Houdini

Location: Great Falls, Montana, USA

Houdini is a little boy that was dropped off at our local shelter. He had been found in a barn with no sight of his mom and family. His foster mom says he weighs a whole eight ounces and is approximately 2-3 weeks old. His size has not slowed him down in the least when it comes to escaping out of his carrier. Nothing is going to keep this little boy down!

MM, Thanks for the Gort info. I’m a serious SF fan from the fifties. I was there, as a kid, devouring all I could find. TDTESS is one of my favorites. Robbie, from the Forbidden Planet, has always been another favorite robot. I’m off to E-Bay! Gort can go next to the original Enterprise in pewter. I want that set definitely. It looks like a lunchbox a little. I remember buying the first comic with supergirl, and also had the superboy one, and several other new characters. I also had a mom who threw them all out, when we moved. Between my brother’s lost baseball cards, and my lost comics, what a fortune we lost back then. I knew I liked you MM! and my first cat was a sealpoint meezer, Ilya.

–Karin in SF–I have 4 babies(4 wks.old now) that need forever homes. They’re mommie is going to be spayed in a week or so. They’re just about ready for their first shots. I realize that you probably can’t take any at this time. Maybe you know someone who can. They have siamese in them. They don’t look like it,but, they sure do act like it.

I know this is weird, but, the other day I came across one of their first little doodoo’s w/out mama’s help. I was so happy & proud. :P:

Hi Susie,
If mommy cat is going to be spayed in a week or so does that mean she won’t be able to nurse anymore? I guess I never asked the vet when the mother should be spayed, and this is the second post with spaying being done when kits are about 6 weeks old. I am curious.

My 4 babies will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. I keep looking for the first signs of their doodoo’s too, so either you aren’t weird or we both are. :P

Did you ever find the new born kittens? If so, were you able to rescue them?

My Himmi has been coming to eat in the AM now and sometimes also in the late evening. Today, had the trap set and he didn’t come at all. Probably because it was trash pick up day and the truck made the neighborhood rounds just about the time he usually shows up. I really would like to catch him in the morning so I can take him to a vet within an hour or so. Hate to have him spend the night in the trap. He still looks terrible, but I think he is stronger since he became a regular at my feeding station.

I think about you and your situation often. I truly hope that you will find a solution that creates happiness and contentment in your life. BTW, I also now live in a mobile home park. It is a very nice park with fairly large lots, trees and gardens. Lost my new home with large lot 3 years ago due to the auto accident. But had I stayed in the house I never would have been in place to help this feral colony. So sometimes God has a plan that we can’t see at first because of the pain. :D

My vet recommended that my female cats that had kittens, should be spayed after the kittens are 8 wks. old or weaned, then should put the mom up for a week so she can dry up before surgery. Just my opinion, could ask your vet.

Comment by susie in california
2007-05-22 21:37:04

–Elene– Thank you so much for thinking of me. Funny you should ask of the spay-weaning thing. I’m going to call the vet in a short bit here & find out & I’ll let you know what they tell me. It’s a tricky thing for me. I’ve got Runt & her 4 fuzzies in a 4×4 ft.cage on front porch. I can’t let her out for fear of her getting pregnant again. They’re 4 wks. old now,so they aren’t quite ready for weaning yet.
:D Good news tho. We’ve trapped 3 of 5 kittens belonging to Runt’s mother. Hope we can catch the other 2. And if she hasn’t moved them, the sister (long-haired calico) to Runt, I’ve found where she has them. I’m going to bribe the neighbor’s son to get them out from under the shed for me. Once that’s done,It will be alot smoother sailing. I’ll let you know what happens.

–So sorry for the long post everyone
