Beautiful Babies, Good one Rosie
poor little beebies! they look fairly well fed, who could abandon such sweeties. I pray for them, and kitties everywhere…
The poor Kitties. well I hope theyr’e doing well.
I hope someone took them in.
OMG!! They are soooo cute…. Just when I think that we have gone off the scale…. someone posts something like this…..
Dee, how’re you doin’ today? Hang in there… tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!
Thanks for asking, Harley Vixen—job stinks, but I had a very nice meeting with the co-owner yesterday afternoon. She said some very kind things and gave great advice on how to handle the situation, but every time I see any of these people, all of that wisdom escapes me and I feel sick. I know, I know, I’m a baby.
Ack! Fuzz! [splodes]
I want them all! I think we all have a soft spot for abandoned kittens. They are all adorable little fuzz balls.
Don’t they just look so ….. French??? How cute they are. I want them too.
Sweeties… I hope they’re all OK.
I want them all.
Beautiful Kittens ! !
Pauvre petite chattons. The one not on the plate reminds me of a late cat of a friend of mine. Her official name was sawdust, but they always called her bad kitty because of her cattitide! That one looks like she is gearing up to go do something about their situation. I hope someone takes them in.
BTW, I am on vacation next week and don’t know what kind of internet access I will have. So, if you don’t see me post, don’t worry, I will catch up with everyone when I get back.
Dee hang in there. Semi-evil being that I can be at times, when I have a co-worker that is giving me the cold shoulder or whatever, I will often seek them out, kill them with saccharine sweetness and force them to HAVE to talk to me. I mentally tick off the points as I watch them squirm uncomfortably. It is sad but some people don’t respect nice people. You have to be a female dog to them before they have any respect. Inevitably the co-worker that is moody and give the silent treatment gives up the attitude..
ppearson—you are so right—whenever I have to deal with them, I try to act as if nothing happened, but it really is like ignorning the elephant in the living room…
Ladies…. ppearson was being nice about the word… but do you know the definition of it?

I do not mind being called a bitch!
COOL–I never heard that…
Such sweet babies. I will never understand people.
I wish you could have told us how the person reacted to them.
Did he seem like he was going to take them in ??
As chet’s momma mentioned they do look well fed. I hope somebody is loving them preferably, indoors.
How cute are those furrballs??? Hope they will be okay!
Poor babies. I know it must have broken your heart to leave them behind. Hopefully they found forever homes. They don’t look too scrawny though so maybe somebody fed them?
This is so sad I hope someone takes care of these precious babies. They deserve a forever mom or dad too. I think you are their guardian angel for imforming the owner . Let’s hope he/she is a guardian angel too!
therese
aka Casseau’s and Bubo’s forever mom
They look cold–huddled against each other. And are they sitting in a plate holding their food? I hate seeing stray cats like this. They should be sleeping on a soft, warm bed–preferably a bed for people!
They don’t look cold to me it looks more like they are trying to draw comfort and reasurance from each other.
But what did the owner SAY? This picture is going to stay with me for a long time.

*Halloween May Be Scary For Your Cat*
Although most people don’t actually associate a black cat with witchcraft or bad luck these days, any cat can become the victim of thoughtless or even cruel pranks as Halloween approaches. As much fun as Halloween is to people, it can be terrifying to a cat. To make sure your kitty doesn’t get spooked, take a few simple steps to keep her safe.
If you have a black cat, be sure to keep him inside. If he has to go out, use a collar and leash on the days just before and during Halloween. Cats of other colors should be watched closely if they go outside. Make sure your cat is safely inside before nightfall on Halloween night.
If you open your door to trick-or-treaters, make sure your kitty is contained in a comfortable room with food, water and a litter box. Put a sign on the door or tape over the doorknob to remind family members that the cat is in there and not to let him out. Even the friendliest of cats can become frightened by the constant barrage of people at the door in strange costumes. Your cat could be traumatized at the very least, or at worst, bolt outside and run away terrified.
