River

The weekend after Thanksgiving, River was found living in a paper bag in a local park in the freezing rain. She was underweight and unaccustomed to humans when we adopted her, but she is quickly growing in size and spirit. She now enjoys a lot of attention and is a playful “little sister” to our other two cats, who are 18 and 6 years old.

Great photo against the snow–kind of a “then and now” perspective.
Nice people to save her from the cold.

I thought that too, like a reportage where River shows ‘There’s the spot. It was a cold rainy day…’

An excellent photo btw.

Excellent indeed. I can feel the warmth radiating from River’s dry, comfy perch contrasted against the awful weather outside.(the windowpane detail is esp. good) Such a blessing to see this little beauty here when you know how she got her start in life! God bless you folks, and Kittenmaster too.Happy 2008! :)

oh my goodness, look at those lovely markings on River! Thank you so much for rescuing her. I think when kitties narrow their eyes a little like that, they are telling you they like you.

I like you too, River! Please cuddle her for me.

Wonderful that you rescued her! I hope that she doesn’t even remember those days, just the days of being warm and looking out at snow and wet and all those unpleasant things.

Hi, Kittenmaster!
Hi, Alex!

What a beautiful kitten River is! How could anyone do that??? But how fortunate this baby is to have found a safe and loving home. I know that River will repay you for that tremendous kindness many times over.

Aw … I would say “poor kitty,” but thanks to you she’s found her forever home! :-) Why can’t people at least bring kittens to a shelter rather than dumping them? I recently found a tiny kitten in a wet, filthy box by the side of the road. It had been raining, and I only saw it by sheer luck as I drove by. Luckily I had several friends who were looking for a kitten, so the little one was quickly adopted!

Give little River an extra ear skritchie for me! :-)

She’s soooooo cute! Lucky for both of you that you found her, and glad the older kitties like her too. Bless your little family with many more years together.

Thanks for all the lovely comments! River is such a special cat, and she added such a sparkle to our holidays! I was so worried at her size but she’s making up for lost time–she was well under a pound when she was found a month ago, and now she’s over 4!

Thanks again, and she’s getting extra cuddles from all of you!

Congratulations on being acquired by little River. She is beautiful and is guaranteed to give you joy. I found my little one outdoors as well. She’s still a little bit feral and likes to fight, but she’s also a little lover sometimes and is an endless source of entertainment.

I am so glad that you saved River. We recued two 8 week old kittens thrown out in a paper bag on a sleeting December day in MA 20years ago. We were blessed with almost 19years of joy and miss them terribly.
May River flow through your life for many years to come.

Adorable girl! I’m so glad you found her.
She looks so similar to one of my 3 rescues, Biscuit. Biscuit is a black and white bob tail and has that same cute little blotch of a mustache. He was so sick when I found him I didn’t think he would survive.
Bless you for saving that precious girl.
