Smudge
Location: Beebe, Arkansas, USA

Smudge is a half-Manx cat whose mother died less than 24 hours after he was born. He and his siblings were bottle fed by my friend who owned the mother, Avalon. We got Smudge when he was seven weeks old. He was so tiny that he looked to be around three weeks old. His hair was thin from not getting the nourishment he needed from his mother, and I used to tell my friend that he looked like a little bat without wings. I thought he was the cutest little ugly kitty ever, but I could see through all that and knew he’d be beautiful some day. Our little ugly duckling. He’s now a beautiful, sleek 11-lb. cat.

Birthday pounce! Smudge is my birthday daily kitten/bat
Happy Birthday MissKittyMom22! Smudge is a wonderful way to start any day and especially a rather dreary Monday! Sorry to hear about mommy cat Avalon. Hope your friend has one of Smudge’s sibs to brighten their day.
OMG-i want to give wee Smudge gentle kisses. I’m so glad he’s a strapping young boy and thanks ever so much for giving him a chance at life. That’s funny-Mr. Smudge did look like a “ugly” bat cat.
(Someone dropped a kitten off at my dad’s place. He said it was so ugly he couldn’t tell if it was a cat or a dog. Ugly was my dad’s beautiful Tortie girl for over 10 years)
Thank you so much for taking in the little duckling! I have one of them myself!
My furkids & I wish you & your furkid many happy, healthy years!
Smudge is adorable. Thank you for nurturing
this little one and providing him with a loving home.
Wow, the power of love and caring.
Smudge was an adorable kitten. ^ ^
Ahhh, the ugly duckling syndrome. I think he is absolutely adorable! I can only imagine how handsome he is now. Thank you and your friend for saving him and giving him his forever home. Wishing you many years of happiness together!
FUZZ misses his mommy

Awwww I bet smudge is a total sweetie, bless you for raising him from so small.
Aww poor little thing grew up to be a handsome guy! Smudge is a tiny little bat here. I am glad Smudge is doing great & that he’s gotten to be a big, happy boy.
thank you for caring for Smudge! He is just a precious little soul there in that photo, so pleased he grew up healthy, big and byootiful. Please give his 11lb self nice big cuddles from me
Lil Smudge is a purrfect choice for Halloween time since he kinda looks like a lil bat. So glad to hear he was cared for when he and his siblings lost their mother. My sweet Bubby had that googly eyed look when I found him, abandoned as well. Only two of his litter survived the ordeal. He spent the rest of his life making up for it and ended up about 12lbs. Smudge apparently plans to do the same
He’s gorgeous. and so are you for taking him on.
That’s a happy story for little Smudge. I have a 6 month-old grey kitten with the same name, so I’m very partial to yours. I hope you and Smudge have many more years together. Great job on beefing him up!
He is adorable..I love his sweet face.
A sad beginning
with a happy ending:) So glad that all the kittens were so well nursed and taken care of by their two legged mommey. He has the sweetest eyes. I would love to see a picture of the grownup Smudge. Blessings to you for the care you gave this poor little guy!
Blessings to your friend who stepped in to care for the kittens. It must have been very hard as she grieved for the mother.
Little Smudge does look a bit unusual in his picture. But you saw his potential and now have a beautiful cat. Enjoy!
Oh these stories are breaking my heart, but so glad you saved him.
I love a happy ending and a rags-to-riches story!!
An adorable ugly! Just want to cuddle him to the max!
It’s been Smudge week! Sweet, sweet little guy, not ugly at all. Thanks for making my week a little brighter, Smudgie
The ugly ones always turn out to be the most beautiful.
He has such a great story, though it’s so sad his mother died so soon.
