ShyLO

ShyLOThis picture was taken July 15th 2006. I had purchased a bed for her, but she would rather sleep in my handbag. I think we’re going to get along great!

Is it me or does ShyLO look like a Moglawi (or however you spell them things from Gremlins before they mutate into them ugly things). She looks very fluffy and cute. And all you see is her little head poking out from the handbag. And the ear fluffs? Simply cute squared! :-)

I am not into SiFi so I don’t understand the other comments but this kitty is a little honey bunny.

This is kind of cute….

*How Many Cats Does It Take to Screw in a Light Bulb?*

Persian: “Light bulb? What light bulb?”

Somali: “The sun is shining, the day is young, we’ve got our whole lives ahead of us, and you’re worrying about a burned out light bulb?”

Norwegian Forest Cat: “Just one. And I’ll replace any wiring that’s not up to date, too.”

Cornish Rex: “Hey Guys, I’ve found the switch.”

Sphynx: “Turn it back on again, I’m cold.”

Singapura: “I’ll just blow in the other cat’s ear and he’ll do it.”

Siamese: “Make me!”

Birman: “Puh-leeez, dahling. I have servants for that kind of thing.”

Maine Coon: “Oh, me, me! Pleeeeeeaze let me change the light bulb! Can I, huh? Can I? Huh? Huh? Can I?”

Exotic: “Let the other cat do it. You can feed me while he’s busy.”

Manx: “Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.”

Russian Blue: “While it’s dark, I’m going to sleep on the couch.”

Korat: “Korats are not afraid of the dark.”

British shorthair: “Light bulb? Light bulb? That thing I ate was a light bulb?”

Turkish Angora: “You need light to see?”

American Shorthair: “None, catnap time is too precious to waste!”

Yep, I saw them…she looks about the same as she did 20 or 30 years ago…unbelieveable! Remember the band leader who discovered her and married her? 20 points if you can name him without an online search! :-) (that was me, who commented above, inadvertantly posted my real name…shhh….forget…)

Yes I can! (as someone with an excellent memory for all trivial things) Xavier Cugat! (spelled right?) My mom is from Spain, and loved telling everyone the Charo (who also is from Spain) story.

You win! Isn’t it amazing the trivial stuff you remember? My mind is just built that way….filled with snippets of useless information. My mother saw Charo in Vegas when she was performing with Mr. Cougat and his band. In the day, they were a pretty “colorful” couple…he was several years her senior and, I believe, she was still a teenager when she left her country (don’t remember…Puerto Rico?) with him!

Also- is anyone here from the Kansas City area looking for kittens? My mom’s cat Jellybean is about to have kittens and they don’t have room to keep them, and they don’t want to take them to the pound either. E-mail me and let me know!

Don’t you just love these stories?

*725 KATRINA PETS TREATED FOR HEARTWORM, THANKS TO YOU*

A total of 725 heartworm-positive dogs and cats displaced by Hurricane Katrina received lifesaving treatment at 202 accredited veterinary practices between November 2005 and May 2006, reports the American Animal Hospital Association on its Hurricane Heartworm Treatment Program. Funding for the program was provided by grants from HSUS, the Humane Society of Greater Miami and Adopt-a-Pet, and the ASPCA—thanks to the generosity of animal lovers who contributed to our Disaster Relief Fund.

“We’re heartened by the outcome of this program, which made it possible for many more rescued animals to survive and be placed in good homes,” says the ASPCA’s Julie Morris, Senior Vice President, National Outreach.

Dee,
As you’ll see on Kat’s Cat, I’ve also sent a letter to our newspaper’s animal columnist asking to heighten the awareness of what is happening in China as well as asking for any further suggestions on what we can do-makes me sick!

Comment by Dee from Tampa

Kathleen,
That is great! This very newsworthy story is not getting enough media attention. After 50,000 dogs were killed, they are planning on a cull of half a million more—mostly by clubbing. And most of these dogs are domesticated pets–not strays. Many of them have been vaccinated against rabies, as well. This is a story out of the dark ages.
I’ve emailed all of the local air personalities at talk-radio programs to discuss this atrocity.
I have to repeat my favorite quote by Edmund Burke:
* All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. *

This is so horrific. The picture link yesterday sickened me. I will write. We must remember that this is a prime example of a few deranged leaders who commit atrocities against the innocent and without the support of the people. Reminds me of a few “other” leaders… but this is not the place to be political.

Re dog massacres:
If you read the stories careful this would actually be the third reported massacres (though there are reckoned to be many more). The first was in Luoping County, Yunnan Province in April (see photo captions), the most recent in Mouding County, Yunnan County last week, and the planned one on Jining City. The dates on the photo captions (April 29) didn’t reconcile with the stories.

I absolutely love ShyLo! She’s adorable. I want to see her again when she’s older. I *love* the fuzzy ears and sweet face.
I think it’s a cat requirement to sleep outside the kitty bed. My cat, Galileo, has 3 kitty beds to choose from and never sleeps in any of them.
I love your link Graziela. The translator was a great idea. I’m glad there are good people like you out there to help and protect helpless animals. Besides checking TDK, I check your site at least 3 times a week.
