Xerxes

This is little Xerxes, god-cat and conqueror of mice and men, devourer of cat food mountains and defiler of kitty litter deserts. While he’s not out subjugating barbarians, he enjoys sleeping on the couch all day, extensive belly rubs and staring out the window, while day-dreaming of sleeping, eating and more belly rubs. Hey, even the ruler of the known world (at least the world he knows) needs some R ‘n R. After all, living this high life is his birthright as he descends from the noble Exotic Shorthair dynasty.

What makes it your favorite, Kittenmaster? You mean Milo wasn’t your favorite? I do love Xerxes bio., though!

Xerxes is my favourite because

a) his bio is great -any description that includes the phrase “subjugating barbarians” is OK by me.

b) I love the expression on his face.

c) I love the shape of shorthairs. They’re my favorite type of cat.

Nooo!
This is wrong!
You can’t say you like one kitten more then the other!
It’s like Dad saying which sibbling is his favourite!

You love them all, right? dont’cha? huh? huh?

Of course I love them all - all kittens are equal.

But some are more equal than others.

His description does it for me. That’s fantastic!

Handel wrote a piece of music called “Xerxes Largo.” Although it’s instrumental, Xerxes here looks like he could be singing it! I’m sure he can reach a wide range of notes.

Comment by JerseyGirl

The Handel piece is from his opera Xerxes. So this cute, intimidating-looking kitten has an entire opera named after him!

Not only an opera, but there was also a king of Persia named Xerxes. Royal reincarnation?

He is certainly a beautiful kitty. He may be singing, he may be giving a royal order ,or, with the independence of most felines, he may just be yawning, oblivious of the world around him.

Can he be Tigerlilly’s boyfriend? She has regal blue blood , as she is an exotic also.
Of course he rules, is there any other way?
Continue to conquer handsome Xerxes, as you have all of us.

What a darling despot! He looks SO much like my Hermes (click on my name to see my baby boy of twenty-plus pounds). Hermes is a silver-shaded American shorthair who looks a LOT like Xerxes. Xerxes looks like he was captured just before a GREAT BIG YAWN. Love his round face and jowls.

This kitten is so fabulous he managed to make me get off my southside and register so that I could comment on him. There has never not been a kitten featured who wasn’t fabulous but Xerxes is fabulouser because … well, he knows how to pose, that’s for sure.

The mighty Xerxes, the one true ruler of Daily Kitten, has graced us with relaying you his following decree:

A simple offering of catfood and belly-rubs is all the god-cat requires in token of your submission to his will.

As for us, his proud mommy and daddy, we are most pleased with his conquest of the internets (it will steer his armies clear of moonlight raids on our bedroom for at least one night) (we hope).

And in all modesty, we heartily thank you for your kind comments.

It really made our day. As for Xerxes, he’ll get some more… well, whatever the heck he wants, really.

Small bonus: here’s the larger sized picture (not sure if it’s available through TDK directly, I wasn’t able to find it):

We’ll be sure to post more images of him on the forum.
