Location: Delray Beach, Florida, USA
This is Sheldon. He belonged to a neighbor who let him be an indoor/outdoor cat from when he was just a few months old. He would come to my house every day and hang out with the strays – and eat their food!
Sadly, he was hit by a car and killed a few months ago, and I miss seeing him every day. Because of him, my boyfriend and I rescued his three month-old look-alike from a life on the streets just a few days after Sheldon passed away.
We named him Sheldon Jr. in honor of Sheldon.

Sheldon was a real cutie – what a lovely black velvet coat he had on him. I think it’s likely safer to keep kitties as indoor cats, there are just so many dangers out there. Thank you for sharing him with us; may you have many happy years with Sheldon jr

Sheldon is gorgeous. We have a black kitty too, and they always come with nine lives, so there is nothing to worry about! Lots o snuggles!

Thanks all! I miss having Sheldon coming for a meal, petting him and hearing his purr, and watching him playing like the crazy kitten he was – always pouncing on the adult strays, swatting at their tails, chasing lizards. I’m thankful for having Sheldon Jr in my life now, though, and like to think Sheldon the First had something with that.
Sheldon (RIP) looks as handsome & sleek as a black panther. Those kitties in Florida love their lizards don’t they.

Little Sheldon Jr is safe indoors at my boyfriend’s. And my own two at home. I’d never let them be indoor-outdoor cats.
It’s always a dilemma – whether to allow them to have a “natural” life outdoors, with its stimulations and dangers, or to keep them inside where they’re safe. I always had indoor/outdoor cats until a neighborhood creep set out poison, killing my beloved 9-year-old Mac (who looked so much like Sheldon) along with many others. So now there’s no question – they stay inside with their cat stand and toys!
Thanks for taking care of Sheldon. I don’t know why they let cats outside like that. I’m glad you rescued another kitty in his name. I hope we can see Sheldon Jr here.
Hopefully Sheldon Jr will have his day as a Daily Kitten star, as well – until then, you can imagine him looking just like Sheldon the First
I’m so sorry about Mac, Turquoise – how horrible! I let my Bob out on a leash in the backyard sometimes when I’m outside. He does love being outside, and this is the only way it’s safe for him.

GD, I have an 11 year old tuxedo who weighs 20 lbs, he is the love of my life and he stays in except when he goes out with me, wearing his harness. They sure do make life better, don’t they??
