Your gonna stretch out and take a nap? Let me join you! Mmmmmm this bed is comfy!

The serenading kitty is no longer outside my window…he is inside…waiting for monday when I can take him to the no kill shelter. He is very affectionate and likes getting his belly scritched… lots and lots of head bumps and constant purring.

As for my two cats, Chessie tolerates him, while Stormy wants nothing to do wtih the newcomer. In fact, She Growled at me in a very nasty tone last night… she seems better wtih me this morning though. She is sitting on my computer scanner and nuzzling my left hand as I try and type.

Thank you for the update on the recalled foods. I have a friend who sells some of the recalled food on this list that they just released. I notified them of the recall.
I tried feeding this brand to my cats a few months ago and they totally refused to eat it. I didn’t force it on them for the fact that I was told that they might like this brand better than what they were currently eating. I mixed it with what they were eating and they would pick out the brand they normally eat and would leave the other on the floor. Since they didn’t like it I just got rid of it and kept feeding them their regular dry food. I guess they knew something that I didn’t. I wonder if the cats could taste something in it that wasn’t right. Thank goodness they didn’t eat it. Oh and by the way, the friend who sells the food had not been notified by the company of the recall yet. Wonder how long it would have taken them to let them know?

Xufa is one relaxed kitty! That’s a real compliment to her person, for creating a home where Xufa feels totally safe.
What happens when you unzip her tummy zipper, I wonder? We have one cat with that sort of sharp crease in his fur, behind his ears and on his chest. I always think it makes him look like a really sharp dresser.

Meanwhile, if you need a laugh (who doesn’t?), this is one of the funniest things I’ve read in a very long time. It concerns a dog, but is very much likeliving with our beloved lunatic kitty, Spike, who is the Alpha teenager among our four Lost Boys:

Folks, if you think I am beating a dead horse, please forgive me, but I just looked over the last of yesterday’s posts and I can stay silent no longer. It just burns my chaps to see people crying over the thought of having to put down feral kittens and in the same breath being angry over the thought of NOT being allowed to murder a human baby because having one is inconvenient. I DON’T SEE THE DIFFERENCE HERE. FOLKS!!!!

I am a woman, and once upon a time, when I was young and stupid, I was pro-abortion. Sorry folks, but Instinct is dead-on-right, and pal, you may speak for me anytime! I cannot bring it upon myself to condemn a kitten for the circumstances of his birth, neither can I do that to a human baby, nor do I see how anyone with an iota of a human conscience can. It’s simply beyond my comprehension. I’ve known too many good couples who waited over 10 years to adopt a baby without success, then be turned away because they’re now “too old.” The families are there and are willing.

Yes, I know about unwanted pregnancies. If you don’t want a baby, don’t do it. If you do it anyway, use contraception (better if both do that). My husband and I have even spoken about the possibility of a child of rape. Thank God, I have never been attacked and pray that I never do. Even so, we agree that we could never kill an innocent child for the circumstances of his conception. Would we keep and raise the child? Honestly, we couldn’t answer that question, and again, I pray I never have to. Still, we are both solidly in agreement that he would have a chance at life. And for those of you who think I got browbeaten by my husband–I initiated and led that conversation.

We women need to quit whining about what “men don’t give us.” We are strong enough and smart enough to get whatever we feel we deserve without blaming others for what we lack. Respect cannot be demanded; it must be earned.

For those of you who don’t agree with me, I am sorry if I offended you, but I had to speak my piece. I told Instinct long ago I “was covering his six” (in other words, “covering his back” because we agree so often on so many issues), and I felt that I had let him down. At least we can agree on these adorable fuzzbutts, and you are all my friends, regardless.

Hi Everyone. I just want to say that I have very strong opinions about abortion, and most people tend to have stong opinions. I strongly disagree with some of the people here and find it upsetting enough I may stop reading TDK. I’d hate to do that since most of the time this is a lovely site. Can’t we agree that abortion be a forbiddened topic on this site? PLEASE? Note that I did NOT tell you which side I am on. I am most definitely on a side but it is no one’s business but mine. Now PLEASE let’s go back to admiring adorable kittens and chuckling over crazy ways of kitnapping them!

I have always believed that abortion should not be condoned as an option, especially when used as a form of contraception. To me, abortion is killing innocent voiceless life. Of course I also don’t believe in the death penalty. I cannot control what others believe, and realize that others have different and equally strong opposite views on the subject.

If opposing opinions come from deep soul searching, intelligent informed thought and research then we all have to agree that some topics just don’t have a definitive answer of right and wrong. In such cases I think we must live our beliefs and let others live theirs.

I think we all agree that kittens are cute, there are many wonderful, caring people on TDK, and that we really like each other, and can accept each other’s right to differ. I believe it is good to state a strongly held belief among friends and know you won’t be shunned. Tempers have flared at times because of strong opinions, maybe we should consider handling future opposition like a college debate team.

Just reflecting, not really a soap box.

What if what I want is sovereignty over my own body? What if I do not wish to be told by anybody what I can do with my own womb? I am strong and intelligent enough to have contributed to the fight to secure abortion rights. I believe that I deserve the unconditional right to decide what I can do or not do with my own body.

The issue of pregnancy, wanted or unwanted, is rightfully covered by the issue of privacy. Bodily sovereignty is part and parcel of the “inalienable rights” guaranteed to EVERYONE by the Constitution.

There are some situations in which a woman has taken every precaution against pregnancy and still gets pregnant. If she has acted responsibly, what is she to do? And as I have mentioned here before, I have yet to see anti-abortionist activists adopting any unwanted children. Time to put your money where your ideals are, perhaps?