If you throw a party, it’s best to kennel your cat away in a safe room as well. People in costumes could be very disturbing to your cat. Well-intentioned guests could feed your cat something she shouldn’t eat, or accidentally let her outside. It’s very difficult to entertain guests and make sure your cat is kept safe, so a closed room with a sign on the door will ease your mind as well as your cat’s.
You may light a jack-o-lantern or put candles around your house for ambience – this is another danger to cats, especially if you don’t usually have lit candles around. If your cat sets his tail on fire, it could result in severe injury or even death. Place candles where your cat can’t get to them.
If you’re thinking about dressing your cat in a costume for Halloween, make sure the costume is comfortable and safe. Some cats may like wearing a costume, but most will not. If your cat doesn’t seem to mind, make sure you’re watching your kitty at all times, and remove the costume once everyone’s enjoyed the show. If your cat looks frightened, indignant or angry when you try to put a costume on him, better back off. It’s not worth it.
Finally, you’ve heard it a thousand times – no chocolate for kitties! This may be easy to remember on Halloween night, but if you have kids, they may leave their little goodies around after Halloween, where your cat can investigate. Chocolate is toxic to cats and they should never eat it.
Have a safe and happy Halloween!

The (*4 Mousketeers*)! D’Artagnan, Porthos, Athos and Artemis.
I believe it’s Aramis. Artemis is the Greek goddess of the moon (also known as Diana).
What beauties!
This is a warning for the people who don’t like when I post tear-jerker stories like this. It’s beautifully written and very bittersweet and I like to share stories like this with my cyber friends…and isn’t crying supposed to be cleansing, anyway? haha
*Did You Hear Me When I Said Goodbye?*
I remember the day I brought you home from the shelter. They told me you were ten months old, a Golden Retriever, Great Pyrenees mix and weighed ninety pounds. My wife and I wanted a smaller dog, but when our eyes met and you looked at me so expectantly with such a hunger to be free, I couldn’t resist. You knew that didn’t you? You got under my skin and into my heart in just those few seconds. When you were let out of the kennel why didn’t you jump up like the other dogs? Were you on your best behavior? Of course you were. You were so beautiful, and even though the glossy gold of your fur was black at the roots resembling a bad bleach job I didn’t care. From that moment on you were mine and I was yours and I named you Beau.
We bonded immediately and I marveled at how intelligent you were. You quickly learned the names of your toys and also what “sit,” “lie down,” and “stay” meant and when you wanted out, you’d touch the door knob with your nose. We’d go for our walks in the morning and you were so eager you’d gently grab my arm in those massive jaws and pull me toward the door then sit patiently as I attached your leash. Then you’d bound outside pulling me with you and I know I said some harsh words to you but you just ignored them.
Did you hear me, Beau?
One thing I could never do was teach you to heel. You had a stubborn streak in you, but that was okay as long as you didn’t pull too hard. Remember the first day when we came back from our walk and I led you to your “play area?” We played “fetch” with that knotted rope. From that day on, when I unclipped your leash, you’d make a mad dash for that spot and wait, ears perked, your eyes wide with expectation as you barked for me to “hurry up.” You’d run circles around me as I tried to get that rope from you, but that was part of the game and you loved it so much I didn’t have the heart to scold you.
You scared me once, you know. The first time you came up to my chair, looked straight into my eyes, bared your teeth and growled caused my heart to thud in my chest, but that was your way of saying, “lets play, daddy.” And when I tried to ignore you, you’d sit back and bark in that deep voice of yours. If I ignored you further you’d bound into my chair, your front legs in my lap and swipe my face with your tongue. “Down boy,” I’d say.
Did you hear me Beau?
When I sat in my chair, you’d lay your head at my feet looking up occasionally to make sure I knew you were there. Of course I did. By that time you weighed over 100 pounds. Who could have mistaken your presence? Then you‘d sigh contentedly, close your eyes and soon we’d both be fast asleep.
You rarely let me out of your sight either. Whether I was working in the yard, or sitting at the computer, you were always by my side. Digging in the garden, your nose would be inches from the shovel and I was afraid I’d hurt you, but you were always fast on your feet. What was irritating were the times you’d growl and try to nip my ankles or grab my foot as we walked together, but you never tried to hurt me. You just thought it was fun even though I yelled at you to stop.
