Countess Tabitha Von Kits
Tabitha is seven weeks old. She is like a little squeak toy and every time you pick her up she meows. She has little black paw pads under her grey fur and when you lay her on her back she resembles something of a little bear cub, though I am also told she looks like an owl in this picture. Despite her tendency towards meowing, which might be taken as a sign of weakness, she is quite the little scrapper. She has taken on the older cat of the house and although much smaller, has proven to be a brave contender and stands her ground batting her paws back at the older bully cat. They have since settled in however, and this morning I caught them smooching.

Can I have her? Thanks!! Takes “Tabby” away!
Oh no you don’t! You have to share!
I am I am!
Do you always have to be first?! You must be huddling over your computer to get first “grab” of the kitten of the day. LOL
How are you doing today?
LOL - You’re a funny one. We should send you off to Reader’s Digest. They pay good money for funny people! I don’t always have to be first - I just AM. It just happens. Don’t be jealous - you’ll turn green.
I am fine this morning, thanks for asking. As I posted earlier - I’m full of painkillers so it’s a beautiful day!
thats what it is the painkiller gives her the skills of a Ninja
Nothing like vicodin. Had that when I had my wisdom teeth taken out. Woowee!
This kitty looks like a little owl. So cute and fluffy! I want to give it lots of kisses. Sylvester would take one look at her and say thanks for the toy. Too cute!
Interview Thursday at Merrill Lynch and now The Hyatt Regency Hotel wants to interview me for an Executive Assistant to their General Manager in the hotel located at The Embarcadero Center in SF (at the foot of Market Street). They want to do it on Thursday as well. Both are great opportunities. I am going to have to email my manager that I need to go to a doctor’s appt on Thursday. Hope they will be decent about it. I hate to say this white lie but cannot pass up these opportunites. Think positive that they both are interested in hiring me. Would love the opportunities.
Okay breakfast…plain bagel toasted with butter and a mocha this am. Need to start losing some weight. I hate that I need to lose weight but I don’t like my work shirts feeling tight across the hips.
I knew it would be a matter of “when it rains, it pours”. This is akin to the situation of when you don’t have a boyfriend, no one wants to go out with you, but as soon as you get a boyfriend, everyone is suddenly interested!
Good luck, and I think that your assessment of benefits versus salary is very smart. I did that, and am very happy in my choices.
Kate
P.S. Gearing up for the All-Star game?
I haven’t been paying attention to “all-star game”. Is this for baseball? I am not much into sports unless it is the World Series, Super Bowl, Stanley Cup or World Soccer. I just got the sport package on our cable tv so my husband can watch soccer on the Fox Soccer Channel. Extra $5 a month is no big deal at this time.
The All Star game is big stuff around here, believe me!
Jim Leyland, our manager, is managing the American League team, and our Tigers (Detroit) have at least 5 players on the All-Star roster! Yahoo-go American League!!!
Okay sounds great! Detroit Tigers have some really good players. The Yankees seem to be having a bad time right now. Both the SF Giants and the A’s beat them. Haven’t seen any really good players locally unless you look at Barry Bonds (who was good in the beginning but is now looking old and tired) or Barry Zito.
I just got a call from Genentech for a phone interview for this Thursday. So now I have two in person interviews and one phone interview. As Kate the Grate says, they don’t want you till you are not available. Here I am doing a job that could be a temp to hire but it is currently a temporary job. I hope all three want to hire me so that I have some good choices to make.
Happy 4th of July to everyone. Hope it is a safe and fun day for everyone. Last night I heard some pre-fourth fireworks in the area. Sylvester didn’t seem bothered and in fact was sitting in the window looking out to see what was going on.
Best of luck to you Karin. And I hope you do have three choices! Maybe it’ll be hard to choose?
I made this movie for all you guys “http://www.youtube.com/v/RZH1hUUd218″

Great job!
