ppearson—how is your back today? I always used to think that when people threw their back out that they were exaggerating their pain and discomfort—until it happened to me for the first time about 6 months ago! It took me 10 minutes to get out of bed or get out of a chair—I empathize with your pain.
Thanks for asking much better. Fortunately what happened was that I pulled a muscle so a couple of days on anti inflammatories and alternating heat and Ice and I should be back to full speed.

I think she is saying that now that she is warm from the sun, she wouldn’t mind a smoothie and possibly a little bite of bacon. Maybe a shrimp cocktail to start.

haha—I completely understand! I had to watch A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving last night! I love that “Little Birdy” song.
Petey doesn’t hav as much white around his face. Miss Kitty looks so sweet.
Did you get the standard reply from his office a form letter? All he was concerned about whether I was in his state if I was I suppose I would of gotten a personal email. Since I am not he figures why bother I cannot vote for him but we can ALL spread the word to our senators on where we stand on the issue.
I mad the mistake of aknowledging that I am not from Sensenbrenner’s state so I didn’t even get the form letter!!!!! Just the electronic round file, I guess. What do you expect from a jerk that doesn’t support legislation to protect animals.
I did tell him that he didn’t run this time but with all of our help he won’t win the next time he runs. I didn’t want to sound threatening as I didn’t want Secret Service agents showing up at my door.
Aww how sweet! I’m glad they are being cared for. Too often people think that because they wouldn’t be able to carry on with such a set back, the dog won’t either. In fact I have seen dogs with out limbs, sight or hearing do very well-they just cope. We could learn a bunch from them. They don’t sit around feeling sorry for themselves, they learn to deal and get on with what they do best-love!
Did you see the dog on Oprah (a while back) that had a congential deformity and could only use her hind legs? She learned to walk on 2 feet. It’s really something to see.
Earlier this month, Chinese officials began cracking down on pet owners in Beijing, the nation’s capital. Any unregistered animal, any dog over 14 inches tall, or any pet from a household with more than one dog can be taken from their family by police and held in a facility, awaiting an uncertain future.
Please ask the United States Secretary of Commerce, Carlos Gutierrez, to use his position to work with officials in China and stop these appalling and indiscriminate roundups.
I know—it’s appalling. Everyone is hoping that with the upcoming Olympics, that China may not want to be seen in such a negative light….

Ha! They just restrict where people can go. Or they round up anything that may be “counter-productive” to the image the government would like to present. God help you if you get arrested, they kill prisoners to sell their organs on the black market. Do you really think they care about a few presious animals?
come on, people, stop being maladramatic and remember there is always the other side of the story.
The rule that dictates a dog should not be taller than 14 inches applies ONLY to the super over-populated area of the city, where there are thanksgiving crowd in the street every single day and where people live in tiny apartment. Now, I have to agree that a 2 bedroom apartment in a highrise building with a tiny living room and small kitchen and barely there bathroom which houses a family of 3 to 6 people is a suitable place for a big dog like husky or golden retriever, or in fact, any kind of dog other than those small lap dogs. If one lives in suburban area, no problems there, no matter what the dog fancy may be.
And Registered dogs are not bothered.
I am ashamed to admit this, for I am an original and authentic Beijinger, but people there are not as considerate as they should be. They do not put leash on their dogs, and they do not clean up after them. I believe u guys can imagine how much annoyance that can cause. More seriously, there was this incidence where two german sheperd had the neighor’s baby for snacks. Well of course it is not the dogs’ fault, but still, even here in the states, these kind of dogs were put down.
I AM appalled about what is happening, but still, regulations should be in place for a better environment for both the dogs and the people.

Absolutly! We don’t licences our dogs either, though we all know they should be, and we also gather up those animals to be “taken care of” so what’s the difference? In San Antonio we distroy thousands of animals every year because people won’t spay/neuter their pets! So there was a big protest to the amount of animals being put down and the city tried being a no kill shelter. What happened? It was filled up in no time, the animals weren’t being adopted out fast enough and so they stoped accepting animals. So where are those animals? Back on the streets. No win.

