Pyewicket
Location: Rochester, Minnesota, USA

Pyewacket came to me at age three… as in three days old. She had been found, umbililical still in place, in the mouth of a male dog that was playing with her like a toy, by two fiends of mine. My friends are allergic to cats, and had no idea how to care for Pye, and it wasn’t until two days later that I heard about their problem. I told them to get the kitten to me immediately, which they did, and I took her straight to a vet. The vet wasn’t very hopeful, but gave me what advice she could. She was down to three ounces, and not doing very well. I ended up bottle-feeding her every two hours for what seemed forever. Obviously Pye survived. The picture here is of her at about six weeks. She had just run out of "play", and did what she is still so good at: plopping down wherever she is for a snooze. Pye is now two years old, and a fabulous original. Just ask her. Her forever home is with a special friend who thought Pyewacket was about the cutest kitten ever seen. (My two cats, both rescues, are about all I can handle on a permanent basis.) I am told she is a great helper with warm laundry, great at warming beds, and the terror of dust-bunnies everywhere.

Sunday pounce!
What an awesome story of survival & love. I’m so glad Pye has thrived & is in a loving forever home thanks to you. My Charlotte – in my profile – was also bottle Fed & loves warm laundry. Black & white babes are very loving in my experience & full of personality.
Such a heartwarming story of a gorgeous wee bundle. Bless you for doing all you did to save wee Pyewicket.
FYI for viewers outside the U.S., Pyewacket (not wicket) is the name of Kim Basinger’s cat familiar in the late 50s era movie Bell Book and Candle. She plays a young witch in modern day manhattan who falls in love with Jimmy Stewart. Its a rather sweet film.
This Pyewacket looks like a good little familiar! Worth all that effort!
With a nod to Arcalian:
Bell, Book & Candle FUZZ!
Concats on rescuing this beautiful kitty.
I’m partial to tuxedos and my first kitty ever is named Pie! She’s now 15 and going strong, despite some challenges over the years. May you have many happy, healthy years with this sweet girl.
AWW! She is a little sweetie pie! I’m so glad to hear that she is doing well.
Absolute preciousness!!! Pye looks like she had this human trained well right away…hold my head and don’t move while I take a nap. I have held many a kitten head just like that

OH crap! Right. Kim novak.
Both sultry blonds. But Kim Basinger wasn’t even born then! Alfred Hitchcock is turning in his grave.
