One-Eyed Fiona

One-Eyed FionaThis adorable kitten rescued my friend, Dawn, from a restaurant parking lot just a couple of weeks ago. Seems she was the last of an abandoned litter, but the restaurant employees couldn’t find a home for her (maybe because of the bad eye). She ran across the parking lot and literally jumped into Dawn’s arms. Dawn couldn’t leave her there, so she took her home. (The idea was to get her to a vet and then to find her a good home.) The vet couldn’t save her eye, and Dawn couldn’t give her up, so now she’s found her new home. She’s happy, playful, and the lack of an eye doesn’t slow her down one bit. Her name is Fiona, which comes from a Lyle Lovett song entitled, “My One-Eyed Fiona”. She hit the lottery the day she saw Dawn walk out of that restaurant.

Little Fiona knew Dawn was the one she was looking for. Thank Dawn and the vet for saving this sweet little sugar muffin. One-Eyed Fiona is a very beautiful kitten. Love her dark grey and white markings and her captivating amber eye. Oooh kiss kiss. She certainly has command of the situation! Many blessing to you and your friends.
Happy Friday all!!

Yes… captivating. That one eye says more just by looking at you than if she were able to speak a volume of words. She’s gorgeous and Dawn is an angel for allowing herself to be rescued by Fiona.

What a cute kitten!! It just breaks my heart to hear of all of the abandoned animals. Myself, I have found 3 kittens over the years. And, just so you know I have 4 cats of my own already. The first was in upstate NY( I found a great home for her). The second was in Phoenix while on a business trip in a tree sreeching it’s head off(I raised such a commotion after getting it down that my instructor took the kitten home to his neighbor who loves cats that evening). The third I kept as one of my cat’s had passed away 2 years earlier from Cancer. His name is Woody as I found him in a “Woodpile” outside my front gate at 12:30 in the morning 3 days after all the Hurricanes here in Fl. in 2004. Ironically, the next day the town came to clear the debris and he would have been crushed. He is 2 years old now and my 21 year old Balinese grooms him. Please, we have got to find a way to get people to spay/neuter their pets and stop the heartbreaking stories that go unsaid!!

Very cute, so much expression with just the one eye! Thank you to everyone who takes in lost kitties, I got mine from an animal shelter the day before they were going to put him down (sadly I couldn’t take all the kitties home!)

I’m with Meredith on her comments… 100%

But on a happier note - I LURVE this kitten…. I hope she darkens up like my grey/white rescue kitten did… it was so awesome to watch him go from grey/white to a fully-dressed black/white tuxedo cat. All his records are ‘wrong’ because they say he’s grey/white and he always looks like the gentleman he is.

YAY FIONA, YAY DAWN, YAY FRIEND WHO SUBMITTED THE POST! As long as there are good people in the world, we’ll keep chugging away at helping the helpless - it’s a long fight, but it’s worth it!

I believe in the Law of Karmic Return. Similar to the what goes around comes around theory. Whoever hurts an animal or human will pay for it either in this life or the next. If a person blinds someone/something, he/she will have sight problems later in this life or all throughout the next. You are earning Karmic points for saving the poor cat.

The best kitty I ever had was a stray baby that came to me with an eye problem, which resulted in its removal. She never was handicapped in any way, she could play and run and stalk with the best of them. I lost her after just 2 years due to the fact that she had feline leukemia, unbeknownst to me. I learned that her original eye problem was due to the leukemia. I was so ignorant back then. I hope your friend Dawn has gotten this sweetie baby tested, and I hope that Fiona is clear and has a long, happy life!

Thank you Dawn for taking Fiona.
I’m so glad to see that many people in the States save cats from streets and shelters.
People here in Japan usually just go to pet shops to get animals(very expensive: about $1,000-2000 for a cat/dog), but my husband and I don’t quite get the idea.
We found a cat at the beach last year, and now she, Minty, our sweetest angel is staying with us.
Bless rescued cats and their sweet owners in the States!

When I was about 7, one of our cats climbed up to a 3rd floor window with her eye falling out. The vet couldn’t put it back, so she lost it. But that never slowed her down. She caught many mice and lived many happy years. And she kept the other cats in their places.

My husband ALSO brought home a one-eyed kitten. The kitten darted out in front of his car. When he stopped to see what that was, this cute little cat came out to say hi. Only thing though, his left eye was crusty and enlarged! Gross! The vet took it out right away and since it ran him $400 to remove it, he decided to keep him and boy was it worth it!

His name is Sammy Davis Jr, Jr-but we call him Oody! He’s a black and white fluffy tuxedo, so you can’t even tell he’s missing an eye. We just say he’s winking!