Top 8 Ways to Have a Cat-Safe Thanksgiving
From Franny Syufy,
Your Guide to Cats.
Colder weather and the fall and winter holidays, such as Thanksgiving, pose unique problems for cats. You’re obviously thankful for the companionship of your cats. Now you can learn how to keep your cats safe at the time of Thanksgiving with these tips.
1) Keep Cats Indoors
Cats will seek the warmth of an engine if left outdoors during cold weather, and unspeakable things can happen to them should an unwary motorist start up the car with a cat under the hood. Ideally, cats should be kept indoors year-round, but especially so during the colder months.
2) Make the Garage Off-Limits to Cats
Anti-freeze is both attractive and deadly to cats. Anti-freeze and caustic chemicals stored in the garage spell certain disaster if a cat comes in contact with them. Although it may seem like an attractive idea to keep a normally indoor-outdoor cat in the garage over the winter, please keep them in the house. Cats, like children, are family and they deserve to be with the rest of the family.
3) Don’t Light Those Table-Top Candles
If you must decorate with candles, keep them unlit unless cats are securely locked in a bedroom. A cornucopia or attractive bowl or basket filled with fruit makes a beautiful table decoration. If you like the effect of lights, there are some very attractive LED candles on the market now - less messy and just as cheerful as real flames.
4) Feed Cats Their own Thanksgiving Meal First
Traditional Thanksgiving dinners are often loaded with ingredients that can make cats very ill, such as onion-laced stuffing and gravy, vegetables with rich sauces, and that butter-basted turkey itself. Allow kitty to join in the celebration with a thin sliver or two of turkey breast or giblet. Better yet, prepare his own Turkey Delight meal ahead of time, along with a teaspoon or two of plain canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix) for “dessert.”
5) Take Time out to Love Your Cat
Cats may feel neglected when a crowd of visitors consume your time. Try to set aside 15 minutes to spend some quiet time with your cat an hour or so before guests are due to arrive. Ask Aunt Mabel to stir the gravy while you give kitty more lovies just before dinner. You’ll both be more relaxed, and you can enjoy your friends and family without guilt.
6) Think “Safe Room”
While some cats thoroughly enjoy visitors, many cats do not. It may be better to confine those cats to their “safe room” for the duration. It should be similar to the safe room you’d provide for a new cat. At least, be sure to provide litter box, fresh water, and “play-alone” toys so they feel comforted rather than ignored.
7) Consider Natural Remedies for Highly-Strung Cats
An overly-nervous cat may be substantially helped by the use of natural remedies, such as flower essences, herbal remedies, or other holistic aids for stress. I’d suggest starting them a day or two prior to the holiday, as some of these remedies take longer to become effective.
Remember Your Cats in Your Thanks
My family has had a tradition for several years of giving thanks for the cats who have given us so much in terms of companionship, endless entertainment, and unconditional love. I wouldn’t have traded a single one of them for all the riches in the world.
I have come to the conclusion that kitties are solar-powered. They need all the sunshine they can get to be able to run around and get into kitty mischeif.
Everyone remember to watch the Purina National Dog Show on Thanksgiving Day! It has become as much of a tradition in my home as the dinner itself….(plus I have a crush on John O’Hurley) http://events.purina.com/dogs/shows/national.aspx

