Looks like they are plotting something. ’specially the one on the right. Maybe they are planning some sort of cute act and working out the details.
Anyhoo, glad that you had a nice ‘visit’ with the kitties. Happy that they found nice homes too. Did they go to the same house or did they get separated?

Hi, everyone! This great article is almost a year old, but I had no idea the pope loved cats! I love hearing about highly public figures being animal lovers—perhaps they can be more persuasive in getting people to be more humane. And you can even email the pope and ask him for blessings for your pets! How cool!

After weeks of speculation, the cat is out of the bag — Pope Benedict XVI loves felines. It turns out that the pope is the proud owner of Chico, a black-and-white domestic short hair that lives at the pope’s home in the Bavarian town of Tübingen, Germany.
Agnes Heindl, long-time housekeeper to the pope’s brother, Father Georg Ratzinger, who lives in nearby Regensburg, told MSNBC.com that Chico is currently being looked after by the caretaker of the pope’s private residence.
“There’s also a multi-colored tabby cat that hangs around a lot of the time and keeps Chico company,” says Heindl.
Ratzinger says that while growing up, the pope and his family always had cats. But now, he says, the only cats in his own home are a “collection of porcelain plates with painted cats on them, mementos from different European vacations with my brother.”
The fact that the pope is a cat person has been met with a positive response around the world. His e-mail address at the Vatican (benedictxvi@vatican.va) has been swamped with messages from animal lovers asking for blessings and his prayers, according to Vatican officials.
In Rome, it is still a hot topic of conversation over cappuccino in the city’s many sidewalk cafes.
But, says Cardinal Roger Mahony, archbishop of Los Angeles, who was in Rome for the pope’s inauguration, *“The street talk that the pope loves cats is incorrect. The pope adores cats.”*
Why not ‘Pope Francis’?
In fact, some Catholics are asking why the pope didn’t choose Francis, after St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, as his papal name.
According to local news reports, the pope used to walk the streets of Borgo Pio, his former Roman neighborhood just east of the Vatican, where neighbors likened him to Dr. Dolittle with a Pied Piper charm. Stray cats would run to him when they saw him coming and he used to prepare food for them daily on special plates.
The pope’s publicly announced fondness for cats has once again put Rome’s felines in the spotlight. Currently one of the hottest selling tourist mementos in the city is a little cardinal hat for cats that goes for $15 in stores such as Barbiconi, which specializes in clergy robes and accessories. Mahony’s cats both have cardinal hats, gifts given to him during his recent trip to Rome.
Mahony, who owns two silver tabbies named Raphael and Gabriel, believes that cats are perfect pets for clergymen “because they are wonderful companions. There is almost a spirituality about them. Their presence is very soothing.”
Cardinal Roger Mahony of Los Angeles is a cat-lover, too. Here, he’s shown with his feline Gabriel, who is named after the angel.
Previous popes also have kept pets. Pope Leo XII had a dog and a cat. Pope Pius XII kept caged birds in the papal apartment and a goldfish named Gretchen. Pope Paul VI is said to have once dressed his cat in a feline version of cardinal robes.
But currently, Pope Benedict XVI must abide by the rule against pets in Vatican apartments “although one cardinal has a dog and everyone in Rome knows it,” says Mahony.
So why is Pope Benedict XVI barred from having cats at the Apostolic Palace? Joaquin Navarro-Valls, the official spokesman for The Holy See press office in the Vatican, refused to comment. His secretary explained, “That is a private issue. The Holy See doesn’t divulge anything about the pope’s private life.” However, a little coaxing did reveal that his secretary was thrilled the Pope was a cat lover, as are many in Italy.
*A ’special place’ in the hearts of Italians*
“The Italians have a lot of history relating to cats dating back to the 13th century when diseased rats plagued the cities killing thousands of people,” says Mahony. “Desperate citizens brought in cats to kill off the diseased rodents. Since then, they have always had a very special place in the hearts of the Italians.”
According to Dr. Enrico Moriconi, president of the newly formed AVDA, or Veterinari per i Diritti degli Animali (Association of Veterinarians for Animal Rights), Italy is a world leader in animal rights law. Since 1991 it has been illegal to kill healthy dogs and cats living in shelters.
Turin, the prosperous industrial city in northern Italy that will play host to the 2006 Winter Olympics, has passed strict animal protection laws, dating back to the time of Guisseppe Garibaldi, the political activist who founded the first animal protection society in Italy, the Ente Nazionale Protezione Animali (Society for the Protection and Care of Animals), in 1871.
YOU REALLY TALK TOO MUCH. SAY LESS!
ME AND MY KITTEN BEN ARE INVINCIBLE.
Sigh, as usual, each day cuter than the last.
Its like a cuteness exponential function.
Oh, these kittens are beautiful. Their coloring is amazing. The only things I find in my backyard are lizards
.
Has anyone noticed that their coloring matches the bedspread EXACTLY?? Ok, now I’m scared…..
Hey Dee, you are very observant..Only saw the cute kitties until I read your comments…spooky :))

