Location: Caracas, Venezuela
I hand-raised Negrita and she’s now a happy playful three-month-old kitten, alas, with an enlarged heart. The vet says she could grow to be OK hopefully, with treatment and proper care – which I intend to give because I just adore her. Please send her all the good loving vibes she needs so her sweet little heart responds to treatment and improves. Or maybe even mends!

Negrita didn’t make it long after I submitted this, but this is the best memorial a loving, gorgeous, tenacious kitten like her could ever have.

The most blessed condolances to you for so many reasons. Thank you for being her Mama by hand feeding her, taking care of her like you did, as your love came through to her in your every gesture.
Upon reading the posts, I cried for a while as I’m sure many of the other posters did as well. Then a thought came to me. What we need is a prayer circle for sweet babies like Negrita. Time and time again, researchers have proven the power of prayer. If we could somehow do this it should be in Negrita’s name as I am sure she would like this for the kittens/kitties on this side of the bridge. Reading the posts here was inspiring and there are enough here where we could do this.

Negrita reminds me so much of the stray kitty my husband let me adopt. Their faces are so similar.

I did love Negrita best of all my babies just because I sensed something about her was so fragile since the moment she was born.
Smallest of the litter, with such a tiny head and huge eyes.
Never for a moment she seemed weaker though, she was brave, she was playful and demanding and affectionate and cuddly.
I am so honored and moved to see all your responses because my baby loved attention and I know she’s rolling and meowing oh so softly in spirit right now (:

Which is, needless to say, every kitten born into the world but sadly not all get them.

We once had a puppy with a heart murmur. The vet said she wouldn’t live to be a year old, but she lived to be fourteen. So hang in there, little Negrita!