I found this at another site—thought it was funny!
The Thanksgiving Turkey Fiasco
Several Thanksgivings ago I had not thought to defrost a rather large frozen turkey purchased for the occasion ahead of time, so was forced to place it in water, in the stainless steel kitchen sink, to defrost overnight on Thanksgiving Eve.
On arising about 5:00AM, I staggered into kitchen and found that Blind Terrorist Rowdy - by far the largest and strongest of our cats - had dragged said turkey up, out of sink, over counter, and then down to floor aided by his sneaky cohorts the Evil Three Others. They were all enjoying an early cat Thanksgiving of raw turkey entree on the kitchen floor!
Oliver was *inside* the carcass, eating his way out of where you’d put the stuffing (Oliver is the smallest). The others had gnawed off wings, legs, and *NO ONE* looked the slightest bit guilty. I could not punish them, but I know to this day Rowdy is the only one strong enough to pull a 20# turkey UP and OUT of a deep sink full of water alone. The cavity was crowded with both Oliver and the giblets package in the stuffing cavity.
Luckily in our area, supermarkets are open at 7:00AM on holidays for the most part, so off I went to buy a ham, which tasted just as good as a turkey would have. Or so we said. The cats, however, were absolutely bulging, and happy to have had an ill-gotten holiday treat.
Moral of true tale: don’t tempt cats with forbidden feasts after cover of dark or when their hoomins turn their backs: whichever happens first!
I have just had a Pepsi-keyboard event! That was hilarious… I can so totally see the fluffbutt population in this house doing something similar…heck, I don’t even need a turkey to get them started–a box of Krispy Kremes does the same thing, as I found to my dismay yesterday…fortunately I’m not above eating a donut with a little cat-spit on it….I am not proud.
That story reminded me of a story David Letterman still tells: About 15 years ago, he had two German Shepards that he spoke about on his show all the time. One Thanksgiving, he was defrosting the turkey on the kitchen counter (we now know that is a great way to get food poisoning!). He went out for a couple hours, and when he returned there was not a TRACE of the turkey—no bones, no wrapper—nothing! I always crack up at that story…
That story reminds me of the one where my Aunt and Uncle had everyone over for dinner. The turkey had been partially carved and was sitting on the kitchen table ready to be served. Everyone was out in the living room awaiting a nice dinner. Well, the family cat named Fuzzy decided that she was going to take a nice nap next to that delious smelling turkey. My aunt found her wrapped around the carcass. Luckily no one else saw so she washed off the turkey and put it out for the dinner. The turkey tasted fine and no one knew till years later. Now it is a story that is told around this time of year. That kitty is so cute..looking upward as to say there is someone looking at me. Very cute. I think you all would love the picture of my Sylvester who is a Tuxedo at 3 months. He looks adorable. I keep submitting him hoping he will get the limeline one of these days. I am sure there are literally hundreds of pictures submitted each day. Have a good day all.
***Onions, Garlic, Chives***
Did You Know… Onions, garlic, chives and other species of the plant genus Allium can be potentially toxic to pets?
Allium species contain sulfur compounds known as disulfildes, which if ingested in large quantities can cause gastrointestinal irritation and could even result in damage to red blood cells. While cats are more sensitive to disulfides, dogs and other species of animals are also susceptible to Allium poisoning if enough plant material is consumed. Therefore, the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center advises companion animal owners to avoid feeding pets onions, garlic and other Allium plants.
***Poinsettias***
Did you know that Poinsettias are not the deadly flowers that popular legend has made them out to be?
Poinsettias (Euphorbia pulcherrima) are part of a family of plants known as spurges. During the 1820s Joel Robert Poinsett, the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico at the time, first brought poinsettias to the U.S. from a Mexican city he had visited. It was during the early part of the 20th century that the myth of the plant’s toxicity began when the two-year-old child of a U.S. Army officer was alleged to have become ill and died from consuming a poinsettia leaf.
As a result of this rumor, the toxic potential of poinsettia has become highly exaggerated. In reality, poinsettia ingestions typically produce only mild to moderate gastrointestinal tract irritation, which may include drooling, vomiting and/or diarrhea. Therefore, while keeping this plant out of the reach of your pet to avoid stomach upset is still a good idea, pet owners need not fear the poinsettia and banish it from their homes for fear of a fatal exposure.
Hi Dee! How are you? Did you also know that Mistletoe is poisonous to cats. I heard that when I was a kid and I always kept it away from my Siamese during the holidays. Miss Kitty is so precious. Reminds me of my PJ.
thanks Dee, my step-mom has one of these and i keep forgeting to ask her about it when i visit
i love that sweet face, she looks like she is saying ‘I love you’
So folks the 8 kittens are of age now and boy are they rekking havic on my home office :0 I have to put everything up, its like having 8 toddlers…………..last week they murdered two computer mice, i have since gone wireless lol……………..they crack me up doing thier little prancing around, and Erwin gets in my lap and goes to sleep its the greatest thing……..Josephine despite her disability, is doing fantastic, tiny and fiesty playing with the bigger kittens….all is well only they need forever homes !!!
Brandi Lee, are these the bengal kittens? Forgive me, I remember someone saying that they bred them and I don’t remember who. I have been desperately looking for breeders in my area that don’t charge a mortgage payment for these little beauties. If so, I am very interested….my email is jbosorio0217@yahoo.com
just one thing, yes that is a VERY cute little kitten, but WHY is everyone obsessed with the word “fuzz”? its in almost all the comments on this site!!!
Well, most of us don’t just “like” cats, we adore cats and fuzz is synonymous with cat and is a term of endearment
Miss Kitty is a totally adorable fuzzbutt with gorgeous green eyes!
Everyone’s posts turning bold happens when someone opens a bold tag and forgets to close it. I’ve closed it at the beginning of my post, so hopefully this will appear normally. Looks like Elaine in Dallas’ post is the one that wants editing.
We have a Miss Kitty that looks very similar to this one! She enjoys snooping about outside (she is one of a few outdoor kitties we have) but lovable when she wants to be!!
Heavenward fuzz! She’s a pretty girl.

I share my vanilla ice cream with mine. I get one side they get the other. My husband just shakes his head, but he’s not above sharing with the dog!
Fun in the sun FUZZ

I noticed this too. I just caulked it up to a TDK thing!
Well, most of us don’t just “like” cats, we adore cats and fuzz is synonymous with cat and is a term of endearment
Miss Kitty is a totally adorable fuzzbutt with gorgeous green eyes!
she looks just darling!! A real Miss Kitty!!
It would be hard to look at Miss Kitty’s face without smiling. I’d love to kiss this sweet baby.
What a sweet little face! She’s adorable!
BTW, can someone remind me what “FB’s” stand for again? Thanks
Hello Miss Kitty - nice to meet ya! Come visit us sometime!
Miss Kitty has such a sweet face! She is adorable!
Miss Kitty, what a darling kitten you are and posing so pretty.
“FB’s” stand for facial bosoms aka whisker pouches.
Love this little cutie! What a Princess!
Everyone’s posts turning bold happens when someone opens a bold tag and forgets to close it. I’ve closed it at the beginning of my post, so hopefully this will appear normally. Looks like Elaine in Dallas’ post is the one that wants editing.
Ok, where is my treat?
Sigh….Middle of the day and no new kitten. At least Miss Kitty gives me a smile everytime I look at her!
