Stirling
Location: Jersey, Channel Islands

Stirling is part Maine Coon part moggy who loves people (he thinks he is human!). We got him at seven weeks and although he was the runt of the litter he hasn’t looked back, he’s now one and he weighs a very respectable five kilos! His favourite pastime is sleeping, especially with his mum & dad, totally at ease flat on his back!

Oh what a sweetie! And of course he thinks he is human–most kits do!
Love the name Stirling. Where are the Channel Is? UK?
I think it’s near Spain?
The Channel Islands are off the southern coast of the UK (go to the Isle of Wight and look down!), and are actually closer to the French coast. There are four main islands, Jersey (where my husband’s family is from), Guernsey, Alderney and Sark, and they were occupied by the Nazis in WW2.
Thanks MCW … I had never heard of these. You are never to old to learn!
WHAT A CUTIE !!!
Wow, he looks mischievous! I’d love to give him a squeeze.
Part Human? I like to the there is part cat in humans!
AMEN!
Aww…..he’s on the hood of a car! He looks a little unsure… Look at those ears! He’s so tiny!

What a doll-baby! Look at that darling pose! Snuggle snuggle, wuzzle wuzzle…hmmm…kitten fur smells so good!
What is Stirling about to pounce on? Perhaps a bit of chicken sausage?
Hello out there in the Channel Islands… You sure have a cute baby kitty! Now that he’s a big guy, he must be keeping you warm this winter.
I must show my husband Chris today’s kitten; his family’s from one of the Channel Islands! What a gorgeous, snuggly kitten.
“I’m not so sure that this hood surfing is a good idea!” this cute fuzz seems to be saying.
Oooh, it’s baby Jiggs! *sniff* Brings back wonderful memories. Have fun with this little fella who will one day become a gentle giant.
Peeking around the (invisible) corner FUZZ
My first response was AWWWWWWWWWW
AWWWWWWWW! He is adorable!
what a little cutie! he looks kinda scared up there on that big car.
I didn’t want to look at the Daily Kitten today because my sweet cat of six years, Buster, died in my arms this morning. But I couldn’t help myself and seeing cute Stirling helped me in my grief.
OH,buster26dusty - I am SO sorry! How very heartbreaking to have that happen. Please know that we all have you in our thoughts and prayers. And prayers for Buster, too.
I’m so sorry buster26dusty, I’m sure you gave Buster a good and happy life. {{hugs}}
I’m so sorry to hear about Buster..but he will be playing at rainbow bridge waiting for you, playing with all the other kits. Why don’t you come to the TDK cafe maybe it will help..{{hugs}}
I’m so sorry buster26dusty. Between the kittens and the people, TDK is very therapeutic and has helped me tremendously over the past few weeks.
I am so sorry about Buster. Hugs to you today. didn’t want to look at the Daily Kitten today because my sweet
I am so sorry about Buster. {hugs} I am sure you gave him the the best possible life.
I am so sorry for your loss–he will be happy playing with all the others who have just gone to the Bridge until you are reunited.
Buster26dusty. So sorry about your loss. Glad Stirling was able to ease the grief a little. It’s always so hard to lose a loved one. Let each tear that falls be a healing one.
Peace, hugs and purrs
Looking just a bit unsteady on those cute and fuzzy little feet there, Stirling!
Beautiful baby…I thought all cats were part human!!
So sorry buster26dusty…I had tears in my eyes yeaterday with the daily kitten, and now your sad news. Buster please look for all the many friends you did not even know that you had at the rainbow bridge. buster26 , I wish you peace today.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOHH!!
What a sweetums wuttums!! Snorgles all the day long!!!
Buster26dusty know that Buster is at the Rainbow Bridge with out friend Jerry/Chester and all of our kits that are patiently awaiting our arrival.
The isle of Jersey. Did y’all know that Tupelo MS was the first place in the United States to import Jersey cows from the Isle of Jersey? Rock on!!!
Tinafish
That I did not know..cool, I didn’t realize that is where the Jersey cow came from…my Mr. Bug (RIP) looked kinda like a jersey cow..
YIKES! I had a major typo, what I meant to say was Buster is at the Rainbow Bridge with OUR friend Jerry/Chester…..Sorry I haven’t had enough caffene yet.
tf
we know what you meant..{{{HUGS}}}}
I find that most cats think they are above human level, i.e. they actually train us rather than the other way around.
Stirling is quite the little loveable kitten!
I got a wonderful kitten fix earlier this week when the office manager and her sister brought in their two new Himalayan kittens for us to see and snuggle and play with. (I told her that she needs to send their pictures in for TDK.)
Thank you all for your kind words. I live on the Navajo Rez and the ground is frozen, so in a box, I put in feathers, beads, arrowheads, catnip, cat toys and then Buster. As the sun rose, I placed the box in a wedge of a tree and backed away. I am still very sorrowful, but my cat Dusty seems to know and is purring on my lap as I type.
Thank you all again.
buster26dusty, where do you live on the Rez? I used to work out there as a nurse and my territory pretty much went from Shiprock out to Sheepsprings. Many miles on Hwy 66. I love your description of the ceremony that you had for Buster and I can picture your actions in my mind. I wish that it could have been a Healing Ceremony but you have given Buster all that he needs to help him make his journey.
I work in Ramah and live in Timberlake, an unincorporated area in the Zuni Mtns, much further south of Shiprock. Our school has Zuni and Navajo students. I am a 6th grade teacher. I’ve lived here 4 years now, from Seattle, never knowing I’d come to love the sheer beauty and serenity of this area. I built a log cabin and live alone, so when Buster passed this morning, it just tore me up. My Dusty has been a comfort. Why did you leave, may I ask?

