Rocky

RockyRocky is a ham. He is under the influence of catnip here and is taking a breather. He and his two brothers, Eric and Bob, are quite the trio!

Hi Dee!

Just read yesterday’s posting - How to prepare for a new cat- very funny.

Also posted a message for you but it was late in the day so I don’t know if you saw it.
I want to thank you again about my gang on Animalsmatterstome.org..I completely forgot.. So I looked and I just had to post another pix of Wally, you can’t see his face and he is so handsome!

It is cold and raining here boy I wish I was in Tampa!

I hope everyone has a great week-end :))

Evangeline–

Just saw the second pic of Wally–what a serene looking cat.

As for the weather, it is beautiful today—and will be throughout the weekend—temps in the mid-80’s with low humidity. Finally, a taste of fall. (Having grown up in Michigan, it still sounds so peculiar to think of this as “cool” weather, but it is jungle hot here for 6 months of the year.) But, I would love to spend the summer in Montreal. Florida summers are hellishly hot and humid.

I found out here in GA it is six degrees cooler in Hell. So when Hell got over crowded they opened a branch office here for the really hard core cases.

How are you doing today Dee?

I love this kitty baby today so sweet and looks gentle - can be so decieving!

Hi Dee,

WOW, you are very perceptive. Yes Wally is very serene. Always has been. The first time I took him to the vet, he was approximately 3 months, he purred like crazy when the vet examined him. She actually picked him up and put him to her ear, I guess it’s not the usual reception vets get. Then while we were talking he fell asleep on that cold table. He is a real sweet kitty my handsome big boy! “))

Dee and Susan,

I grew up next to the N. GA mountains. I lived in the Tampa Bay area for 7 years. You couldn’t pay me to leave my home in rural Texas between Houston and San Antonio to go back to either! GOD BLESS TEXAS!!!

I spent the first 40 years of my life in Chicago now I am being held hostage by a band of crazy people better know as my family in GA. I do miss the four seasons in the North. Down here we only have three seasons hot, hotter and oh my God.

Being an animal lover, I don’t get why people have to see animals as things they can hurt. Thanks, Dee, for the website on the bill. I can’t wait to see what the hack the government has though up. I hope this time it is better than some of the not-so-great bills they’ve passed and haven’t. By the way, I like your poem, Rudyard Kilping.

I just received this e-mail from the ASPCA. Isn’t this great?

*VICTORY FOR THE ANIMALS! DECLAWING OF CAPTIVE WILD ANIMALS HAS BEEN BANNED*
Great news! Declawing captive wild or exotic animals—including lions, tigers, wolves and bears—is no longer permitted under the federal Animal Welfare Act. In a recently announced decision of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the agency has declared that declawing cannot be performed with the intent of making the animals easier to handle. Per the USDA’s decision, declawing is “no longer considered to be acceptable when performed solely for handling or husbandry purposes,” as this procedure can cause much pain and discomfort, often resulting in chronic health problems.

Just in case anyone is interested about the outcome of the manhunt for the killer of the police officer and his dog yesterday, a SWAT team shot and killed him about 3 hours ago. It’s quite an interesting story, so I’ve included the link. And, please say a silent prayer for the officer (photo included) who ultimately lost his life by trying to keep his corner of the world a little safer. And, of course, keep Diogi, the K-9 officer who was killed in your prayers, too. He was a beautiful German Shepherd.
He left behind 3 teen-aged boys and a wife. Her birthday just happened to be yesterday, the day her husband was killed. So tragic….

The following link is an important one to all animal lovers. It is to urge your U.S. Representative to stand behind The Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement Act. The link is short and very informative. Sadly, in Florida, dogfighting rings are regularly broken up. This bill would turn these crimes into felonies rather than misdemeanors.

Hello everyone, its been so long since I’ve written anything here! I’ve been so busy with family and pets and jobs and such. Sarah’s pregnancy is going very well…she is such a trooper. Sarah is a doctor, and she insists that she doesn’t need any time off yet. The kids are wonderful! Christopher is a cute lil’ guy and already knows so much english! It’s amazing! We have a trip to Russia planned for two weeks from now, they are so excited! Captain, our dog, is adapting to not having all the attention. Everything has been so busy with the holidays coming too. I have been writing (I sometimes write poetry) and i have come up with another beautiful poem:
Watch the clouds dance through the sky,
watch the birds fly so high,
watch young ones grow and spread their wings,
let them loose
and they will sing.
