YogiThis is Yogi at 26 days old. His mother was a rescued kitty that we adopted six days before Yogi and his five brothers and sisters were born. We had to call one of the kittens “Yogi” because they were born on May 12th - Yogi Berra’s birthday. All the kittens are beautiful, but Yogi is the biggest and mostly the first to do everything. We have homes for several of the kits, but we are keeping Yogi!

This little Yogi is snuggly cute! Maybe when he grows up he’ll come up with some more “Yogi-isms”. Here are a few chuckles by the one and only Yogi Berra:

When you come to a fork in the road-take it.

    I didn’t really say everything I said.

The future ain’t what it used to be.

It gets late early out there.

And one that little Yogi might say–

I usually take a 2 hour nap from one to four!!

“No one goes there any more, it’s too crowded.”

When then-New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller’s wife complimented Yogi on the “cool-looking” suit he was wearing, Yogi replied, “Thanks. You don’t look so hot yourself.”

All kidding aside, Berra has the record for winning 10 World Series championships with the Yankees.

Thanks for all the suggestions yesterday/last night about my mother, have already moved her out before and as soon as I left sadly she went back because that is all she has ever known. Yes, he is an emotional/mental abuser and he won’t change. Hated to vent yesterday, but good to know that I can here. Thanks TDK’ers.

Hope that everyone has a good day, enjoy your families whether 2 or 4 legged, and remember to Keep It Fluffy

yes I found this story quite disturbing as well. Honestly I think it is very slanted. They don’t give much information either. Different types of cats have different dander and some are historically less likely to trigger allergies. Also, they didn’t specify indoor or outdoor cats. Cats that go outdoors pick up other allergens in their fur. It really ticks me off that they do not give alternative options to getting rid of a beloved pet. They also do not even touch on options of desensitizing. Studies have shown time and time again that children are less likely to suffer from asthma and allergies when they are raised around animals. People have had cats in their homes for centuries. Maybe the problem is not the cats, but the over sterilization of the world around us. Compromised immune systems will not work effectively.

I’m glad you vented, too, AZDeb. We all do, and it’s good to have a place where we can go and do that. — I was mentally and emotionally abused by an alcoholic husband for 10 years. I personally know what your Mom is going through. After I’d finally had ENOUGH — and divorced him, I became active in volunteering at SAFE shelters and homeless shelters, because I was so thankful just to be able to get up and have my feet hit the floor without being nauseous and anxious because of the uphilll battle everyday, and I wanted to help others get to that point. Not many do, sadly. Did you know that physically abused women will go back to the abuser on average 7 times — if they live that long, and some don’t — before they finally leave for good.

Since God tells us we should give thanks in ALL things, let’s give thanks that your Mom isn’t physically abused, and that she is surrounded by loved ones who are aware of her situation and love her even more for it. Happy 4th, AZDeb!

Just read your post yesterday. I am sorry your and your mother have had to deal with someone so bent on controling and hurting you. I really feel sick pity for him–really must hate himself to do what he does. But my prayers are for you and your mom to know the peace and love of all animals–even when they may not be around long. I truly wish your mom could be with you in a healthy and loving environment. Amazing you both have loving hearts and he hasn’t damaged that.

Happy 4th of July! Today is such an awesome day. Both good news and bad. I found out I have a job! I posted late last night and some nocturnal feline friends saw it. Thank you! See Ange I told you we will both have something by the beginning of school–be patient the right position is coming your way too. But my best friend’s baby is in trouble. Find out today whether the pregnancy is viable. After 13 years this was the most celebrated child ever. She needs prayer.

I received my very first job offer the 2nd day the school year started (for the teachers). . .most districts give employees so many days before the beginning of the year before they have to resign their positions, so many won’t even know what positions to fill until at least mid-July. The only jobs they’re filling right now are for positions where teachers have permanently retired or told their principals ahead of time that they’re leaving. You’ll get a job–I just know it!

    Yogi… what a cutie!

Injured feral came around this morning, and ate and drank just fine. His cheek was still slightly swollen, but NOTHING like the other day. He was also limping somewhat, but not so badly that he wouldn’t walk away after his meal. The other ferals are doing a fine job of guarding the front porch, in between their naps in the sunshine.

Mama kitty and kittens are doing fine. I’m reducing the food available to them when I’m not there, and have gotten them all a little more used to people talking, and playing near my face when I’m lying on the ground. They’re also getting more used to my hands, but that’s a slow process. I’m thinking coating my hands with plain yogurt could help with that.

Okay, all y’all can take those thoughts and keep them a little closer to yourselves!

The yogurt on fingertips trick worked for 2 out of 3 kittens, as well as Mama kitty. And I found the best way to keep them all calm while fireworks were going off everywhere in my neighborhood (where fireworks are illegal, naturally), was to play back a recording of purring. If you click on my name, then go to purr4.wav, you’ll hear the sound that soothed both Mama kitty and her kittens.
