I love the tuxedo kitties. One of my kitties wears a tuxedo (although at 22 pounds I don’t know if ‘kitty’ is the right name for him -lol). Simba looks very sweet and cuddly.
My chubba bubba Domino curled up in a shoe box when he was a kitten while I was crafting on the dining room table. The following year he tried it again and at 22lbs. he split the box I laughed so hard and if cats gave a dirty look he sure did that day.
My thoughts and prayers are with all the ones who lost loved ones 5 years ago today. The Rainbbow Bridge must of been a happy place that day.
On the fifth anniversary of this very tragic day, I’m going to re-post this (bittersweet and heartfelt) story. Prepare to have a cry over this….
*WELCOME AT RAINBOW BRIDGE*
by Alexander Theodore, Bouvier, Fourth Year Resident
On the morning of September 11, 2001, there was an unprecedented amount of activity at the Rainbow Bridge. Decisions had to be made. They had to be made quickly. And, they were.
An issue, not often addressed here, is the fact that many residents really have no loved ones for whom to wait. Think of the pups who lived and died in hideous puppy mills. No one on earth loved or protected them. What about the many who spent unhappy lives tied in backyards? And all the dogs and cats who were abused. Who are they to wait for?
We don’t talk about that much up here. We share our loved ones as they arrive, happy to do so. But we all know there is nothing like having your very own person who thinks you are the most special pup or kitty in the Heavens.
That Tuesday morning a request rang out for pups and kitties not waiting for specific persons to volunteer for special assignment. An eager, curious crowd surged excitedly forward, each one wondering what the assignment would be.
They were told by a solemn voice that unexpectedly, all at once, over 3,000 loving people had left Earth long before they were ready. All the pups and kitties, as all pups and kitties do, felt the humans’ pain deep in their own hearts. Without hearing more, there was a clamoring among them - “May I have one to comfort?” “I’ll take two, I have a big heart.” “I have been saving kisses forever.”
One after another, they came forward begging for assignment. One cozy-looking fluffy kitty hesitantly asked, “Are there any children coming? I would be very comforting for a child ’cause I’m soft and squishy and I always wanted to be hugged.” A group of Dalmatians came forward asking to meet the Firemen and be their friends. The larger working breeds offered to greet the Police Officers and make them feel at home. Little dogs and kitties volunteered to do what they do best, cuddle and kiss.
Dogs and cats who on Earth had never been given a kind word or a pat on the head, stepped forward and said, “I will love any human who needs love.”
Then all the dogs and cats, wherever on Earth they originally came from, rushed to the Rainbow Bridge and stood waiting, overflowing with love to share — each tail wagging a little American Flag.
Thanks for the great story, Dee. I really liked it. Does anyone know why there wasn’t a new kitten pic posted today? I usually have one by now. I thought maybe something is down somewhere, in my area. To Kittenmaster, Thanks for your wonderful kitten website. It is the highlight of my day.

What a sweet baby!
Five years ago, I sat right here, with my 12 oz. kitten in my arms, watching the unbelievable. Having grown up in the NY area and having lived in Northern Virginia for 10 years, these were places I knew. The world has changed, but that little kitten, Meowmepurr, was my personal affirmation that the world would go on. She is now 5 years old, and weighs 6 pounds. What she lacks in size, she makes up in Catitude. My thoughts and prayers are with all of those touched by that horrible day…
~Jan, Meowmepurr’s Mumma
My baby girl has pink pads — mostly. There are a couple of black blotches on her paws and back legs — that and she climbed my leg this morning to reach the kitchen counter. I was torn between laughter, shock and scolding her.
My “brat” Vixen loves to play in boxes (I call her a brat because we have been together almost 13 years and she is quite spoiled). I can’t seem to get them empty fast enough and she’s right in them. She also loves to play in the laundry basket.

Gotta love that face, the hi mommy i love you what are you doing face………………..
This time five years ago, my husband went to testify before congress over E learning, He saw the plane go into the pentagon, he spent hours trying to get home……I had to get the kids off ft Meade, as they went to high school there, and then in tears we all spent the day on the couch crying………. We went to NYC shortly after on business, and I went to look out the window and there it was “ground zero”
Brandi Lee, My heart goes out to you and your family. And everyone else on the list who is struggling to make it through today. We each have our own stories from 5 years ago because 9/11/01 impacted all of us. To the Kittenmaster and everyone who reads and posts here, *thank you all* for making the world a kinder and gentler place. This is a sane place in an often insane world and I appreciate you all. It is nice to have a place full of kindness, support and sweet kittens to retreat to during the day and I have been here today more than most days. If I were a kitten I would take my little paws and moosh on you all in gratitude.

