Mercy

MercyI’m 5 weeks old and was rescued from the street on Mother’s Day by my new mommy Sara. I’ve got a sore paw but that’s not stopping me from having lots of fun.

Mercy, Mercy you are beautiful. What a great Mother’s Day gift. Thank you for rescuing this beauty!!

Hello Fuzz Pack!! I need some advice. The babies are doing fine with weaning. But, Grace is meowing a lot. She is upset. Help, how can I soothe her. Tomorrow I am taking Grace to her “maybe forever home” with Marylynn who lives in Spring, TX. She is very interested in adopting Grace. Her grandson wants to adopt Foster & Pete . Marigold & Brutus should be ready to fly to Rose by the weekend. WE DID IT FUZZ PACK!! I can’t thank you all enough for your support!

Deb, Grace senses that something is up. Cats are VERY intuitive! She doesn’t know what’s going on, just that something is going on. Congrats Deb! You’ve done a fantastic job!!!

Deb, PetsMart and Petco (and I’m sure other pet stores) carry a product called “Comfort Zone with Feliway.” It contains an anologue of feline facial peromones. It is odorless to humans, but it calms cats and kittens in stressful situations. It comes in a room diffuser or a spray to apply around the cats surroundings. I used it for the first few months I introduced my 2 abandoned kittens into my home with my “main cat”. It works very well.

I adopted my oldest Mamie, after she had her litter and they had all found homes. Her first night in my apartment was a little sad and strange since she walked ALL over and in every nook and cranny she could, meowing. I later found it most likely was because she missed her little ones and was looking for them. It MIGHT be possible that Grace is feeling a little seperation anxiety?!? I think the pheromone idea is great but suggest that Grace get to go to a home with at least one of her kittens. I don’t think a home were a cat already does or does not exist will not have some challenges. Depends on lil miss Grace. Mommy kitties tend to be more, if you will, open-minded about who they share their space with. My Mamie bonded extremely well with her younger step-sister Sunny and in short order. I have four cats and the accepting of other cats would be Sunny. Tiger is the most Alpha Female at 16 pounds!! Charlie (boy) is just 4.5m months old and keeps the girls on their toes.

Kissses to the new households and to all those wonderful people who find room in their homes for those in need. You will forever have a grateful pet.

Hi, everyone!
Here’s a cute item of the day!
*Things I, the Cat, Must Try To Remember!*
(author unknown)
Screaming at the can of food will not make it open itself.
I should not assume the patio door is open when I race outside to chase leaves.
If I put a live mouse in my food bowl, I should not expect it to stay there until I get hungry.
The guinea pig likes to sleep once in a while. I will not watch him constantly.
If I bite the cactus, it will bite back.
Television and computer screens do not exist to backlight my lovely tail.
I will not stand on the bathroom counter, stare down the hall, and growl at nothing right after my human has finished watching “The X-Files”.
No matter how dangly and attractive they are, my human’s earrings are not cat toys.
If I play ‘dead cat on the stairs’ while people are trying to bring in groceries or laundry, one of these days it will really come true.
My human is capable of cooking bacon and eggs without my help.
The canned cat food is already dead. I do not need to kill it by swatting bits of it all over the floor.
I am a carnivore. Potted plants are not meat.
I will never be able to walk on the ceiling, and staring up the wall and screaming at it will not bring it any closer.
It is not a good idea to try to lap up the powdered creamer before it all dissolves in the boiling coffee.
The goldfish likes living in water and must be allowed to remain in its bowl.
If my human wants to share her sandwich with me, she will give me a piece. She will notice if I start eating it from the other end.
I cannot leap through closed windows to catch birds outside.
The large dog in the back yard has lived there for six years. I will not freak out every time I see it.
I am a neutered cat, not a peacock, and prancing around with my tail fluffed up will not make my parts grow back.
If I must give a present to my humans’s overnight guests, my toy mouse is much more socially acceptable than a live cockroach, even if it isn’t as tasty.

*Why I am mad at my cat today*
Ok, Kim and Kira, (since you two seem to enjoy my pathetic stories) here’s a gem for you (and everyone else):
I bought a brand new cell phone on Friday night and used it to make 2 calls Saturday afternoon. Since I hadn’t charged it yet, the battery was low and I plugged it in, assuming I could use it in a few hours. When I checked it a few hours later, it was completely dead. Odd, huh? So, I thought that the outlet may not be receiving any power (it’s in a corner of my bedroom and rarely used) and I decided to plug it into another outlet. Well, as I’m walking with it to another outlet, I noticed the cord was in TWO SEPARATE PIECES! Atticus, my bad, BAD tabby had chewed entirely through the cord! There were fang marks all over it! I’m assuming he didn’t get an electrical shock…he looks perfectly fine and did I mention BAD? So, that is why I am mad at my cat today.

Atticus, go to your room right now! Naughty boy, you know better than that! Be nice to your Momma!

Dee (snicker, snort) I gave him what for. He should behave for you now. :)

We have electrical tape on most all of our “pluggable” electronics. As we are owned by 8 cats (all large Maine Coons), it became a preventative measure. We believe they are now past their chewing on cords stage…we hope…we pray…we are grateful they don’t chew on us…well, they don’t break the skin at least.

It’s not a kitty story, but I have a cute dog vs. cell phone story… My brother was in a meeting at work and one of his co-workers got a call on his cell phone, which he let go to message. During a break in the meeting, the co-worker checked the message and turned to my brother asking, “Did you just call me? I’ve got a message from your cell number.” My brother had forgotten his phone at home that day, so they listened to the message - “grrr…chomp…growl…chomp…” as my brother’s dog, who had accidentally bitten down on the redial button chewed the cell phone to pieces.

Hello Mercy - you’re adorable!

That is SO funny. I read an article recently that gave the TRUE cost of owning pets. Of course, we figure we’ll spend money on food/veterinary care/grooming, etc., BUT, we rarely factor in curtains, shoes, furniture, cell phones, CELL PHONE POWER SUPPLY CORDS (sorry, still mad at my cat).

Already wise Mac-Loving kitten. She is too cute and pink is very becoming of her.

One my rescues had fluid in her lungs when she was 8 days old. She fought and is a big loving beast today. I still have her yellow vet wrap bandage from her IV catheter put away. It is healing, this little angels are healing and helping us at the same time.

What a gift this little cutie is.

My Hagrid stepped or sat on the phone at 5am. He happened to call my Mother, who is 86, when he hit redial as she was the last person I talked to. Mom called my son at his house and he in turn called my granddaughter, who lived with me, on her cell phone. She came upstairs to tell me to call my Mother and son to tell them I was ok. Mom thought something had happened to me. Lol

Ty Dee ;)…I use headsets and my kitty is veeery jealous when i am on the phone so will chew the cords…My mom came up with a really good cord solution… we take plastic tubing for aquariums, slit it open on one side and wrap it around the cord..it works great. This will work on computer cords and cell phone cords as well. Just thought I would pass that along!

As for poor sweet little Mercy, hope her paw gets all better real soon…she’ll be running around getting into good trouble before you know it i’m sure
