I want to add something to the recent comments on house cats vs. outdoor cats. Yesterday I saw a red-tailed hawk swoop down and help himself to a squirrel on our lawn. I even got a few photos, one of which I shared with a friend who’s a keen birder. He has often observed the same action where he lives and said it’s becoming more common. So, becoming a meal for a hawk is yet one more danger that awaits your outdoor cat, and one more reason–aside from coyotes and cars–to keep your cat indoors or on a protected patio. If the hawk can take a squirrel he can take a cat, unless perhaps you happen to own something the size of Garfield.
I agree too. Hawks, eagles, any bird of prey will gladly scoop up a cat or kitten. I’ve been told it’s actually very common, especially where there are neighborhoods that are close to state game lands and such. It would break my heart to have that happen to one of my kids. I freak out if they even get close to a door!
I know they do it where I used to live. I once found HALF of a kitten’s body on my patio–just horrible! I assumed it was either a hawk or an owl that did it.
Lady is adorable and it’s really great you rescued her, but I can’t picture the words “Houston” and “cold” together. In any case Lady looks really happy that you brought her inside where it’s warm and safe.
skueeeeeeeee I just want to scoop her up and giver her big kisses and snuggles, what a sweet little baby girl. Thanks for saving her,and hope you have her for more many healthy years.
Lady looks a lot like my Joey who showed up on my door step one afternoon a few years ago. He turned out to be a big, beautiful Norwegian Forest Cat and just as lovable as he can be.
Yay! too cute!
What a pretty kitten! thank goodness you were there to save her from the cold; please give dear little Lady snuggles and treats from me
She’s a beautiful little Lady. I’m glad you rescured her.

Thank you! I agree completely. Cats are not wild animals and belong indoors. No one will ever convince me otherwise.

Yes, it can get cold in the desert. When you’re used to 110 F summers, 30-40 F winters do feel quite cold.
She LOOKS like an angel, but I bet there’s a devil inside. teehee
My weakness for fuzzy grey kittens has me twitterpated! She is a total beauty. Thanks for your rescue.