Wonderful idea Teresita! Thank you!!! Muchas Gracias. Hugs and purrs from the kitties.
Awww. such a QTpie!
MerD–
I thought you’d be gone for a while — the only recipe was yesterday from Dee for Hummingbird Cake. Are you still away and do you still want me to collect the recipes for you? Also you never answered my post requesting your email address….
Jo in Blairsville,
MerD’s address for the cookbook is,TDKcookbook at gmail dot com
Hope this helps. Replace the “at” and “dot’ with appropiate symbols. In case you didn’t know.
Thanks, Renee! Smiles!
Poune! Cutie!!
It’s a pocket kitten! Like a pocket dragon!
But where is she from?
Normal service resumed tomorrow, I promise.
Hey, we have a kitten and a name - everything else is just icing on the cake
Did someone say cake? I have rum. It’s happy hour somewhere, at least that’s the excuse when I want something and it’s before noon. Malibu-Tangs all around!!
Rum?? Where’s the rum???
Rum=Yay! It’s here, LeeAnne, along with Instinct’s cake and some other goodies posted down the line today. Coconut rum with pineapple juice, mmmm…
What’s a pocket dragon?
Our baby Sally Semi-Meezer has earned the nickname “Pocket Rocket.” She’s so tiny that she can hide anywhere, and no ankle is safe as long as she is on the hunt! Her favorite hidey-hole? The half-empty carton of quart water bottles on the floor of our pantry! The pantry door is a 3/4 door (it ends about 18″ off the floor), and is perfect for her to dash out of to attack an unsuspecting staff member or an indifferent Linus! (Lucy still wants to murder her; one has to be locked out when the other is in.)
Awwwwwwwwwwwwww
Nononono, you bring little Tabby right back here, Miss I don’t Wanna Share!
Oh alright then. *Brings “Tabby” back so everyone can love on her. What a little doll!
Just so precious! Wee little ball of fluff….I love them when they’re so small they fit in one hand.
I do too. It was so weird having Huddy because I hadn’t had a baby in the house for over 15 years and it was a lot of fun to have a little one again. I think that’s why he’s so spoiled. I used to carry him around everywhere. He was just too sweet.
i’m first !!! and i’m going to whisk this little angel away for my exclusive use !!!
Take a number!!
I think she is beeeutful HM glad you are better today
I just thought her name is bigger than she is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
too adorable! alas, I am still catless….
Ah, but you can gaze adoringly at a new kitten (or in last week’s case, bunches of kittens) every day! We didn’t have children, but I can have 450 of them when I go to work since I work at a school. Maybe you can borrow beautiful Countess Tabitha Von Kits for a while in the sharing circle.
that’s right! I may be catless, but I CAN get my fix of these precious little cuties simply by clicking the Daily Kitten Archive…gotta love the internet….and TDK’ers ROCK!
Why are you catless? Allergies? Nobody should be catless if they can help it.
you don’t have to be I’ve got alot to chose from see them on my link to my name then see other in the family section.
Hi, Elaine. Haven’t seen you post in a while. I tried to check out your current kitten photos but the link from your name doesn’t work. Could you double check it? Thanks.
I have wicked allergies to kitties, and our one bedroom apartment is cramped for two humans never mind a kitty or two. My poor fiancee is still mourning his pussycat of yore so he’s not anxious to ‘jump back in’ to pet ownership. Hence, me and my daily fix of Cute Overload and TDK!
try this one
OOops, in too much of a hurry. let me rephrase… POUNCE!
I think Tabitha has a LOT to say about things, and doesn’t mince meows!
It would be wise to meet the demands of Her Grace and show proper respect for the title.
A Lovely Little Lady!
Good morning TDK’ers! Guess what? It’s still raining here. This little beauty sure does look like a countess. Anyone have any coffee?
Here’s a cup of coffee.. would you like some Bailey’s with that?
May I have some?
Of course HM!! extra Bailey’s this morning?
Oh yes please!!