Love that comment about the “coffee” kitty! What nice coloring…they are both adorable.
They are adorable! I could never have given them up!
I am glad they’re in a good home though.
Have you found some homes for them yet?
What sweet kittens. Love their coloring. So glad you took the time to find them good homes.
Sorry about yesterday Kittenmaster. It’s just that, I guess, when we post we are not thinking about the time and where you are at. At least I don’t. It’s just as hard on the other sites that have different time zones than mine here in the U.S. Thank you for the time you put in bringing us all these precious kittens.
Ditto on the apology to KM. I didn’t know KM resided in England. One of my favorite places in the world. I just think everyone is on “Texas Time”. Soon I will be on “Maryland Time”. Thank you KM for removing the offensive remarks and for the cute kitty pictures!
WHOOPS! Forgot to thank Karen C., who emailed me and reassured me that the KM would do the right thing. Thanks Karen C.!
They are too cute — trouble on the way! It is wonderful to know there are people out there helping these angels.
I just wanted to tell you that I am very proud of what you are doing and what you have acomplished! Plus the kittens are kuties!

How much did you get for each?
Is selling kidnapped kitties as profitably as you make it sound?
If so, I think I have a new career on my hands.
What beautifully marked kittens!
What beautiful babies! May God bless you and them always.
Oh mama—-CUTE FUZZIES!!!!

You are so lucky to have found them! I couldn’t have made myself let them go! I hope they found good homes.
Dee,
Your “Rainbow Bridge 9/11″ post yesterday had me in tears. I am a “semi-retired” Marine, and was not on active duty on 9/11/01, but I tried returning the next day. I am so happy to know that I will one day be greeted by someone who will love me unconditionally and without question. You will pardon my mood, please, but I am severely depressed right now, as I am surrounded by boxes that have been packed. You see, my wife is leaving me and I have not been able to cope very well. Save a spot for me at the bridge. T
Dear Thomas: My father, a career retired Marine, died 9/30/04 at the age of 80. Although he went through bouts of depression, he NEVER GAVE UP. I understand what you’re going through, having been through a divorce with small children involved. Sadness and despair make it difficult for one to see past the pain to the joy we may have later. Please find someone to talk to; a trusted neighbor; a minister; a mental health professional. There is no shame in acknowledging and asking for help. I’m sure there will be someone waiting at the bridge for you, and for me, and there was for my father. But I hope it’s far later than sooner. I’ll be thinking about you.
Thomas-Having worked with the military and vets I wanted to say I really appreciate your service to your country. It is so very tough to go thorugh personal crisis, please don’t give up. There are people out there wanting to help. You may want to try the VA, a minister, your doctor, or look under mental health services in the yellow pages. In addition to seeking help, consider rescuing an animal like the cuteness above for your very own. Animals need us in a way that humans don’t, which can often help fill that void. Good luck.
Thomas, I agree with the other posters. Please find someone to talk with to help ease your pain. I wish you peace of mind and comfort. I hope your coming days are better real soon. Adopting a kitty sounds like a good idea, if this is able to be done. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Good luck.
The kittys are adorable. Stay posting Thomas, we all care.
I missed getting here yesterday (6-16) thanks to the KM for the little reminder and it is duly noted.
These two are the summit of cuteness…..can’t wait till we’re in a larger apt so that I can get another kit…maybe this time I will actually be it’s person rather than my hubby…I think he sweet talked Onyx into liking him better…LOL
Dear Thomas,
Please know that you will get through this. I too experienced an unplanned parting w/ my spouse and that I am offering you a {{{{{{{cyber hug & shoulder}}}}}} for the moment. Please seek out your friends, clergy and family, they want to be there for you…something I pleasantly discovered as I readjusted!! And…consider a fuzzy friend to bring in to your home too. This website is such a joy for me to read each day as allergies prevent me from having my very own fuzz. Reach out Thomas, and don’t look back!
Your Friend in the World of Fuzz,
Jayne
Dear Thomas,
I am choking back tears as I write this. This is such a difficult time. Divorce is similar to a death, I know, I have been through a terrible divorce with small children. Twelve years later, the babies are teens and I am a happy person. I truly belive that my fuzzy friends have been my salvation. They truly know when I am unhappy and stay by my side regardless of how I look or act or how many buckets of tears I have shed. If you can, go adopt some fuzz, there are so many little bundles of fuzz that can melt a grown man’s heart. May peace be with you.
Tina in Tupelo, the birthplace of Elvis.
btw, this site lifts my spirits everyday and I look forward to new fuzz.
CUTE!!!!!!!!
I AGREE! THEY ARE CUTE!
:-). I LOVE KITTEYS!
THESE KITTENS ARE THE CUTEST THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!
My visting kitties made it on the web site, YAY! They were adopted the very next day we took them to the FurKids here in Atlanta. They were sweeties. At first they were hissing at us but it didn’t take them any time at all to get used to humans. The tan one was fearless, even ate dog food out of the dog’s while the dog sat there and watched her.
We loved them!