HI, buster26dusty - I hope today is a better day for you and that you will find this note. You need to come to the chat room so we can talk more. We lived in Farmington, NM and I worked with developmentally delayed and medically fragile babies on the Rez. It was hard at first to be accepted but in the time that I was there I finally was able to make the families realize that I was there to help their babies. But my husband was transferred back to El Paso, TX and so I had to leave. I cried buckets because I had come to love my time on the Rez. It was frustrating at times but it was a privilege to work with the Navajo people. I still carry many of my Navajo beliefs with me! It is beautiful country and where you are located sounds lovely. I love the contrasts and stark nature of the Rez.
Please come to some of the chats so that we can exchange experiences!
buster26, thank you for sharing your lovely tribute to your beloved Buster with us. I can feel how very much you love him…believe me, Buster has taken that love with him anit will carry him through until you meet again.
I’m so sorry for your loss, buster26dusty. Thank you so much for sharing your ceremony with us. It was very moving. {{Hugs}}
Heh heh! Stirling does look a little mischevious peeking around like that.
Stirling: “ok… Mum just went back inside. I’ll snatch up the keys, pick up my friends at the corner and then we can hang out in front of the fish mart all morning while she does those kickboxing tapes. I’ll have the car back in plenty of time for the afternoon errands and she’ll never know…”
buster26dusty, I am so sorry over your loss. I am glad you came here. You are in good company. Bless you and your little sweetie. ^..^
Stirling looks like one fluffy bundle of mischief!
What a beautiful little kitty…
Yoo Hoo…Stirling..Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty.
BTW..there is also a Channel Islands located off the Santa Barbara Coast in Central California…It’s a national park.
What a face!!***snorgle***
Oh dear, he’s so fluffy and endearing and mischievous and gorgeous and… THUD!
Awwww, what a cutie! I’ll bet he is a BIG boy now (and what is it with Coonies wanting to sleep on their backs all the time?)
What a cutie pie!!
ha ha ha, love the expression on little Stirling! what a baleful look, like he got too near the kitchen sink and got drips of water on him. Ten kilos is pretty respectable, please give every kilo an extra squish for me!
AWWWWWWWW….
I want a hood ornament like that one!
Looking guilty FUZZ

5 kilos! I guess that makes him 11 pounds Sterling
–H
what a cutie!! He looks like he’s in a big action movie . almost like the car is going down the road real fast and he’s on the hood just cruisin!
what a QT
Good one, Hamachi! I love the way he’s leaning into the curves, doing a little balancing act, almost like he’s going down a ski slope!
Stirling is such a cutie!
buster26dusty, sorry to hear about Buster, the comforting thought is that he has now crossed the bridge and is in the knowing hands of those whom have crossed before him and they are showing him the ropes.
this is what happens when you’re in a hurry and you don’t read through the posts…so sorry to hear about Buster. It’s hard to say goodbye to a dear friend, but we can take comfort in remembering all the good things they brought to us in the time with us they had. I still miss my kittycat we had to put down, and that was twenty years ago.
