Clementine

Location: Iowa City, Iowa, USA

Clementine is a black calico I adopted from a local animal rescue a couple of years ago. She’s grown into the biggest love bug and likes to lick my toes when I get out of bed in the morning. She is a sister/friend to Sunshine and Oliver, both of whom were also adorable kittens.

Group hugs! Hugs are the best! Happy Friday to all of you. We made it through another week. My manager may not be in today - working from home. Wish I could work from home. I so did not want to get out of bed this morning. I think I would enjoy working 10 hour days four days a week or 8 hour days with working at home on Fridays. If I ever land a perm job, that is a schedule I would see if I could eventually work.

Hubby drove around a billionaire this week but not one penny received in tips! I told my husband that I couldn’t do that kind of work. He said well it isn’t going to be for much longer hopefully. So here is hoping he lands the job he wants…me too.

TGIF!! Breakfast buffet is open…

Oh Karin, I didn’t want to get out of bed either. It was so comfy there with me and my babies (even though they take up most of the bed).

It’s only 10:30 a.m. and I feel like I’ve been here all day!!

Come on 4:45!!!

2007-09-07 16:46:24

It’s only 8:43 and this place is so quiet that you could hear a mouse fart, pardon the expression. Very few people come into the office. I will be sneaking out the door at 2pm for an interview for a temp job that has better employment opportunites. They are a large technology firm. I told my husband about it and he says the commute may not be any better and could in fact be worse. I told him that this other company may have employment opportunities versus the current temp job where they are in a hiring freeze.

I almost made it. I am more concerned about pouncing on the daily kitten than the Sept. 15th tax deadline that has been keeping me very busy.

Isn’t she beautiful, I just love Calicos.

Well, back to work. Have a nice day everybody.

HM,

I once dated a guy who, although his band didn’t win their HS talent show, was certainly the most popular with the event most talked about.

They did a punk rock version of “Little Bunny Foo Foo.” Imagine, if you will, a Sex Pistols guitar riff, with Johnny Rotten screaming into the microphone (non-standard British accent and all):

“Bang your head! [guitar]
Stale cheese and bread! [guitar]
Lit’le Bunny Foo Foo! [guitar]
‘Oppin through the forest! [guitar]
Pickin’ up th’ field mice! [guitar]
And bop ‘em onna ‘ead! [guitar]”

I think you get the picture!

I’ve escaped for a few minutes. White peaches are much sweeter than normal peaches. I’m in PA. We can’t get white peaches at the store, but a local orchard grows them, so we get them from there. We’re making jelly too I guess. At least we’re getting closer to being done. There’s only 3 of us doing it, and a half bushel, or basket of peaches. I think that’s in the 100’s, which doesn’t seem like much, but when your neck hurts it does.

I worked at a library in south GA a few eons ago and books on tape is how I got hooked on the Anne McAffery dragon books. Had to drive to FL for work and that was all it took.

My fiance works 30 miles from home, 10 hours a day, Friday through Monday, and I have to get up at 4:00 am to drive him (he smashed up my car and my parents don’t trust him to drive theirs). Then, on Monday, it’s his Friday, but my other Monday, because my week of college classes starts. Ho-Hum. Don’t know when I’ll experience another Friday. Maybe by Thanksgiving. I’m sure we’ll have off.

Julie I can commiserate. Ten years ago I worked for 2.5 years as a cashier at the local electronics store while I worked an office job. I would work 8:30-5:00 at the office job and then jam over to the electronics to work from 5:30 to 11pm. I worked the office job Mon-Fri and the cashiering job a couple of nights during the week and always on the weekends. I experienced no days off from October until February each winter. It was hard but I needed the extra money. I couldn’t do that now.
