    Ernie

My husband found Ernie and his brother, Bert, in the middle of a parking lot - no where a momma would leave them, so we assume abandonded by cruel humans. We bottle fed them for weeks, weaned them, and found them a happy home together! The scab on Ernie’s head was an infection he came to us with, but it was treated and gone when he was adopted.

Thank God Ernie and Bert were found by such a wonderful and kind person. Seeing the scab on Ernie’s head makes me want to cry. Such a sweet face and so young to have to felt abandonment. It just makes me cry. Need a snuggle with some kitties.

Actually a double shot of esspresso in my coffee! Went to the bakery this morning too–had to clear cobwebs–so I have blueberry donuts. Chaperoned a dance last night. It was like a night club in Ibiza! What middle school has that kind of DJ and entertainment at a school dance. I was a little blown away. I really have become OLD and I think I am now OLD enough to enjoy it!

There’s scrambled eggs with cheese, Eggs Benedict, sun-dried tomato chicken sausage, spinach-feta chicken sausage, grilled chicken tenderloins, grits, oatmeal, hash browns with chicken gravy, toast, bagels, chocolate croissants, blueberry juice, grape juice, tea, and Tequila Sunrises. Who wants eats?

Milk and eggs humanely collected are okay. Be lacto-ovo vegetarian.

    2007-08-25 17:35:18

Exactly - just hard to find milk from humane farm. Eggs are getting easier due to pressure for free range. Because I started vegan, but decided I could not continue for many reasons, I just satisfy myself with not eating anything that had to die. Because of recent health issues I was forced to make a comprimise and eat salmon and turkey once or twice a week. Once I get my health back to normal I will again be 100% lacto-ovo vegetarian.

I am a true carnavore but when I had surgery was unable to eat many things and meat was at the top. I couldn’t drink those powder mixes with protien because I have lactose problems and the whey in the mix couldn’t be digested. Reason I am telling you this is I found a liquid protein (supposedly cherry flavored) that gave me the protien I needed. Wondered if that might be something you could use instead of salmon and turkey? I get it from a small health food store in town.

Awwww, little Ernie is precious. So nice to get the warm fuzzies here after perusing the other news. I also found my latest kitten, Wolfie, in a parking lot. It was the local Kroger (food store) and he was crying under the Christmas trees on a cold day in December. My 18 year old son caught him and brought him home in a banana box. He was meowing his head off. He tamed faster than any animal I had ever seen, after I spoke to him softly for a few minutes he began purring and came out from his hiding place under the cabinet. I found out later that he had been out under the Christmas trees for three days. Heartless humans! Choosing your Christmas tree and leaving a frightened helpless kitten there while you take the tree back to your warm house. Some Christmas spirit.

People can be horrible, can’t they? I got Rumpelteazer when she was a tiny kitten because she rode in to work under the hood of a co-worker’s car. The co-worker knew where she came from - her neighbor’s barn cat had some kittens that had been running around - and she called the neighbors to let them know that she had one of the kittens. The response? “Just leave it in a 7-11 parking lot, someone will pick it up”. I kid you not. There was NO WAY that I was letting that kitten go. She was my companion for over 17 years after that.

Sob - I want an orangie! All the stray cats seem to find me, but never any orangies.

I sure wish we lived closer together. I have a beautiful orangie kitten up for adoption right now. He’s so orange that we named him Rusty. He’s alittle more shy than his brother & sister because he was trapped 3 weeks later than them. But, other than that, he’s alittle sweetheart.

By the way, I was born in Pontiac Hospital, & we lived in Union Lake, Michigan till I was 5,when my dad moved us out to California for better employment & warmer weather.

I get my jasmine tea from a local oriental shop called K. Not sure what the letter stands for, but she owns a shop by the school. She also keeps me in rice wraps. They are very thin and less carbs than bread. Since I had stomach surgery I find bread and pasta difficult to digest, and they irratate my stomach. Oriental teas have been a main stay just to sooth me. My favorite tea is oolong.

Ernie is one very lucky and adorable kitten. I am so glad you were able to get these two babies off the streets and into a loving home together. Thank you so much for your kindness toward Bert and Ernie.

Catwoman, the poor little baby Wolfie. I could just cry to think he was out in the cold for 3 days and no one thought to rescue him. Wolfie started purring at your soft voice because he knew you were his Christmas present from olde St. Nick. Your son sounds like a wonderful person with a big heart too. My orange tabby is also named Charlie, and he is the mellowest, sweetest fellow — he wants nothing more than to sleep in the crook of my arm while I’m reading online. He also shares toys with the foster kittens, and lets them snuggle next to him and chew on his tail. I wish I could get some of our other, more self-centered kitties to learn from Charlie.
And the purr! When Charlie was little, his purr could be heard a block away. He’s quieter now, but just as loving.

Ernie, meanwhile, is so cute I’d pick him up even knowing I have waaaaay too many kitties. Good thing he has a home!
