Pixel

Pixel is a lucky little boy and we are even luckier. Son of our resident stray; he is the only one that survived out of his four siblings. He loves to play and get himself into situation like this! He was about two months in this pic and even though the case is closed and he’s too big to get in, he still can’t keep himself out of trouble, especially when playing with his 10 year old brother. At night though, he’s a great snuggler.

AngelaMotorman — what does your nickname mean?

“Photoshopped — I can tell by the pixels” is a standard comment at reddit.com, the social bookmarking site. It shows up every time someone posts a picture that seems like it can’t possibly be just a photograph, and by now the phrase has become a standard joke.

“Angela Motorman” was the name of the protagonist in Shirley Jackson’s final short story — to oversimplify, she’s a woman who determines to change her life by changing her name, and only decides on the last name as she’s exiting the bus and thanking the driver (”motorman”).

I used it as a pseudonym when working for an underground paper 35 year ago, and it seemed like a good screen name. I’ve always thought that if life got to be too much, the easy way out would be to move to another state and change your name. Of course, that was before everyone got all crazy about identity theft and security and made that escape route a lot harder…

Sorry if this is OT, KittenMaster, but she asked. Back to regularly scheduled cooing:

Pixel is as cute as any kitten that ever climbed into a really, really bad place to investigate whether there might be some nice toys or snackies inside. At least it’s not the underside of a recliner chair or sofa bed…

Thanks…sometimes it’s just interesting to know how someone arrived at a screen name, especially one as unusual as yours. Smiles…

Thank you to all of you who have commented on what beautiful eyes he has. He really does have eyes that blue. They are one of my favorite things about him. And thank you to the KittenMaster for putting him on here. I have gone to this site everyday for quite a while now and when we got this picture of Pixel (we hadn’t named him until later. after this pic he was CPU for a while) I thought this was the perfect place for me to try to post it.

Also, as much as it looks like it, this is not photoshopped. We actually had to turn the computer off very quickly when he climbed in. Thank god for the power switch on the back. I tried to catch him when I saw him starting to go in, but he was too fast for me. For some reason, he really wanted to be in the computer, or on the power supply that was hooked up when mine was going out. (That’s why so many wires, the power supply my boyfriend hooked on to it has a ton of them on top of the ones from mine that was still in the case). We kind of think that maybe he thought it was purring like another cat. Before we got him out (a very difficult process since he was wedged in pretty good) we had to take this picture!

As for the Siamese. I don’t know what mix he is. His mom is a Calico and last year she had a litter of 3 kittens. One was grey and white, one was black and white, and the other one was orange and white. 2 had to be trapped and taken to the pound because they would never let us be friends with them and the other passed away this spring very suddenly. He was the only one to get to be friends with us and his death was very painful to us. Then this spring, Mama, as we call her, had the 4 kittens. one was grey, one was black and white, one was kind of orangey, and Pixel came out like this. So many strays have come and gone that we have no clue who got to Mama. I do think that there had to be a Siamese around here at some point for him to come out the way he did.

Again, thank you for all your wonderful comments. And just in case your wondering, he is definitely a closer to mega pixel now! He’s getting so big. I just thank God that he seems to be thriving so well. We weren’t quite sure he’d make it, but now he is full of life and quite the terror since he’s hit his “teenage” years.

I know this little fellow and he is just as cute for real as he is in this picture, except for being quit a bit bigger now. You can’t keep your hands off of him. He sure likes to play and does get a little rough. LOL By the way, I am his grandma. LOL

Love his expression, and love hearing about the current status of the little fuzz balls we have on this site.
