Boss & Bo

Location: Swannanoa, North Carolina, USA

1180187092000_0547.jpgBoss (on the left) gets his name naturally while Bo is short for Bovine (’cause he looks like a cow lumbering about). They were about five weeks old in this pic. When they were three months old their mother went outside one morning and never returned - but at least they have each other, and their adopted Aunts, Spoof and Poof.

What is a carnival in Spain? Carnival’s and fair’s tend to be similar here. There are amusement park types rides, all kinds of food vendors, and various forms of entertainment. Fairs go a step further having talent exhibits, food competitions and animal judging contests.

Well it is sort of the same here… we are divided by the different cultures we have here…
In the north (Galicia/Asturias/Pais Vasco) it is colder and the festivities are a bit celtic… Fairs are all about food, food and more food… with some rides etc…
In the South (Sevilla/Granada/Marbella) the weather is milder and festivities are more colorful and is usually accompanied by dancing…

When I used to show my cats, I would use a dryer sheet at the (often) dry and hot show rooms to control static in their fur. They are safe to use and safe for them to play with as long as they don’t try to eat them, I guess. :-)

–I read somewhere in a cat magazine to spray a comb or brush w/anti-static spray & then use on them. It said it wouldn’t hurt them. I use that trick on myself from time to time since I have long hair that’s prone to static on windy days.

Hi Susie! I used to do that trick as well, when my hair was long (I’m doing the short hair thing this year, much to the dismay of my boyfriend). My hair would get so static-y, especially with the santana winds, and as it got grayer and thus thinner, it would get very fly away! Hope all is well with you and the kitties. Best wishes to you up North (anything farther north than Bakersfield is Up North to me).

It’s shutting them in the dryer I have to watch out for. My daughter’s Belle as a kitten, once spent the whole day in the dryer (not running, luckily) when she snuck in while I took something out. Daughter said she was “Fluffy” when she was let out.

The very next day Belle again jumped in the dryer. With a black cat in the dark dryer I became paranoid that I would actually start the dryer with her in it.

Ferrule sits in the dirty laundry that is waiting to go in the washer. Then he will sit on my shoulder when i put it in the washer. He will sit on the door to the dryer while I rotate the laundry. I then have to remove him from the dryer before starting it. He will then proceed to roll in all the freshly laundered clothing while I am trying to fold it. It would be annoying if it wasn’t so darn cute

My milo and my megan both love to get in my clean laundry when I am tring to fold it too. When I have emptied the basket, they stay in it so I just take the basket, kitty and all back to where it belongs. They just love to take that ride.

Wish mine liked the dirty laundry. Mine like to lay on the clean clothes. Especially if they are just out of the dryer. So if I do not iron the laundry for a few days, have to decide whether to de-fur the clothes before ironing or toss them back into the dirty pile. lol

The very thought of that scares me. A moron of a neighbor here in our park closed their orange tabby in the dryer & killed it when they turned it on. They say it was an accident. I say their demon son did it on purpose. He was that kind of kid. Ironically, they’re the same people that abandoned the siamese cat that keeps having litters in our backyard. They’ve been here 10 yrs. & had 5 cats they let go. They now own yet another. They should be in jail!

We plan to do just that. The problem is,she still has 2 kittens left from her last litter(we trapped 3 already & found homes for them). And one girl from her last litter has a litter of her own out there we habven’t been able to find yet. Our train of thought is on finding the new litter first, then trapping the girl & then the siamese kitten mill goes to get fixed next.

**What a slow process it can be tho!

I told the manager flat out that she was lying to her. Around here, noone will band together to get management to do something. So myself & one other gal in the park are TNRing thru vouchers. Your comments about them getting more cats reminded me of a saying in the Dick E. Bird News. Newspaper about birding and the enviroment and the editor/wwriter had a great sense of humor and little offbeat. He always JOKED that if you had problems with the neighbor’s cat hanging around your birdfeeder, kill the neighbor, not the cat. If you killed the cat, they would just get another cat. Best part of the paper was Harry Houdini’s column. He was a squrriel who wrote about all the problems he had with people getting upset about him trying to get some free food from their bird feeders. His column was always very funny.

Sorry you have such bad neighbors. It must be hard watching it and not possible to give all the kitties homes. People like that should be banned from having pets. An old girlfriend had to have here neighbors cat fixed. They lived on a busy road, almost all the litter were road kill except for the ones she was able to place in homes.

Around this place, there are a few kids reaching the age where that want to impress someone thru shock. I just call them demon kids. They get their kicks out of tormenting the cats. I’ve known a couple to even torment their own family’s animals when the parents weren’t around. Some have even shot them w/bebes or pellets. If I ever catch them shooting at any animals,I’ll turn the gun on them & they won’t be sitting for a couple of weeks. Vicious behavior, isn’t it(I mean on their part)?

My 3 love dryer sheets, period. The dig at the box until it turns over, and pick them out and play with them. Whenever I come into the laundry room, I collect the sheets and put them back. If it’s bad for them, they’ve been doing it for years, so whatever it causes will be a surprise.

That’s interesting because Anna, my cat who eats just about anything, absolutely cannot abide bananas. I found that out because whenever I would eat something she’d start dancing around until I gave her a taste of whatever it was. Since bananas seemed harmless enough, I put the banana near her and she screwed up her face in a look of utter revulsion…or what passes for revulsion in cats, I suppose.

Those babies are so darling. Too bad about their mom, though.

If they can make banana flavor and cherry flavor, I wonder why they can’t come up with cat nip flavor.
