Loki
Location: Naples, Florida, USA

I adopted Loki who’s name was David when we adopted him but since David is my brother’s name, we knew he needed a new name. As I was reading off names I found on the internet to my daughter, little Loki perked up when he heard me say the name Loki so that’s what we call him. Loki fit right in our family as if he was meant to be with us. Out dogs just loved him and even our other cat Abby was warming up to him rather quickly. He found that he loved sleeping in my hair and didn’t like it at all when I had my hair in a ponytail. He would whine and cry and swat at my hair tie until I took my hair down so he could curl up in it. We adopted him on 1/31/2010 and he seemed to be a perfectly healthy 3 month old kitten. However, within a few days of Loki joining our family, he started to show signs that he was sick. By Saturday 1/6/2010, I rushed him to the vet with a fever of 105.9. He was given fluids and a shot of something else to fight any infection he may have.
We were sent home with orders to watch him carefully and to make sure he was eating and drinking, which he was doing just fine. By Monday afternoon, his condition had worsened and my mother rushed the little man back to the vet. Loki’s fever had spiked to 106.9 and they hospitalied him. He’s been there for 48 hours now and he is showing some signs of improvement. When I spoke to the vet this afternoon, he said it may be another day or two until lil Loki can come home. It’s funny how fast I got used to having a kitten sleeping in my hair and how much I miss him not being there. I’ll do whatever it takes and whatever it costs to save my little Loki as long as he’s not suffering. He’s just a teeny tiny little guy at 2.4 pounds but he sure is feisty. It took three vet techs to hold him down to give him IV fluids to help bring down him fever. If anyone out there prays, please say one for my little guy.
