This kitten makes me sad in a good, but bittersweet way. I lost my white angel a couple of years ago. She was 18, so we were together a long time. This kitten could be a clone of my girl, who was the smartest, most affectionate (to me!) cat friend anyone could want. This kitty is a smarty too! Anyone can see that by looking at that alert face.
I can remember as a child sitting by the window and yelling to my mother “Mommy, the milk man is coming, I can see him”. Back in the day we had our milk delivered to our door.
Eggs also. That dosen’t seem possible today, sad!
Sorry to interrupt the cooing and about this pretty little girl but Nina, how do you pronounce your name? My name is Nina and I pronounce it like the number nine (not like a knee).
Sheba is beautiful. Does she have blue eyes? Aren’t most white cats with blue eyes deaf?
I, too, have a tiny one-year-old cat. I can’t stop squishing her!
Yes, white cats with blue eyes are almost without exception deaf…but only if they do not have any colored hair on them *anywhere.* One black or grey hair and they don’t have the gene that makes them deaf.
I have a white cat with a tiny patch of black on her forehead with one yellow eye and one blue eye.., she is not deaf. I have heard the theory about blue eyed cats being deaf, and I believe your theory obviously, but I wonder how that works? Maybe a presence of another breed besides persian prevents deafness or something.. just some thoughts
My family had “kitty” (dont blame me, my brother named her) while I was growing up and through college. All white, no other colors at all to speak of, two true blue eyes and not deaf. She also slept on her face. Odd, but not deaf.
She is absolutely adorable! I too have heard that white cats with blue eyes are deaf. Do you think kittens know when they are being extra adorable? I think they do. My little Trixie does extremely cute things and then looks over to see if I’m watching her. Of course, I always am, she’s a lot more interesting than telly!
Mary–
I LOVE the name Trixie! She was one of the characters in one of my favorite tv shows: The Honeymooners. And, as a child, we had an adorable Spitz named Trixie.
What a beautiful kitten! Lovely surroundings, too. To the folks worried about deafness, I bet Sheba’s hearing is fine. Looks like a grey smudge on her forehead for one thing, and dark amber eyes. I was also just reading that blue-eyed whites are more likely to be deaf if they’re pedigreed. Apparently mixed-breed white cats have a larger gene pool to draw from and are less likely to be deaf, even if they have blue eyes. Interesting!
I seem to recall reading somewhere that the gene for white fur and the gene that results in deafness are linked loci in a cat. They don’t always coincide, but they’re much more likely to than other random genes.
1. After your humans give you a bath, DON’T LET THEM TOWEL DRY YOU! Instead, run to their bed, jump up and dry yourself off on the sheets. This is especially good if it’s right before your humans bedtime.
2. Act like a convicted criminal. When the humans come home, put your ears back, tail between your legs, chin down and act as if you have done something really bad. Then, watch as the humans frantically search the house for the damage they think you have caused. (Note: This only works when you have done absolutely nothing wrong.)
3. Let the humans teach you a brand new trick. Learn it perfectly. Then the humans try to demonstrate it to someone else, stare blankly back at the humans. Pretend you have no idea what they’re talking about.
4. Make your humans be patient. When you go outside to go ‘pee,’ sniff around the entire yard as your humans wait. Act as if the spot you choose to go pee will ultimately decide the fate of the earth.
5. Draw attention to the human. When out for a walk always pick the busiest, most visible spot to go ‘poo.’ Take your time and make sure everyone watches. This works particularly well if your humans have forgotten to bring a plastic bag.
6. When out for a walk, alternate between choking and coughing every time a strange human walks by.
7. Make your own rules. Don’t always bring back the stick when playing fetch with the humans. Make them go and chase it once in a while.
8. Hide from your humans. When your humans come home, don’t greet them at the door. Instead, hide from them, and make them think something terrible has happened to you. (Don’t reappear until one of your humans is panic-stricken and close to tears).
9. When your human calls you to come back in, always take your time. Walk as slowly as possible back to the door.
10. Wake up twenty minutes before the alarm clock is set to go off and make the humans take you out for your morning pee. As soon as you get back inside, fall asleep. (Humans can rarely fall back asleep after going outside, this will drive them nuts!)
Frankie was originally thought to be a boy kittie but after SHE got big enough to really tell she was a girl who as most people know little girls love their daddy. She bit my ex wife every chance she got. Maybe that’s why she’s my ex…….
I did a real double take when I saw Sheba! She looks just like my little white Akasha when she was a kitten! Oh, the pretty little pink ears! Like little flower petals, like little sea shells! Akasha’s sixteen now.
Sheba’s a lovely new little life. Love her always!
In response to whether or not yesterday’s kitten, Leo, has siamese blood—-here is a question posed to Marilyn vos Savant in Sunday’s Parade Magazine. Very interesting….
When I take flash photos of people, their eyes often are red. But on photos of my cats, their eyes are green. Why?
—Dee Forzi, Murrieta, Calif.
Human retinas have no color, so they reflect the color of the blood inside them. Siamese cats also have uncolored retinas, and they do the same. But most feline retinas (specifically, an area called the tapetum) are green, so the reflections are green.
Dang it you took my line, that was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this beautiful little girl! She is very regal looking, but I bet would act just like any other kit if she had the chance….
Sheba looks like a Kitty Angel. She has a very peaceful, serene look to her. She looks exceptionally soft and cuddly, too. I just love how kittens and cats look like this one minute, then run 100mph the next.
I found an interesting article on Steve Irwin and his wife Terri. I knew he did alot for animal conservation because of The Croc Hunter and his other documentaries. But he and Terri did more for the planet and animals than the public knows. The article is too long to post, but here’s the link.
I started skewl today I haven’t had time to bring Izzy down today because I already hae homework! Eleventh grade is harder than it sounds….. I will find time for her though.
school can be challenging sometimes, but you definitely can do it! Maybe you can go to where Izzy is to do your homework around her. Is that a possibility?? Just wondering. You can play with her a bit, then move onto the homework, it will help just being in the same room with you
What a lovely little sweetheart! I am in love :))
awwwwwwwwww, too CUTE! …so cuddly and SUCH a curious a pose!

*I THINK I SEE THE MILK MAN FUZZ*
I can remember as a child sitting by the window and yelling to my mother “Mommy, the milk man is coming, I can see him”. Back in the day we had our milk delivered to our door.

White cats with blue eyes are usually deaf, but only if they are PURE white. No stray hairs of another color at all.
Sheba is gorgeous. How soft must that beautiful fur be?!
Sheba is a deluxe kitty!
‘WHO DO YOU THINK I AM, THE QUEEN OF SHEBA? WELL, YOU BETTER!’ FUZZ
… I wanna lay down but I spot a bird in the bush across the street…
Itty Bitty Pretty Kitty!
Look at the adorable pics of a snow leopard cub! The whole slide show is great.

*Playgirl Fuzz!*
….ahem….has she had a cheek implant or is it just the lighting?……..fuzzaduzzduzz……………………………
Where did you get a picture of my cat Frankie?
Frankie was originally thought to be a boy kittie but after SHE got big enough to really tell she was a girl who as most people know little girls love their daddy. She bit my ex wife every chance she got. Maybe that’s why she’s my ex…….
Animals are a good judge of character.
