Mandy & Sam
Location: Baltimore, Maryland, USA
It was a close call that these two survived. We were feeding a stray in our backyard and decided to take her to the SPCA to get spayed and vaccinated. A couple days later while she was recovering in our living room, our neighbors came by with these two little fluffballs they found under their porch. It turns out that the cat we “rescued” was their mom. This is a picture after they had all been reunited (and after a good nursing).426 Comments »

Two for the price of one–I love it!
Three if you count mom. Very cute pair of babies. It was a good thing that they were discovered and, I hope, found a welcoming and happy home.
very very sweet!!
Oh, I’m so glad Mom and babies were reunited! I bet both were frantic!
Double you pleasure double your fun, what adorable little sweethearts! Into my pack you go. Off to kitty funland!! lots of treats and nippys for you both!
I’m following right behind with Mocha latte’s and chocolate croissants
Oh, come on, share with the rest of us. Although, a trip to Hershey, Pa., for us humans might be nice …
Of course Mocha Lattes and Chocolaet croissants are for everyone. Come to the share circle, sit down, have a cup and pet the kittens!
Thank you ppearson! Yummy, mochas and chocolate croissants! mmmmmm chocolate (said in homer simpson voice)!!
Well, the job search is heating up. I have Merrill Lynch checking my references and another branch of theirs called about a position they have there! Also, a company based in Scotland is interested in me but their salary rate is a bit low. Told them I would consider if they could come up about $5k. Things are heating up! Yippeeee!!
It was all you baby! Congrats Karin, you deserve it! Yipee and head bonks!
WHOOO HOOOO!!! Awesome!
*doing Happy Dance* Hurray! Great news Karin!!
Whoo hoo! That’s how it goes sometimes! Once things start rolling, it all comes together and you get the job you want!
Where is the job in Scotland?
Good luck! More good vibes heading your way!
–yipeeeeeeeee–
Happy Days are here again!
–OOPS–
I meant ‘Congrats’
Thanks but haven’t gotten the job offer yet.
The Scottish company is Scottish Development International. I am scheduled for a second interview tomorrow that involves some administrative testing.
What I am really interested about them is not only the European part of the company and the wonderful Scottish accents that abound the office but the fact that once a year I would actually get to go to Scotland for a week for their annual company meeting. I am told this year’s meeting is in July. If I was to take this job, I would have to “fastrack” a US passport. This means paying extra to receive it within 2-3 weeks. Also their being a government agency means a lot more stability. I am still torn between them and Merrill Lynch and will have a hard time deciding. I will give myself time to think it all through.
Thank you all for your support. It is much appreciated! Headbonks and purrs. Hugs too.
–Shame on you,Karin–
All the positive vibes going in your & telling me you will land it. Jst hope you don’t have too much trouble deciding which one to take.
–OOPS–
I meant’going in your direction’
Okay Susie. Just had an update and Merrill Lynch says they won’t have an answer till Thursday or Friday. So one way or another I may have an offer by the end of the week. whoo hoo.
Karin, sending you LOTS of positive thoughts. If you get the Scotland job, you can always take a day and go to the nearest city that processes passports and walk it through. It does pretty much take a whole day to wait in the line, etc, but you come away with passport in hand. Be sure that you take (or send in) a CERTIFIED copy of your birth certificate. That is the one with the raised seal. Copies and hospital certificates wont work. Go ahead and see what you have and order one from the county of your birth if need be. They will send one for a small fee and it never hurts to have one. (Once a travel agent always a travel agent.) I always keep my passport current because you never know when you will need to leave the country on a moment’s notice…like to retreive a kidnapped kitten.
Good luck - and I hope you get the better of the two jobs
Digit and Furl are keeping all of their toes crossed that you will land the job of your dreams! Lots of luck. Let us know as soon as you hear.
So glad you’re getting responses to your applications! Will save “happy dance” for actual job!
ppearson you are too funny about rescuing kidnapped kittens. Anywho, Karin I am really glad that it seem like the job market is coming together for you. Regardless of which job you get, I hope it is the best one for you. Send lots of luck your way.
Wow you sound like more of a cat fanatic than I am(MOL)
I love them both…the little black guy just makes me want to grab the computer screen and steal him!!! Have a nice day…
How cute!
OMG!!! Two stinkin cute for me. Do they have names? Look at those adorable expressions. Fuzzballs of cuteness. Oh no, cute overload….
{THUD}
Comes to, blinks eyes. One thing puzzles me, didn’t the vet realize that she was a nursing mother? Had given birth not too long ago? Any thoughts?
One would think!!!
I was thinking the same thing
Yah, but with no kittens in sight, it could have been assumed that they had died….at least this story (tale/tail) has a happy ending. And look at the expression on the black kitty! Whoo? Me??
I wonder if there were more than two, and those were the ones who survived
Think happy thoughts Andi…

