Don't get me wrong, I understand the need for an occasional harmless treat, and am not some crazy health nut (I'm guilty of liking fries myself), but I think it's safe to say that fries are not harmless for cats. They may like them because the grease has protien, but fries are also loaded with sodium and carbs. Too many carbs can lead to diabetes. I have a diabetic cat who has a special high protien low carbohydrate food, so please, everyone, be careful, and if you want to give your cat a special treat make it a cat treat or something that is mostly protien. I know we all want our cats happy and healthy.

I worded the above badly, just in case anyone is still reading. Onions are deadly for cats. What I meant to say was that an occasional treat of something that isn't harmful (such as onions, which are harmful), is ok.

While a steady diet of anything bad is not ideal, an occasional treat of something that isn't harmful (like onions which all my cats are attracted to) won't hurt a thing. My beloved late tuxedo lived to be 18 and he spent the first ten years of his life at approximately 27 pounds (his appetite was deranged, for real). Maybe he might have made it to 20 or 22 if I could have dieted him down sooner, but he was a happy, loving boy who was spoiled senseless and loved dearly. I wish that could be said of every cat on the planet.
