Sunni (left) and Lick (right) were from a litter of six females in late August 2001. They were found at the KFC dumpster on Labor Day that year. Sunni and two of her sisters live together with me. Lick and her other to sisters were adopted.

what sweeties and so lucky to find good homes. I work at a mall part time and a few years ago a friend of mine went to take trash out to the dumpster, she heard mewing coming from the dumpster and climbed in to rescue this kitten. If anyone has ever smelled a dumpster outside a food court, you will understand the meaning of vile. but she climbed in and was blessed with a beautiful little boy kitten. I really wanted her to anme him Stinky, but she called him Homer. now everytime I take out the trash, i listen and have thankfully heard no mewing, but I would have to do the same thing. could never understand why people would throw away a living thing instead of dropping it off to a shelter. but people like you and my friend inspire me to believe in the goodness of mankind.
Oh my gosh! how cute are these two fluffy scoundrels! As a long time viewer and first time comment-er i couldnt resist these two! My kitten Mu Mu (moo moo) is one year old now (i guess no longer a kitten).. she is all black and very naughty. We picked her up from a rescue home and i dont know what life would be like without her now! Much love to these two babies x
What beautiful kittens! And Sunni looks quite formidable–like she’s trying to make herself look bigger than she really is. I think I detect a scowl, as well! But, I love tough kitties—my Atticus is a tough kitty and I always say to him, “You think you’re so tough, but you’re fixed and can’t even go outside!” (Yes, I talk to my cats—I’m going to coast into crazy cat lady land.)

Dee, I always talked to my boys I thought it was because I lived alone. People talk to plants so why not our furr babies. Taffy would talk back to me and a different voice for birds and another for squrriels. He had a higher pitched voice and Domino all 22lbs of him sounded like Selma Diamond from “Night Court”.
Susan—that made me laugh out loud! I remember Selma’s raspy voice! It’s so interesting how different cats have different meows— My 15 pound solid black boy meows like a little girl kitten—such a sissy! And my tiny 6 pound girl meows like she smokes two packs of Camels a day….
I’ll be right beside you in crazy cat lady land! I talk to my three babies all the time. They are great listeners.
Dee — I not only talk to them…we have conversations. With 8 kitties I am already in the “Crazy Cat Lady” category….CONFIRMED. My almost 30 lb. Maine Coon Freddy just croaks at me, but I understant each little nuance of those croaks! (maybe he’s got a toxic toad in his throat)
If I didn’t talk to Ollie, how would I communicate with him? He knows what I mean - though he keeps trying to get me to talk cat-language!
Thank you for rescuing these kittens! I will never understand why a human being can do such a horrible thing as put a living creature in a dumpster or just dump them on the street.
I have one cat now and am looking to adopt another one much to my husband’s dismay. I don’t care, I am going to be the old lady with 5-10 cats. If it is crazy lady time..oh well at least I will enjoy being with my cats. I love cats.
It’s amazing how many kitties come from dumpsters. My Bogey was a dumpster kitty too. But he has a warm home now. I’m sure he’s lying in a patch of sunshine in my living room at this very moment.

Cute little kittykins! Sunni looks like she is displaying a little “catitude” there. Lick was ready for a tumble, too. Rowdy kittens. I love it when they play fight…and miss it so much with no kittens around. It’s funny when they are so young that they can barely stand on all fours, but wobble up to a litter mate and pounce (usually tipping over onto their noses!)

Fluffy loves! I’m so glad they found homes! It kills me when I see strays. There’s a calico by where I work, she won’t come to you but she doesn’t run away. I would set food for her but on a large campus like where I work you can’t be sure who you’re feeding, unless I carry kibble in my pocket!
I went to the Popeye’s Chicken in North Tulsa last week and there was a “teenage” kittlet there… I couldn’t get him to come to me, but while I was there one of the cooks took him (or her) out a whole catfish filet and he told me he was taking the baby home that night for his little girl. I gave him $5 to help with the first cat expenses, and a big kiss on the cheek. Us folk who rescue need love too. Thank you all!!

Talk about humble beginnings! Pamela Irish’s tabby twosome started life in a squirrel hole with their brothers and sisters and feral mom. “My veterinarian trapped them and then tried to adopt them out,” explains Pamela.
By the time there were two kittens left from the litter, she decided the time was right to make hers a two-feline home. “They were so close, so it only seemed right to bring them home together,” says Pamela.
Gracie and Gazoo are now five months old and living the life of luxury—that entails their own room and hand-fed shrimp at least twice weekly. “They light up my world every time I walk through the door,” says the proud new mom. “While I may have given them a home, they have given me eternal and unconditional love. Who owes whom?!”
Oh how wonderful! I have two boys that I adopted. (I could never own just one kitty, it would get lonely while I was at work and I would feel guilty!) They were so young when I found them their eyes were still blue! Now they are 18 months old and over 13 pounds each, not fat just big. They are my babies and even my husband knows he doesn’t get his dinner until after I feed the cats!
Such sweeties.. I’m so glad they were all taken in to good homes.

The primary concern in dogs is with gastrointestinal irritation, including vomiting and diarrhea. Typically, these effects are seen in dogs who have scavenged on significant quantities of fruit or branches. Birds and rodents appear to be particularly sensitive to avocado, and ingestion can result in respiratory distress, congestion, fluid accumulation around the heart and even death. Humans are built to metabilized toxins, that is why we can eat things like chocolate. Animals, especially dogs, are built to metabilize bacteria. That’s why they can drink out of puddles and not get disintary. So, in short-animals should never eat people food because the spices we put on them are toxic to our pets.

Q: How can I tell if my cat is depressed?
A: You live with your cat; you see her when she’s napping in the sun and chowing down dinner. That’s why you are the best judge of her moods. You can usually tell when your cat is unhappy. But here are some telltale signs that may indicate that your cat is down in the dumps:
Urine-marking, inappropriate urination or refusal to use litter box
Lack of personal grooming
Sluggishness
Sudden changes in mood, especially from friendly to aggressive
Excessive meowing and/or “hey, look at me” behavior, such as clawing the furniture
Q: What causes depression in cats?
A: The quick answer to this question is: lots of things. There’s no comprehensive list. However, a good rule of thumb is to consider your cat to be not so different than your child or your best friend or, for that matter, yourself. Sure, cats are animals, but animals have feelings, too. Here are some of the most common causes of feline depression:
A major disruption of schedule or routine
Major life changes, such as a death in the family or the addition of a new pet
Lack of activity and exercise, boredom, long hours of being alone
Separation anxiety
Sickness or undiagnosed health problems
Q: How can I help my cat feel better?
A: If your cat shows signs of depression, your first line of defense should be to take her to a veterinarian for a checkup. Once you’ve ruled out physiological explanations for her depression, then you can develop a plan to take care of the problem at home. Here are some suggestions to get you started:
Be happy around your cat. You may be surprised to discover that your cat takes her cues from your behavior.
Make a concerted effort to spend more time with your cat. Even if it’s just 15 minutes more a day, it could make all the difference.
When you get home from work or from grocery shopping, say hello to your cat and rub her ears the minute you walk in the door. Get in the habit of making her feel special.
New toys can sometimes cheer a bored or lonely cat. Rotate them frequently so there’s always something new.
In some ways, cats aren’t so different than humans. A delicious meal makes us all feel good.

He was recently adopted while recovering from a broken leg and a severed tail.
