WillowWillow is a sweet little girl that we just adopted a few days ago, after her whole litter was abandoned in front of a post office. She’s a little bitty thing, but our Siberian Husky dog adopted her the minute we brought her home.

Adorable! My tortie cat was about that size when I adopted her from the pound 11 years ago! Her eyes went through several beautiful color changes (for awhile they were purple) before deciding on lima-bean-green when she grew up. I hear torties are supposed to have a bossy attitude; my Mokey sure does! But she’s such a wonderful kitty I barely mind when she does things like wake me up at 5am because her favorite water dish is not quite fresh enough and she doesn’t want to drink from the other one. SPOILED.

I love, love, love torties :) I have two of my own, one I got as a kitten and one I adpoted as a stray cat on our acerage(turned out to be the neighbour’s cat they didn’t want anymore). This kitten reminds me so much of my two kitties I had to leave at home for college. Sigh. Such a beautiful kitten though! Especially since it’s a tortie. ;) And when it’s older I’ll bet it’s going to get some of the attitude too!

Whay is going on with abandoning litters of kittens lately? I wa driving home from errands today in the heat of the California desert, saw a cardboard box on the side of the road and just had a feeling….and guess what was inside. Four tiny kittens, eyes barely open and dehydrated and hot, but alive. Needless to say I rushed them to my vet who is going to keep them until they are well enough for me to bring home and raise. He said they will probably be fine because they weren’t left in the heat long, possibly for less than an hour but how could someone do that? The part of highway I found them on was very isolated and I only took it to avoid the endless construction out here. It was only by a miracle that I drove that way and stopped for the box. What are the odds? Obviously the person who dumped them is a horrible, dispicable person and if I could have just 5 minutes with them…well, never mind, this is a happy site after all. Thanks for listening everyone, I just had to vent. Wish me luck with my new family. Lots of love to all (especially all the unwanted babies out there.)
One last rant and I’ll stop: How dumb is it to know that you don’t want kittens but still let your cats get pregnant? Hello, it’s not that hard to figure out to get them spayed and there are lots of assistance programs to help with the cost. Ok I’m done, thanks again everybody.

*Bless* you a million times for adopting those helpless babies! Yes, I agree–people who abandon animals are not fit to live. And I agree–there’s no excuse. Neuter/spay your pets or don’t have pets. Also a good idea not to let pets run loose, whether they’re neutered or not–so many awful things can happen to them. Don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out.

It’s so good to read about good people like you who care about animals. May those kittens give you many cuddly years of purrs!

    What a stunning little girl!

I rescued a tortie baby from a construction site a year ago. She had the best personality and we adored each other. Sadly the pollutants she was exposed to before we got her out of there damaged her lungs and she only lived 13 months. :-(

Whipsey was my first ever tortie. The comments I’m reading here are making me think I need to make my next kitty another tortie! I just loved Whipsey’s personality. Only problem is she wasn’t good at spelling. Kept getting her Y and E mixed up. Kept thinking my toEs were her toYs. lol.

Christabean, you need to get a fountain to give your kitty fresh water all the time
