Everett
Location: Austin, Texas, USA

I adopted Everett in late May after a good friend of mine fostered him and his brother (who bit his tail and caused the temporary bald spot seen in the photo; his tail fur is growing back in now). He’s a very sweet little guy–I’ve never known such a snuggly cat. When he’s not feeling cuddly, he can be very rambunctious and tends to get into everything. He also loves sitting on my windowsill looking out at the neighbors and taking naps in the sunshine, and he is obsessed with his wet food, meowing like crazy every time he hears the can open.

What an adorable one!!
Pounce…Wednesday’s kit is full on fun! Cute too!
Their ability to hear and recognize the call of the can opener from all sorts of distances never ceases to amaze me.
Awwwwwwww, Everett looks like a sweetie! You are lucky he is a snuggler!
A Texas Cowboy you are Everett! I love snugglers, they are the best. I would like to snuggle with him when he’s free. *thinks of how to sneak to Texas for some Everett snuggles*
Texas LONGHORN cow kitty, indeed! What a sweet picture. Give Everett lots of snorgles and kitty kisses for me!
Hello Everett! You are very cute! You and one of my cats have something in common obession with the wet food. (lol) Thank you for sharing him with us!
Very nice face-paint on Everett. It’s always good when a kitty loves his food and likes to be rambuctious.
Everett sounds like he’s on his way to being ruler of the roost! Glad his tail is coming back.
Everett is a real cutie. I love moo kitties. He’s smart too. Knows the can opener means food. Enjoy him for a long time.
What a beautiful kitten!

Adorable face! He looks full of mischief.
Yes indeed, you are a beautifully marked kitty. May you enjoy Everett to the fullett.
Hmmm…I’ll be in Austin in just under a month…think Everett will fit in my suitcase?
What a cute little fuzzball! I think kitten ears are tuned to can openers and ziplock bags opening–better than the best radar/sonar that the military has! LOL!
Awwwwww..Your little Everett is just adorable. A real little cutie pie! So happy to hear that he has found a loving, furrever home with you. My cats are also fairly trained by the sound of the wet food can and appear out of nowhere to see what flavor is in store for them next. LOL! Headbonks ‘n’ Purrs!
Oh THUD….I’ve fainted. What a totally adorabe kitty. I’m in complete love.
What adorable fluffiness you are Everett! Another great adoption story on TDK!
What a baby beefcake! What fun for you. Enjoy.
Hello Everett, you look like lots of fun and trouble and cuddle-luv.
He’s a little cutie–I want to snorgle that soft, fluffy fur.
Ooooh! I’m in love! Everett looks so much like my cat Louie – he’s also a long-haired beauty boy.
cute!!!
Look at that sweet little face, no one could resist him, he could take over my house any time.
Beautiful coloring and marking!
I love his little smudgy nose. What a pretty little boy!
Everett, you’re such a beautiful boy! Your owner is lucky to have you.
Everett is adorable! But are you certain that’s male? The vast majority (something like 99.99%) of cats with both black and red fur are female… the only males with that sort of coloration have a genetic abnormality (XXY, whereas XX=normal female and XY=normal le).
The genes for color are in the X chromosome only. Cats that are black, grey, black and white, or grey and white, all have the BLACK chomosome in their Xs. Cats that are red, golden, red and white, or gold and white, all have the RED chromosome in their Xs. Calicos and tortoiseshells have one RED X and one BLACK X.
Incidentally, the difference between a calico and a tortoiseshell cat is that the calico has a WHITE gene and the torty has that gene set as NO WHITE. That’s the same thing that makes black and white as opposed to solid black, or red and white as opposed to solid red.
At any rate, male calicos and torties are few and far between. They all have the genetic abnormality known as Klinefelter’s syndrome, which causes them to be sterile.
My guess is that this adorable little ball of fuzz is going to grow into a sweet adult female cat. (I hope she’ll be spayed) Good luck with him/her!

What a sweetie!
Hey, this is Everett’s owner. Just thought I’d check in in response to Hamachi’s comment. Everett is indeed male. He was neutered a little over a week ago, so that’s quite definite. The next time I take him to the vet I’ll be sure to mention the possibility of Klinefelter’s. In the meantime, I guess I’ll just be thankful for his rare and special combination of qualities!