Did you hear me, Beau?
Then came the dark days. Those days when you became lethargic and refused to eat. The vet said you had Lyme’s disease and you were given a month’s worth of antibiotic. You seemed to recover after that, and your appetite returned, but you wouldn’t eat regular dog food. Instead I fed you “people food.” Of course you were spoiled, but I didn’t care. It was a simple thing to prepare an extra portion of food each evening. After all we were buddies.
And just when we thought you were returning to health you refused all food and I had to coax you to drink water by putting my hand in your bowl and bringing my filled palm up to your muzzle. You’d look into my eyes, not really wanting any but doing it just to please me, after I pleaded, saying, “Please, drink baby.” and your tongue would touch my open hand.
Did you hear me, Beau?
Even after all the tests we put you through, he didn’t know what caused your sickness and had never seen anything like it before. You were so young, barely two years old, and full of the love of life. Did you know? Did you know you’d be with us for only a short time? Is that why you were so desperate to leave the shelter?
I didn’t want you to leave us, Beau. I couldn’t bare the thought of having you put to sleep. Yet I couldn’t let you go through it without being by your side. We had made a commitment to each other and I’d stay with you till the end no matter how much it bruised my heart.
Did you feel me stroke your head and listen to my whisper when, for the final time, you looked into my eyes then went peacefully to sleep?
Oh, Beau. Did you hear me when I said goodbye?

Tears here…again…. makes me think of my last two dogs…. it is soooo hard to lose them….
I used to work for a vet and when he had to put an animal down he would wisper in it’s ear, “Say hi to Peppermint for me”. He had a cat that wouldn’t let him leave the house without playing with his shoe laces. It broke me up every time.
Rosie—that opened up the floodgates for me! What a beautiful thing for him to say. Sounds like a great boss.
Yes, very sentimental boss you had there. Why can’t I meet a nice fella like that?!?!
Saw this news article about a “Clone you Cat” company that is shutting down. Im sure cloning is somewhere in the future, but I dont think cloning pets is a great idea for a variety of reasons. Anyway, it had to do w/ cats, so that you’d enjoy $32,000 US is a lot for a pet.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061012/ap_on_bi_ge/pet_cloning_2
Thanks, Elaine—that was interesting—I’m glad they closed down.
Actually when it first started it was $50,000. They thought if they lowered the fee to $32,000 it would bring them more business.
Oooo la lah FUZZ!
They look so purposeful! Shouldn’t they be napping?
Dee - Hang in there. I am reading a book about dealing with nasty people. I’d be happy to send you a copy. Contact me offline if interested. Nasty people are certainly not worth bringing you down. After all, there are kittens to love!
Thanks for the kind offer, James! I may take you up on it. Long time no hear, eh?
I have been very much out. I tend to drift in and out of reality, in general. But this time, I have a good excuse: I was in Hawai’i with my most excellent sis, brother-in-law, niece and nephew. Too much fun, for sure! Wish I was still there!
This looks like a really easy recipe that kids would like for Halloween…
*Ghost Cookies*
1 package of peanut butter cookies (shaped like a peanut)
1 block of white chocolate
mini chocolate chips
Directions:
Melt white chocolate as directed on package. Dip peanut butter cookie. Place on waxed paper. Then add two chocolate chips for the eyes.
Way cool! I’m not a white chocolate sort of person, but that sounds so cute I have to try it!
As for the Kitties- How cute all sitting on a plate! I love the little fluffy gingers!
Hi Dee ! Glad you are back. The cookies sound tasty. I looked up the last recipe you posted, The kitty litter cake. That was a hoot! Gross but really funny! I haven’t tried it but it sounded yummy. I hope things get better for you. I know what it is like to be treated like so. As for today’s kittens pic, they are so adorable. I want all of them! That’s how I ended up with so many. I love them all.
