Hobo

HoboHobo was found this fall in the bolster of a boxcar. She was 3 weeks old. The train had travelled from a yard in North Carolina to my Husband’s railyard in Slekirk, NY. That’s about 780 miles over the course of three days with no food or water. There were no other littermates in the bolster, where her mother likely gave birth to the litter. We hope the rest of the babies were carried off by the mother before the boxcar left the yard. Hobo can balance on ANYTHING, and this is probably what kept her alive. She is now a precocious four months old and tries hard to drive our fat old male cats nuts. Little do they know she will soon rule the roost!

That’s a cute name and a cute kitten! I’m glad that she made it and I hope that her brothers and sisters are OK too (wherever they are). Love those whiskers! And that face!

We truly wish the rest of them made it, but it is doubtful. Her wide-eyed expression has stayed with her, she’s 6 months old now, and still very cute.

What a sweetheart. She looks happy to be out of the boxcar and into a loving home. Saving animals is very good karma.

A very cute fur-baby. I’m very glad she’s found a loving home.

My very first cat was named Hobo. I was 6 or 7 years old. He was a neighborhood stray. Mom and Dad said I had to see if he already belonged to someone. I walked around our block; found 1 person outside to ask if the kitty was their’s (no, it wasn’t). Went back home and declared him homeless. Mom and Dad gave in. He was one of the best cats I ever owned.

Hobo is so thin in this picture. Guess she’ll have to grow into those whiskers. She is a good looking kitty and I’m sure she knows how much she’s loved in her new home.

Good luck with hobo. I believe it was meant to be, that she be found by your husband. I pray that her momma and siblings are not harmed. If I understand correctly, Cats gain their ’sense of balance’ and awareness from their whiskers alone. That being true, it would explain her miraculous journey.. You are doubly blessed.

That is so great that you found & rescued Hobo! I live in Troy, not far from Selkirk. I wonder if you let Steve Caporizzo from Channel 10, or any other local news media know about Hobo’s story? Seems like it would make a nice feel-good story for all of us animal lovers. God bless you & Hobo…may he have a safe & long life!
