Polys aren’t exactly rare. Some people seek them out (and find them easily). They are definitely “interesting” cats - I have a poly and that thumb-like group of extra toes is nearly opposable. My parents have a similar poly.
In my experience though, they don’t like people touching their feet, nor trimming their claws. Those extra claws can sometimes be problematic as well - my cat can’t retract all her claws fully, and has one that gets ingrown and we’re going to have our vet remove.
We had a handsome polydactyl, ” Ceiligh “, who had a couple of unusually shaped extra toes which had to be removed as the claws would get caught on things. He was very feet sensitive but was most affectionate & sweet . Our vet said that in his experience, polydactyls were extra loving!
What a precious kitten!! We once had a buff colored male tabby (Rusty) who was a poly. I was led to believe that the poly’s are often nicknamed “Hemingways” because the trait became common among Ernest Hemingway’s large cat population around his Key West, Florida home. After Rusty suffered a severe forelimb fracture in the 1993 ice storm winds, the forepaw was amputated. He then became our “hemi-Hemingway!” Undaunted by the injury and amputation, he lived comfortably for many more years, as an INDOOR cat, only! Mary
Hello I used to have a cat with 6 toes. They are supposed to be good luck you know. Take good care of em. They are good snugglers too. Something really special there. Good Luck and Have a Great Thanksgiving.
All you people need to keep your “AWWWWWWWWWW…” under 25 “W’s”
If you think the cat is cute enough to warrant more than 25 W’s in your “AWWWWW” then you should just go kidnap the cat and sacrifice it because it is too good for this world.
At first I thought that this gorgeous kitty was an Abysinian with extra toes, then I realized that he is a gorgeous orange striped kitty with an adorable face. And yes, my reaction when I first saw him was AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Some moron thinks he/she is funny with those juvenile and sadistic remarks. It’s pathetic when someone trolls a kitten site with obviously nothing better to do.
I like how skinny that kitten’s tail is, perky those ears are, wide those eyes are. This makes me really miss my cat’s kitten age.
Careful, that moron keeps whining that it’s his/her privilage to make useless remarks about little kittens. Seems he’s/she’s very sensative about people pointing out his/her stupidity. WAAAAAAAAAH WAAAAAAAH WAAAAH!!!
Nigella is mine and she is sooooooooo cute. Thanks for all the nice comments. She has 26 nails and she’s very good about clipping them. I had another cat with “thumbs” but she is the first I ever saw with 6 toes on each back foot. I didn’t even realize she had so many toes when I pick her out of the litter. What a surprise when I got home.
Oh, a Hemingway cat! All the cats hanging around Ernest Hemingway’s former home on Key West are direct descendants from the original cats who lived with him. They have been so inbred that they are all poly. A friend of mine has a poly “Hemingway” cat from when he lived on Key West. The kitty has numerous “fingers and toes.” Most of the extra digits do not have claws, I noticed on my friend’s Hemingway cat. Very unique!
I love this little kitten. When I get to work the first thing that I do is look on this website. In fact, this little six-toed organism is on my background. That way I can look at him all day!~
By the way…The more you ignore #10’s comments he’ll eventually stop. So please, pay him no regard. All good things come in time…he’ll stop eventually if you just don’t say anything about his comments.
But anyway…little Nigella is quite the show stealer. His little feet look like human feet!~
I believe it’s about time to ban this useless DevilDark clown. No one will miss his worthless comments. He adds nothing constructive and is obviously here only to promote trouble. Get rid of him.
Beautiful kitty!!! My poly is kind of clumsy, like she’s not entirely sure where all of her toes go. As for the stupid mean people, there is a special circle in hell reserved for them; so we real kitten lovers don’t have to worry about them or their idiocy.
Such a cutey. She looks a lot like my Dax when he was a kitten, although she has more toes. Dax is pretty good about letting me clip his claws which is good as he has an extremely short toe on his right front paw.
Awwww what a cute little kitten!!!! Those paws are adorable!! And that face; so curious!
your kitten looks so much like my new kitten henry.
he’s so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That has got to be the cutest kitty ever!

Shut up and go away!!! Useless idiot!
i think someone should kidnap you, then we dont need to listen to your stupid remarks.
Why are you on this site? If you don’t like something, move on.
Your comment about sacrificing any creature is totally inappropriate and senseless.
Being too good for this world is obviously lost on you.
I hope you choke on your sacrificed turkey
AAAWWWWWW CUTE!
Disgusting.
AWWWWWW

I’m not trying to be a dick or anything, but i really think they cat has disgusting feet. Sorry folks.
At least the owner isn’t lying about their cat… that burns me up so bad…. so bad…
What do you mean lie about their cats. Her feet are very cute. How could you think anything about a kitten is dissusting.
I believe it’s about time to ban this useless DevilDark clown. No one will miss his worthless comments. He adds nothing constructive and is obviously here only to promote trouble. Get rid of him.
i second that idea. ban him for good
nigella is such a beautiful and inquisitive little kitty! And her toes are the best.
