We’d just started to look for a new kitten when Eric decided that we were his. He’s a ginger terror, and at that age where he’s into everything. He’s lived with us for three weeks, and has already cracked how to open doors and get into the fridge! He loves the older two cats, although the feeling isn’t returned, and he’ll cuddle up to our six-month-old baby very willingly.

I agree; orange boys rule! He sounds like my Miguel who is now 18 months and when he first arrived, we lost him behind the cooker! Miguel also chose me and I’m sure you wouldn’t be without Eric just like I wouldn’t be without Miguel. Ginger cats are the best looking!

Wait–HOW does he open the fridge? I’m in training to have a kitten one day, and I thought the lack of an opposable thumb meant the fridge was safe. None of the cats I’ve petsat for has shown any ability to open fridges…Anyway, that is a GREAT picture of an adorable, if dangerously talented kitten!

It’s amazing what kittens can get into! I have L Hooks on the doors to my pantry cabinets to keep out the nosy felines! I also had a pet store owner give me a foodcanister because it would be impossible for Onyx to get it open..he cracked that in one day! Little Eric has a look of being very curious…with his skills that could be downright dangerous!

Eric sounds like the perfect fit for your family. I hope the older cats learn to accept you soon. You may be coming on too strong little one. I’m very happy to hear you’re getting along with the baby. My Lena was adopted by a family expecting a child then gave her back because of “allergies”. It was definitely my gain. Now Lena always wants to sleep on me.
You be good to your family and show them lots of love and they will do the same for you.