The bottle is half full if you imagine there were only two and now they are safe and warm…
Yeah, shouda, woulda, coulda!
I’m surprised that the spay surgery didn’t affect her ability to nurse her kittens.
Cat hormones are a miraculous thing. When the rescue organization had my Emma spayed she was pregnant. We got her two days later and she was one angry ball of fur. Less than two weeks later we adopted a tiny kitten (Thierry) for Emma. She lactated and nursed him until he was almost 6 months old and had no intentions of weaning him. We finally had to keep them seperated until she dried up or he would still be nursing!
Utterly adorable!
*pounce* quietly slips Mandy and Sam into pocket and runs like the wind……leaves mocha lattes and warm cinnamon buns behind for distraction…..
Nope, you picked up the stuffed carnaval animals from Kitty funland, mandy and sam are taking a cruise on the lazy river right now.
*snags LeeAnne by the collar and drags her back*
Say it with me LeAnne “SHARING IS CARING”
Yup, remember the big Purple Dinosaur gets a bit TESTY if kids don’t share the toys in the sandbox (lol)
“I love you,
You love me,
We’re a happy family,
with a great big hug,
and a kiss from me to you,
Won’t you say you love me TOO!
I love you,
You love me,
We’re best friends like friends should be,
With a great big hug,
And a kiss from me to you,
Won’t you say you love me too?”
I hate that song!!!!
Nooooo!!! Aaaaahhhh!!!
shoot me PLEASE!!!!!!!!! i want sam….or whichever is the darker of the two.
In our house it goes
I hate you

were a disfunctional family!!
In my family I put the fun in disfunctional!
I put the fun in disfuntional!
Same here DisFUNtional!!
Sharing is caring, sharing is caring…..wait a minute, these ARE carnival stuffed animals……..Ah man……
here, have a pickle..
I like pickles….pickle, pickle, pickle!!!
You said pickles and I almost spewed my coffee. I am working with a group of kids and all they ever want is frozen pickle juice! What kind of junk food is that??? Who ever heard of freezing pickle juice and eating it like a popsicle?? They say I am just uneducated in the fine realm of junk food creation. Whatever happened to cookies and candy??? Frozen pickle juice??
That is just so wrong……..
I can think of FAR worse junk food
You mean like deep fried moon pies??
Don’t know about deep fried moon pies but deep fried pickles are delish!!
Yea, my wife loves deep fried pickles. She will clean out a jar of pickles and then drink the brine.
That depends, are we talking sweet pickles or kosher dills?
Kosher dills for me, thanks.
And yes, deep fried moon pies are pretty bad.
Kosher dills for her. I think she feels that sweet pickels and especially bread and butter pickels are an afront to nature
My hubby would second your wife’s opinion on that Instinct. Nothing but kosher dill and an extra dash of garlic if you please
Okay, I’m getting here late today-busy. Deep fried moon pies would be the first thing I go for the minute I found out I have two weeks to live. As far a pickles-Zesty Dills for me. My Janell turned me on to them and when they are gone, I put tomatoes, onions, olives, cucumber slices, asparagus… with a little balsamic, garlic and oregano to add to the flavor. I leave it in the frig for when I want a snack or a quick salad. Yum!
If you want REAL junk food go to Scotland and try a deep fried Mars Bar!
All this pickle talk is making me hungry………
I’ve been known do drink pickle juice out of the jar the pickles come in on occasion, but frozen on a stick? Strange.
Has anyone ever had cucumbers in vinegar with onions?
The first time I made some, I forgot to add just a little water to dilute the vinegar. After setting in the fridge overnite, I ate some and they about puckered me up permantly! (sp?)
–Okay,I feel Real dumb now. How on earth can you deep-fry a moon pie or mars bar w/out the chocolate all melting off?
Hmm… how old are these kids? I have a friend who is now in her 20’s, but she used to drink pickle juice to pass drug tests when she was a druggy. She now is addicted to pickle juice and still drinks it just because she’s used to it. Weird, huh?
The pickle stories are a hoot! When my son was around 10, he would open the pickle jar and drink the juice. But so he wouldn’t get caught he would fill the jar with water to hide his deed. By the time I got to eat the pickles, they had lost most of their zip! It took me a while to catch on to his trick! Today at age 34, he is still drinking the juice, but thankfully not filling it with water anymore!
Todays twins are the cutest! Blessing to them both.
Simple Susie, you freeze the item to be fried, batter it with your frying batter of choice, and then fry it. The frying thaws out the treat and also gives it a crunchy shell.
Fried Macaroni and cheese is amazingly good too
*drool*
–ohhhhhhhhh–
Thanks Instinct
Didn’t think about the freezing it
Fried creamed corn is good too. Hamburger Heaven in Birmingham. AL had the best burgers and are fabulous with fired corn balls!
Second take…Action! That would be Hamburger Heaven HAS the best hamburgers and are fabulous with FRIED cornballs.
Instinct, did you just call her Simple Susan? LOL Yep, you’re right, I have also had a local favorite-Fried Ice Cream! Love fried pickles and Macc and cheese…
*drools like Homer*
Fried macaroni cheese? You’re kidding?
And I thought the site I saw about a pizza place in (I htink) Atlanta doing deep fried pizza was bad!
I love your writing…however these with cuties like these it would take more than lattes and cinnamon buns to distract…better cheesecakes or milk shakes….
or gigantic slabs of really good chocolate..
or a tanned Pierce Brosnan in skimpy thong swimming briefs…think about that for a while pipa’s mom….
…thud…
you kill me Cheri…
LOL!!!
or how bout a Johnny Depp?! mmm
both kittie babies are cute !! just want to pick them up and hug. kiss them !!
Did someone say Johnny Depp…..*thud*!!
