    Location: Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Mandy & SamIt was a close call that these two survived. We were feeding a stray in our backyard and decided to take her to the SPCA to get spayed and vaccinated. A couple days later while she was recovering in our living room, our neighbors came by with these two little fluffballs they found under their porch. It turns out that the cat we “rescued” was their mom. This is a picture after they had all been reunited (and after a good nursing).

Well, the job search is heating up. I have Merrill Lynch checking my references and another branch of theirs called about a position they have there! Also, a company based in Scotland is interested in me but their salary rate is a bit low. Told them I would consider if they could come up about $5k. Things are heating up! Yippeeee!!

Thanks but haven’t gotten the job offer yet.

The Scottish company is Scottish Development International. I am scheduled for a second interview tomorrow that involves some administrative testing.

What I am really interested about them is not only the European part of the company and the wonderful Scottish accents that abound the office but the fact that once a year I would actually get to go to Scotland for a week for their annual company meeting. I am told this year’s meeting is in July. If I was to take this job, I would have to “fastrack” a US passport. This means paying extra to receive it within 2-3 weeks. Also their being a government agency means a lot more stability. I am still torn between them and Merrill Lynch and will have a hard time deciding. I will give myself time to think it all through.

Thank you all for your support. It is much appreciated! Headbonks and purrs. Hugs too.

Karin, sending you LOTS of positive thoughts. If you get the Scotland job, you can always take a day and go to the nearest city that processes passports and walk it through. It does pretty much take a whole day to wait in the line, etc, but you come away with passport in hand. Be sure that you take (or send in) a CERTIFIED copy of your birth certificate. That is the one with the raised seal. Copies and hospital certificates wont work. Go ahead and see what you have and order one from the county of your birth if need be. They will send one for a small fee and it never hurts to have one. (Once a travel agent always a travel agent.) I always keep my passport current because you never know when you will need to leave the country on a moment’s notice…like to retreive a kidnapped kitten.

Cat hormones are a miraculous thing. When the rescue organization had my Emma spayed she was pregnant. We got her two days later and she was one angry ball of fur. Less than two weeks later we adopted a tiny kitten (Thierry) for Emma. She lactated and nursed him until he was almost 6 months old and had no intentions of weaning him. We finally had to keep them seperated until she dried up or he would still be nursing!

My Janell turned me on to them and when they are gone, I put tomatoes, onions, olives, cucumber slices, asparagus… with a little balsamic, garlic and oregano to add to the flavor. I leave it in the frig for when I want a snack or a quick salad. Yum!

The pickle stories are a hoot! When my son was around 10, he would open the pickle jar and drink the juice. But so he wouldn’t get caught he would fill the jar with water to hide his deed. By the time I got to eat the pickles, they had lost most of their zip! It took me a while to catch on to his trick! Today at age 34, he is still drinking the juice, but thankfully not filling it with water anymore!

Todays twins are the cutest! Blessing to them both.

Simple Susie, you freeze the item to be fried, batter it with your frying batter of choice, and then fry it. The frying thaws out the treat and also gives it a crunchy shell.