Gee Dee-the story about Beau really got me. Made me relive the passing of some of my cats. I’ve lost 3 in the past 5 yrs, one was 21 yrs-due to old age, two others to cancer. Of course after that i had to go get twins-always wanted twin girls. Then had to get another just “because”. At least i can say i’m not one of those people that say i’ll never get another cat-you can never have enough !!
One is never enough! That’s for sure!
Wow, Chris–3 in 5 years. Very sad. It’s so nice that you opened your heart again and again and again! I had to put my (best pet I ever had–I hope my current three are not reading this) Juliet to sleep just after her 19th birthday last summer. I still miss her…
I love this story!
*Lost Parrot Shows Up Hundreds Of Miles From Home*
POSTED: 10:22 am PDT October 12, 2006
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — A woman’s pet parrot flew away from her in Johnson City and turned up hundreds of miles away in Long Island, N.Y., despite being a weak flyer.
Kim Kendrick lost her 47-year-old Amazon parrot Buzzy nearly two months ago while walking with him outside. But she got an unexpected phone call Tuesday from a New Yorker named Josh Ruderman, who said he had found Buzzy.
“When I heard he was in New York I was skeptical at first,” Kendrick said. “But then I talked with Buzzy on the phone and Josh sent me photos and it’s no doubt that it’s him.”
The bird didn’t fly to New York. Ruderman had been visiting East Tennessee for two months and found Buzzy in Johnson City four days after Kendrick lost him on Aug. 14.
Ruderman said he searched the papers during the last three weeks of his visit, but could not find Buzzy’s owner. So Ruderman took him home to Long Island.
Ruderman finally found Buzzy’s grateful owner after reading a Sept. 20 article in the Johnson City Press about the missing parrot and e-mailed her Tuesday.
“It really is nice when a story comes together with a happy ending, but for me I will miss Buzzy very much,” Ruderman said.
Kendrick said she planned to drive up from Tennessee to Long Island next week to pick up Buzzy.
Thank you so much for your kind and excited words. It’s been almost a year since Buzzy and I were seperated. Josh, in Long island, is still called Uncle Josh and we are good friens. With out well wishes and prayers this would never have been pssible. Buzzy and I are looking to move back westward, but not sure how to financially do that yet…but we’re togeter and greatful! Thanks again! Kim Kendrick
Here is a link to get a free 6 oz. bag of Purina Naturals. I got mine last week and 2 of my 3 cats loved it. The third (Atticus) is a little snot. haha
http://www.catchow.com/naturals/searchresults.aspx
Free samples are always great. I am getting a kitten tomorrow. I had a great big cat named Taz who ran away a few months back when I was at work. I am now torn between 3 incredible kittens. One is a polydatyl with 7 toes on the front paws, he is the sweetest kitty and loves to nibble your ears and sleep on your neck. The other is his brother but is a black and white domestic long hair and is the king of the mountain. He will grow up to be a big cat. The other is their sister a black and white domestic long hair and she just loves to be loved and held, sit her down and she will stare at you until you hold her again (or bite your toes, climb up your leg….etc.)
Any helpful ideas to help me choose. I wish I could take all 3…but only have room for one.
Suggestion: Which fur color best goes with your wardrobe? haha
I vote for kitty #1. You can name him Hemingway in honor of all of Ernest Hemingway’s polydactile cats! He sounds like a good one. I love cats that will wrap around your neck.
Casey–that is a difficult decision–which one seems to bond with you the most? If you get another pet in the future, which one do you think would handle it the best?

#1 seems to everyones favorite.
I bond with all of them. The last time I was at the shelter the polydatyl kitty hung out on my neck and in my hood the whole time. The others just played with my shoes and slept on my legs.
I think #1 it is. Thanks.
Aw, just look at all 4 sets of eyes, pleading:
“please don’t just take our picture - take us home so you can look at us EVERYDAY…please!”
I would have brought these little ones home with me had I found them - no doubt! I can see it now, I’m gonna be that old woman in the neighborhood with 30 - 50 cats.
Seriously, these 4 are too cute to pass up! I hope they getting all the love and attention they deserve.
