Sadie Mae

“Plant? What plant?” Now, how can you get mad at that precious Maine Coon kitten? Well, we can’t, either. Sadie, six months old in this shot, has always found the most interesting places to relax. Now weighing in at almost 20 pounds, Sadie Mae still finds great places to recline - although she doesn’t fit in this pot anymore!

What a beautiful girl! Cats DO know how to be comfortable!
Good morning all! Hope you are enjoying this gorgeous Saturday! Mitzi is sleeping on my lap as I type this, and Redford is playing with his little “crackle frog” that he dearly loves. I am about to give them breakfast–and while they get Super Supper, I’ll bring cinnamon lattes for all of you along with cheese omlets–any takers?

Hi, Me! (Kinda sounds weird doesn’t it?)

One of my dear friends is named Sadie. She moved to Arkansas to escape from Hurricane Rita back in 2005.

Sadie’s former husband invited her as well as her mom and daughter there to evacuate. A sweet story where after twenty-something years apart they remarried.

A sweet story — except for the fact her husband is allergic to cats! She asked me if I could help — and I replied, “Sure!”

So, I adopted her four kitties.

She is a dear lady and one of my best friends, too!

Surrounded by a herd of felines — I’m the CatWrangler from Louisiana.

My daughter learned to ride on such a horse. His name was Tag. He was in his late 20s when he died. He had the most amazing skill with new riders. I would watch, and I swear that he taught more than the instructor. Andi would spend hours brushing him and just sitting with him. She found more love with that horse. She never turned out to be a great rider, but Tag taught her the unconditional love that flows from animals. Enjoy Missy for many more years!

2007-07-14 17:35:04

So nice of you to remember! :)

He’s amazing! He just slided in the family on the very first day. The others have totally accepted him. He usually sleeps in the bed with me and the girl. One sleeps next to my left ankle while the other guards my right ankle. My bad boy spends his nights on top of my wardrobe, but I have seen them napping together.

The boys have batted each other too (I call it boxing), but Hipsu with Attitude doesn’t harass him like he harasses the girl. And the girl tries to sniff his butt and lick his face.

But he has also taught them a new bad habit: he shreds newspapers. They hadn’t done that before. She has occasionally shred a little toilet paper and household (?) paper (it’s like a giant roll of toilet paper with which you can wipe your hands, tables etc.) Nowadays I have to hide the newspaper and all the other post.

Here are some pictures of him:

The paper on a roll for hands and wipe ups are just called paper towels here.

Have a great weekend.

Kiwi,
Take the pillowcase off your bed, or take an old T shirt out of the dirty laundry, and drag it around your yard and up and down the street a little way in each direction. Then set out some food. If your kitty is in the neighborhood, she will pick up your scent and follow it to breakfast (or supper). Cats are nocturnal, so check the food place around twilight. We have recovered two escapees by this method.

Good luck!

Kitties do know how to find a “comfortable” spot. Of course sometimes their idea of comfort seems odd to us. I’ve had a couple kitties that liked to lay in pots and one that liked on top of my cookbooks.

I suspect most of kits prefer to be on top of something. If my girl would find a stamp on the floor, she would rather settle on it than on the floor.

How is everyone going? How’s Alex anyone hear anything about her babies? Are here babies old enough for new homes now?

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I was just wondering Sox’s Mom can I snag a few pieces of that extra crispy bacon. Love cripsy bacon, the crispier the better. I would also love a cheese omlete too if there’s any left oh anyone think to bring some organge juice? If not I would like to offer a big jug full of fresh chilled juice.

I have been selecting things to personalize the classroom a bit. I want grammar posters for the room and then I think I will be done for awhile. At least until the kids are there. When does your area return to the classroom? I know they haven’t done all the hiring that they need to here yet. New teachers return on the 2nd of August but they have to do paper work next week. I am ready and now we have to put postive thought and energy into you!

Thought you all would like to know this news from the ASPCA.

LAST HORSEMEAT SLAUGHTERHOUSE IN U.S. IS CLOSED FOR BUSINESS
Even though HB 1711, a successful Illinois state bill banning horse slaughter for human consumption, was signed into law by Governor Blagojevich in May, the state’s one remaining horse slaughterhouse had continued to operate while its Belgium-based owner, Cavel International, challenges the law’s constitutionality in federal court.

Until just recently, that is. On Thursday, June 28, a federal judge refused to extend Cavel’s temporary restraining order, issuing a statement saying he “no longer believes that plaintiffs have shown a strong or even negligible likelihood of succeeding on the merits of the action pending before this court.” The facility, which for 20 years has slaughtered about 1,000 horses a week, was ordered to cease operating at midnight. It has remained shut.

“The ASPCA is elated to know that the inhumane practice of horse slaughter finally has ceased in the great state of Illinois,” says Ledy VanKavage, ASPCA Senior Director of Legal Training & Legislation. “We don’t eat horsemeat in this country, and an overwhelming majority of Americans see no reason to allow this industry to operate in our country just to satisfy foreign markets. It’s about time that the will of the people was honored and upheld by the courts.”

Being so cute with her soft gray fur
finding places to relax
