Ryder

My boyfriend brought this little fella home from work last week. If you look closely he has what looks like a Y on his face. In this picture he is eight weeks old and playing with his favorite toy. He is so full of energy, he never stops playing. He loves to be around people and loves playing with his big brother Burton.

Also, K.W……….Many benefits to becoming “Senior”. Your groceries will be taken to your car and loaded,(even if it’s 2 bags), no more hassle with lawn and garden, or pool supplies. You will be waited on hand and foot!! Plus,(in our area), many of the stores offer an extra 15% off on purchases, several times a month. We don’t like being “golden”………but it’s not all that bad!!

KittenWhisperer, a most happy birthday to you! Get all the seniors you can! Happy 55th! I am only 53, but have joined AARP! Not as bad as it sounds! Get’s discounts and a magazine that lets you know what’s going on. A good thing to know. Enjoy your day! Hope it was wonderful! Hugs and Purrs, Lynn

2007-08-28 02:16:43

Thanks, Lynn. I’ve been a card-carrying member of AARP for 11 years. I rode in on the coat tails of my (much older–OK 6 years older) husband when he turned 50). :-)

KW, have been riding the coat tails of my roomate who is 61 this year since I turned 50! I hear you and You go girl! I have learned so much from the magazines and letters we get every 2 months. We need to stay informed of what may happen with insurance and social security, cause it doesn’t look too good in my opinion. Thanks for sharing. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn

2007-08-28 11:58:45

Not fair, in UK we don’t get any discounts/benefits etc. until we are officially pensioners (delightful abbreviation OAP old age pensioner) ie on reaching 65. Pensionable age has been standardised for men and women, previously it was 60 for women and 65 for men.

Comment by Kitten Whisperer
2007-08-28 17:13:20

The discounts vary from business to business. Some don’t offer them to anyone. Others offer them to people over 60 or over 65. It’s fairly hit and miss but fun when you find one you qualilfy for. I love the abbreviation for pensioners in the UK.

I don’t qualify for social security and I think the current age you can begin drawing it (correct me if I’m wrong TDKers) is 62).

OMG! I’m in LOVE! (feeds kitten slice of smoked salmon) I have a mere simple breakfast today, just in case anyone has children going back to school. There’s steel-cut oatmeal with your choice of dried fruit, honey, brown sugar, butter, and/or cinnamon, scrambled eggs with cheese, bagels, cream cheese, smoked salmon, hash browns, grits, tea, and White Russians. Who wants eats?

I have an unusual item to share for today’s breakfast. It is sure to please those who love bacon (HM) and chocolate. It is a Mo’s Bacon Bar made with fine chocolate and………….bacon! My daughter (whose nickname happens to be Mo) gave me a taste of this yesterday. It’s suprisingly good. Here is a description from the maker’s website: Deep milk chocolate coats your mouth and leads to the crunch of smoked bacon pieces. Surprise your mouth with the smoked salt and sweet milk chocolate combination.

What a cute kitty !!! Right now, I’m bellying up to the virtual food bar, I need to gorge, it’s been a very busy time packing, coming home from vacation in Maine (which is gorgeous and a great time with friends), being supportive of my father’s cancer surgery. The second exploratory is in 3 days. If they can’t get the cancer out this way, they will have to open him up from the outside snd replumb him from the bladder to the right kidney. All your vibes and hugs are appreciated big time - just keep the caffeine and chocolate coming until Sunday September 2nd is all I ask. Thank you !!!