I’m so tired this morning that I think I’ll skip the coffee altogether and just stick two espresso beans into my nose!
*chokes on her tamarindo*
FondaHonda, I think it would work better if you just take a handful of espresso beans and chew them in your mouth. You would definitely get a good charge from that. Or even more fun..buy some chocolate covered espresso beans…more fun and delicious too! Wooweeeeeeee! Flying around the ceiling now like the ghost in Ghostbusters movie.
Karin, you commented yesterday about the picture of Huddy on the pillow. He was on the pillow because he was so little (under 2 pounds) he would have slipped through the bars on the bed. Now he cannot even fit between them (I know because he hollered for me when he got stuck once) he’s so big.
That is one of my favorite pictures of him. I took it the first night I got him. I have a bigger version framed on my desk.
Yes, I’m a crazy cat lady.
*hugs to Sylvester*
I am happy to say I am a crazy cat lady too. Sylvester has been even more of a love bug in the morning as I am getting ready for work. It is almost like he is saying, don’t go..please don’t go. So cute.
My first cat, Whiskers was so small that she could fit in my hand including her tail. I got her at six weeks old. I have a pillow picture of her too.
We love our cats don’t we? I wouldn’t have it any other way. Have actually been toying with getting a companion for Sylvester. My husband is okay with the idea as long as I realize that there is more cost involved and that I prepared to cover the cost as they are “my cats”.
Yeah, Your Cats when they do naughty, but “oh, isn’t he/she SO cute” when they do fun stuff.
I’m talking cats here, not husbands (snicker)
My cats are never naughty.
Karin, go ahead and get a companion for Sylvester. Two cats aren’t much more expensive than one.
I hope you are going to be ok, FondaHonda. Flooding is certainly no fun, speaking from first-hand experience. If you have to walk in flood waters, I’m sure you are aware of the currents. I had to back in ‘84 and roads/asphalt surfaces were tough, but walking on grass was quite tricky. Be careful out there and I’m sending lots of positive energy and thoughts your way.
Luckily, everything is o.k. here. Just wondering if it’s made national news or not about the 10 or so homes in Haltom City (about 5 miles from me) where their backyards have sunk into the creek. They showed it last week where the homeowners were concerned because about 1/3 of their backyards were gone. . .this morning they showed how these poor people have almost no backyards and are moving. On top of that, it’s supposed to rain through at least Sunday. My windshield shade has not been used yet this summer. Unbelievable!
I’m a weather geek so The Weather Channel is the default channel in my house. That’s where I saw some footage, but not sure what town. It’s interesting how one wonders about stuff like this making national news. Obviously, everyone was impacted by 9/11, but around here, just about everyone knows someone who was lost in the attacks, saw the debris first-hand, and had dust land everywhere. And I’m pretty far from the city!
Joan,
I remember September 11, 2001 like it was yesterday. I know quite a few people who were affected by the terror attacks.
I actually didn’t believe what I was seeing on TV and went about 5 blocks to where I could see the NYC skyline. I saw 2 smoking Towers, then all of a sudden there was only 1. I ran home right away and was glued to the TV for the rest of the day. To say the least, I was devastated.
My job now is for Risk Management department in a bank (been in banking since 1993) and we are a part of Home Land Security. We all work very hard and I am proud of what I do. I want to do my part to prevent another attack like 9-11.
By the way, where in NJ do you live? I was in Woodbridge, NJ at the time of the attacks.
fluffy lil furball!
Such a big, impressive name for such a tiny kitten!!
Feral updates: well, the injured feral didn’t show up last night or this morning; I hope he’s okay. Maybe he’ll show up tonight, or the next day, when I’m planning to be home all day.
The other two ferals are doing fine; hanging around much closer to home. I’m not convinced that they leave the front porch more than an hour or so each day!
