for saving them. I bet they never want to go outside again (the stray I adopted only wants to go in the garage, never outside – but she will watch the birds and chipmunks with much interest).
I am in love with those faces. Bless you for saving them, and finding the others good homes.
Bless you, bless you bless you, they are so adorable, lucky them!
What a beautiful picture! I appreciate all that you went through to save this little family of orphaned kitties! You’re a real HERO and I applaud you!!!
Hello! What an intersting story. Thank you for finding them forever homes! All three kittens are very cute! Thank you for sharing them with us!
These are beautiful babies, and the search and rescue story is fantastic. So glad there is a happy ending even though mama didn’t survive.
Aw thank you for rescuing them.
Thank you for going the extra mile for these babies–you will be Blessed with many years of love from them. Poor mama kitty–sadly this is the fate of “outdoor” cats–they live an average of only 3 years.
What a great story! You certainly deserve
commendation for all the work you put into
finding and saving these babies. I’m sure their mother is thanking you from over the
Rainbow Bridge.
Ooh, I love them! What precious babes these are! I’m so sorry about the momma kitty, and bless you for being so patient in rescuing her kittens. I’ve adopted many strays and feral cats myself, and I’ve found them to be the most grateful sweet kitties of all. They realize how lucky they are to have a warm, safe home & lots of love.
Such cute kittens! I’m glad they’re in such a good home. Sorry to hear about the mother.
