Location: Blanch, North Carolina, USA
We found Max near our home on Halloween – someone had yanked his tail off. The vet removed what was left, made him an honorary manx, and he has made a wonderful recovery. Max is a joy!
He is currently entered in the Petfinder Luckiest Pet of 2013 Contest & would appreciate votes. If he wins, all proceeds will go to the Goathouse Cat Rescue in Pittsboro, NC, & Silver Cloud Special Cat Sanctuary in Blaine, Washington. What is this world coming to? Who would pull a cat’s tail off. I’m so thankful that Max now has a loving family. Orange tabbys are wonderful, loving babies. I wish you and Max many years of love and happiness. And yes … he got my vote too.

I’m horrified that someone could be so mean to such a sweet and handsome fellow! And I’m so glad he has found a home with loving people who know what a gem he is!

Halloween is a very bad time for any animal that’s left outdoors. Crazy/sick people think it’s funny to torture them. It breaks my heart that Max suffered so. Bless you for caring for this dear, sweet boy.
Hi everyone! I’m Max’s Aunt Cindi & I am so so so so so very excited that Max is the star of today. My mom had major surgery today & I came on here for some cuteness to see Max!!! The vet believes Max was born without part of his ear. It wasn’t bleeding or damaged like his tail when Jo found him on Halloween. Please check out Max’s Facebook page & vote for him in the Petfinder contest. I know the shelter would greatly use the award money & Max is indeed a lucky boy to have the meowme he has!

It’s horrific what the human species is capable of to victimize the weakest that deserve our adoration and protection.
I’m already voting for Dottie who is another victim of cruelty. Dottie was found in a parking lot. Both of her rear feet had been cut off along with her left ear. Her owner found a prosthetic company that was willing to try to make Dottie a pair of legs so she can have a normal life.
Otherwise Max would definitely have my vote. I so wish there was a 2nd prize.

Bobosmom is right, Halloween is a dangerous time for companion animals to be outside. I pray that the sick excuse for a human who harmed Max is never able to harm anyone again. And I pray for all the rescued animals, and for their rescuers. Will happily vote for Max! I live near Blaine, WA, site of one of the potential winning rescues, though I volunteer for SPOT (Saving Pets One at a Time.)
I can’t say anymore about the jerks who tortured Max that hasn’t been said. Orangies are the most loving guys around and I’m so grateful a wonderful hoomin adopted him. Thank you for giving Mr. Max a furever, loving home. Yes, I will vote for him.

Animals can teach us so much about forgiveness, because I can’t forgive anyone who would hurt a baby cat. So glad Max has found a great home and warm laps! (I tried to vote but they won’t let me…because I do not have CABLE tv! Never been discriminated on for *that* reason before.)
Poor Max! what a miserable start to life. I certainly hope not more than a little karmic payback went back to the awful people who hurt him. How wonderful you found him and helped him thrive, he’s gorgeous. He has my vote! Please give him many cuddles from me
I voted for Max! I couldn’t read the stories about abused animals. I get sick to my stomach. My heart just broke when I read about what had been done to your Max! God bless you for taking him in and God bless Max. I am so glad he has a safe forever home where he is loved.

My Renzo (black, to boot) ran away on Halloween over 4 years ago – it was a beautiful day and I was hanging washing out. I was terrified that some sadist had hurt him or killed him. He returned 5 weeks later, when winter was starting to set in. Emaciated, but he is still there now at almost 17. But getting old…
I can’t say anything printable about people who torture animals… want to sic a hungry tiger on them.
I assumed that Max had just been in a little fight with another cat. Renzo has an ear like that too.