The kittens are doing well, though I’m hoping to get some amoxicillin in soon for the grey tabby; she’s got a persistent sniffle in her left nostril. The black kitten is as outgoing and rambunctious as can be; he’s quite the precocious one! While the brown mackerel tabby is still elusive, he has played on top of me and has tolerated some petting while eating. He has the most gorgeous coat; so soft! And thoroughly striped; his belly is even stripey, only breaking out to spots between his front legs and toward his crotch. He almost looks like foundation stock for the Toyger breed underway, except his ears are long and slightly tufted.
The other news is that I don’t think I got Mama kitty captured soon enough; I think she’s pregnant again, and more than halfway through her term. (Halfway is usually my cutoff point for spaying, due to increased risk of complications during surgery.) The only good news about that is that neither of the two TNR males contributed to her situation.
Thank you for the update!! I hope the injured feral shows up soon, poor baby. Maybe you’ll see him tomorrow.
You are such a good person for taking care of those babies.
Thanks for keeping us updated on your rescues/potential rescues. I hope the injured feral comes back soon so you can get him to the dreaded v-e-t. Keep up the good work!
You’re not supposed to use the V-word
In my home, you can’t say the T-word.
(T-R-E-A-T)
Tee-hee, you guys are funny!
in my house you can not say C H E E S E…..both canine and feline go beserk…..
Too true! I’m amazed my cats didn’t come into the office to hiss at me for even spelling that word out! *blushes*
I admire you’re dedication to helping the feral kittens and the momma cat. I appreciate the updates. There’s probably a lot of us who wish we could do what you do.
That is so great that you are taking the time to take care of these kitties. The angels are smiling at you. My husband saw a big orange tabby in our driveway a day or so ago. This was the same one that was here a week ago. He is big..possibly a 20 pounder. I hope he has a home. One of my neighbors puts out a bowl of dry food. There use to be a tortie stray who would come and eat. I wanted to help it but I would only see once in a while. I have a bad feeling it has died as the last time I saw it, it was all fur and bones and was having a hard time walking. Feel bad for it.
Forgot to mention that even though it was having a hard time walking as soon as I got near it, it managed to gather it’s strength and run away.
That’s not surprising. The skills that a cat learns to survive outdoors are usually not the same skills that lets them be an affectionate pet.
By the way, that tortie was most likely a “she,” as more than 99% of tortoishell cats are female.
Yes the tortie is a “she”. She would come around howling letting us all know she was in heat. I really wanted to do a TNR but never could find her and since I am in out all the time, didn’t think think it was a good idea. I feel bad not trying now.
It’s always possible that she was successfully taken in by someone else, but it’s not likely.
Trapping doesn’t have to be that challenging; it’s mostly a matter of making sure you have the cats accustomed to the traps, and eating out of them. Tractor Supply Co. (Midwest farm supply house) has traps for around $25 each, last I checked. I prop open the trap door with a 1.5 foot piece of rebar, right up until the day I trap, so there’s no chance of it accidentally snapping shut.
Regular food and water is really the key, more than anything else.
I had one young feral cat that I was feeding that became injured. I tried to trap him but he ran off and did not come back. Talk about heartsick — I thought the poor little guy had gone off and died.
Three weeks afterward, one of my neighbors told me about an elderly friend of hers who had picked up a young and hurt cat. The cat was whisked off to the vet’s for a checkup, medication, and “defrosting” (he got neutered). We walked by the elderly lady’s house, and there was “my” little guy, smiling from the window. Very well groomed. With a new collar. And he was also plumper than he had been. And the little old lady was smiling too.
What a marvelous, happy ending! I’m glad; he was one of the lucky ones!
Great story Emma. Wish all our stories were like that.
Good morning all!! (or afternoon if applicable!!!)
What a little sweetie pie!
Can I please share? I’ll bring hazelnut lattes to trade!!
Definitely can share, Bogman’s Mama. Isn’t that we are all about? Hands Tabitha over after giving Tabitha lots of kisses on her head. Sharing circle time.