Thanhs, Dee for the “Rainbow Bridge” report/story. We all need to remember the critters we once loved are on the “Other Side” camp, waiting for us! And like the story, those humans that left this world suddenly, I truly believe, will be received by not only the humans from their families, but also all the critters who weren’t loved here on this plane.
Take care.

Yeah-i also use this as my daily retreat from that crazy world out there. It makes me realize that there are others who care for our furry friends as much as i do. I know i cant save them all, but one by one-we ALL make a difference with each can of food we open and put out for the strays of the world. GOD BLESS ALL
On 9/11 I was working at a video arcade, I had to open up and didn’t watch any news before heading out to work. So here I come biking up the hill. A van stops by me, windows open, and I hear a voice on the radio talkin gabout a plane hitting a tower. I assume it’s an accident at an airport. I get into work, turn all the games on, and my first customer of the day comes in. I ask how he’s doing and he says fine, except for all these buildings being bombed.
I cry every time I read the 9/11 Rainbow Bridge story. It is a great reminder of who we have waiting for us on the other side.
Nextel has been glitching all over the place today…customer service is overwhelmed, and I can’t get a human to talk to!

My neice Bethany was on the phone telling me about the big boom she heard just minutes before I told her what happened from watching the Today show. She saw the second plane hit the second building as her window across Liberty Plaza faced the Tower. She was incharge of evacuating her floor and then was able to walk down from the 44 floor. She was one of the lucky ones that day no physical injuries but is still traumatized after all this time. She took a Greyhound bus here to GA to be with family as no planes were running and the trains were packed.
There are those who say that we are getting complacent and no longer feel the effects of 9/11, but I say they are sooo very wrong. Even now, 5 years later I cry my eyes out everytime something about that horrible day is on tv, and I am sure I am not the only one…..Blessings to the one’s left behind and peace to the one’s that were taken.
Simba is too cute….my Onyx tries that even now and he’s a big, spoiled (not my doing…LOL), brat!
You are not the only 1, Kathy.
This is still a very touchy subject for me. I went to work today, and it was a huge mistake! This is the 1st year I *had* to go. Not only could I not concentrate, but no one could understand why I was so depressed. (I’m crying now - and all I’m doing is writing about my day!)
On a happier note, I love Simba! He’s so sweet. I love his little white feet and the pink pads.
Do any of you cry for the thousands of innocent Iraqis or Afghanis who were killed? Do any of you cry for the thousands of poor black Americans who were denied aid for days in the wake of Hurricane Katrina? Do any of you cry for the thousands of Chinese people enslaved today in communist China? I hope you cry for them as well as the millions slaughtered in the genocides of the 20th and 21st Centuries. Hold them in your hearts too, as you do the innocent victims of 9/11.
Concerned, email me at brighid52605@comcast.net and we can debate this subject all you want, but I won’t anger the KM by doing it here. btw…have a great day!
Thanks for all the loving words, people. My brother is in the Navy and was supposed to be at the Pentagon that day, but missed a flight. The office he was to report to was in the center of the destruction. I still don’t know why I’m so lucky and others lost loved ones, but I hug him every chance I get. He’s currently serving in the Middle East. He loves to check up on the daily kitteh when ever he can. Hug a cat for a Navy guy today!!
Simba looks almost exactly like my George. George just has less white on his toes. Otherwise, same coloring. I almost wondered if you kidnapped my kitty.
why do they always want to go in boxes they dont fit in? How sweet!! =)
Where is new kitten?
I flay you, yes?
OH HOW SWEET. I LOVE BLACK AND WHITE CATS. WHEN OURS WAS A KITTEN SHE LOVED TO SIT IN TINY BOXES TOO.
It’s Simba! And the box he arrived in! Where their air holes in there?
Awww….sweet little face! Cat+boxes=cute!
We have a black and white cat, Edward, now 14 months and fully grown. Built like a linebacker. Simba is a cutie.
He reminds me of my cat i had as a child. very sweet little paws.
I love the tuxedo kitties. One of my kitties wears a tuxedo (although at 22 pounds I don’t know if ‘kitty’ is the right name for him -lol). Simba looks very sweet and cuddly.
Simba looks exactly like Cyber Kitty and I bet he purrs just as loud as he does too. What a cutie he is.

Tuxedo kitties! One of my two kittens I just adopted is a tuxedo, only she looks like she’s wearing white thigh-highs
My Domino had a black half mask and his back was black but his legs and soft squishy belly were white. He too had pink pads.
My baby girl has pink pads — mostly. There are a couple of black blotches on her paws and back legs — that and she climbed my leg this morning to reach the kitchen counter. I was torn between laughter, shock and scolding her.
Aww…he’s got the whole tuxedo suit, but no mustache.
Well, he’s a clean shaven guy! (lol) Very pretty kitty and looks to love.
I’m in the box! Very cute.
He think’s he’s schroedinger! So cute.
