This is a basket full of Madeline’s precious babies. We found Madeline stuck under a neighbor’s porch. She was a stray momma kitty who stole our hearts. After being rescued by us, she gave birth to seven beautiful healthy babies (one kitten is taking a snack break here). Madeline and four of her kittens still live with us, while the three other babies have found wonderful forever homes with some of our friends. We got the whole crew back together in April 2006 to celebrate the kittens’ one year birthday.

Can I have them ALL? What beautiful babies. This website brings a smile to my face everyday!
It made me smile and I was just looking at each of them kittens
wanting to hold all of them & cuddle them too!!!!!
They are beautiful babies.
Me too! Want, want, want!!!
That is one of the cutest baskets ever! Six little angles, all wanting to be loved. I could cuddle all of them at once.
i want the two torties, how beautiful!
What beautiful kitties…I’m so happy that there are caring people in this world who adopt strays and treat them with love and kindness.
adorable collection of kittehs:)
A tisket, a tasket, a yellow wicker basket–of FUZZ!
The one at the 11:00 position reminds me of my Callie (half orange face, half black; I also see gray tabby belly spots like my Lucy)
These kittens are so awesome. I love their little white bellys.
Basket of beautiful blue eyed bundles of fluff and love. This pic is wonderful and so is their story. Bless you and your friends for taking in mom and caring for her little ones. It’s awsome that you were able to bring them back together for their first Bday. Maybe you have started a tradition. Ditto on Tarah’s comment. Thanks for sharing.
Have a great day TDKers.
Teresa, can you please tell me where LO is? I will be doing a survey about where we are all from.
Hey Chester-LO is Los Osos, CA.
W O W !!!!!!! Talk about a basket of fun!!! Bless you and your kind heart for taking care of mommy kitty and crew
Here I am kitten hunting and you had to go post this adorable pic and not add, “Oh, and by the way, these kittens are currently located within 2 blocks of the home of Lisa in Ann Arbor, so come take your pick!” I just wanna bury my face in the purrs and all of that tickly fuzz and the wet tongues that lick and try to nurse your ears… LOL! What a great, great photo!:)
Hey, I’m in Ann Arbor, too!
My kittens are all the grown-up type now, though.
Without a doubt, this IS a basket full of love. Ain’t GOD grrreat!
(SonOfAGun, I have relatives in Ann Arbor, too.)
Y’all take care, and don’t forget to clean your paws!
OMG - they are soooo cute - a basket full of furrrrrr balls!!!!
How gorgeous! Did they still like each other at a year old?
All in the Family FUZZ
Oh Kittens!! What a basket of darling angels! What fun!
That is just too much cuteness all in one place!
That much cute in one basket…it should probably be registered as a Deadly Weapon of Adorableness!!!
My roomie now refers to my forays onto TDK as “shopping”. I think he knows me a weeeeee bit too well.
That is so sweet! And what a wonderful story. They are all beautiful bundles of joy.
They look so happy
Oh my goodness! What a great story - and how heart warming that you fell in love with mamma and then with the kittens… I can’t imagine how wonderful their lives must be… for a mamma cat to live with four of her kittens and such loving 2-legged cat friends to take care of them.
What a great story on a dreary December day!
What precious little kitties. I want one!
A basketful of Purry Furry LOVE! Each one is just adorable! Bless you for ensuring that Mom and babies would be lovingly cared for! You’ve brightened my day!
Basket full of trouble!!! But so cute…
Basket of torties and tabbies! They’re all so sweet.
I’m glad ma ma and her babies are all well and happy!
The story is wonderful. It always feel good to know there are people out there like you who are willing to open up your homes to kitties in need. Not to mention 5! I’m also glad to hear you are friends with the other kittens’ owners and they keep in touch. Too cute!
That is a wonderful happy outcome–that you kept the mother and more than half of her babies, and that the whole family and extended family is in contact! Everyone gets to enjoy all the kittens from time to time, as they continue to develop their personalities and triumph in their little cat-worlds.
That is just about the cutest picture of multiple little innocent treasures I have ever seen! Makes me want to kiss them all, and stroke those silken smooth little paw pads! Love them always!
Briar—you are way more gentle than I am. I have to SQUISH those little paw pads. At times I’m almost afraid to handle tiny kittens like these–I think I’m too much like Lennie from Of Mice And Men!
Cuddly little oodles of noodles. They are so cute! I want to kiss their little bellies and keep them all!
Oh my gosh!! those are SOOOOOOOO cute!!! I just want to give them hugs and kisses!!! This story warms my heart!!
Bless you for your kindness in taking in the Mama. She rewarded you well! They kittys are adorable! Glad that you kept the siblings in touch with each other. Much luck and praise to you and your extended family.
Ow…the cuteness just caused 6 new cavities. Love it!
Some stories are just perfect.
“I love it when a plan comes together.”
~*S Club 7 Fuzz*~

Aww…baby kitties are the best
Funny I kept counting only five, I missed the black one-ninja kitty!
Yeh, I had to count their eyes to see them all!!! Just so cute.
this is CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is so cute
Phyllis. I found a kitten a day site on yahoo.
What a basket filled with joy! This picture is adorable and I love how all the kittens are laying strategically!
A tisket a tasket a basket full of kittens! Can anyone tell me the name of the kitty litter that attracts cats? Also, I have a pair of sibling kittens that are @ 4 months old. They are my son’s college kittens. They are going to be spayed and neutered tommorrow morning. My question is this: Is there anything I can put on a Christmas tree to repel the kittens? They are wild and crazy! I know that Charlie will climb the tree and it will be total mayhem with the ornaments and his sister Lucy will not be far behind him. Any advice would be appreciated. BTW: I am in Tupelo, MS and the weather is falling into the single digits tonight!
We had the same problem last year. Nothing would stop Sammy from climbing the tree, so settled on using no glass ornaments and filling the tree with little stuffed animals from around the house, (of which there are many). This year he climbed it until the ornaments went on. Now he just ’swims’ through the Xmas tree skirt. Hopefully I get presents under there soon to stop that action.
Good Luck, and Merry Xmas!
Tinafish, I don’t know of anything that would repel the cats from your tree but you could anchor it to the wall. We used to have to anchor our tree because when my siamese was little, she would run through the house 90 mph and hit the tree. I think she nearly knocked it over once. My dad took some twine and wrapped it around the inside of the tree and tacked it to the wall. She eventually outgrew doing that.
What about double sided sticky tape at the bottom of the tree? Our kittens just like to lay under the tree amongst the presents and be the gifts that they are!
You can stop cats from climbing a tree? I’ve given up on that.
My 4 fuzzies stopped climbing when we switched to an artificial tree. As it stands now, they all take turns sleeping under it, and only one (Abby) takes the balls off and runs them through the house! We had to switch to plastic ornaments to keep everyone safe.
The basket full of baby fuzzes it a too cute overload! I love them and want them all!!!!!
Hi Tina,
Petsmart sells some stuff in a can called “Kitty No!”, you can spray it on whatever. It has an unpleasant odor to cats but humans can’t smell it.
I gave up getting my girls to not climb the tree. I simply used the type of self-locking hooks that keep the ornaments firmly on the tree, fastened the lights to the branches, hid the ends of the garland.
As for the stand — CVS and Target sell an absolutely wonderful stand with eight screws, two on a side, instead of three or four. The whole thing is about two feet wide and eight or nine inches deep, but it is a solid and sturdy stand. I had two kittens climbing in my tree after I set it up, and that tree did not BUDGE.
Get a dense tree with a straight trunk and run it a little dry — the sharp discourages a climber.
About the cat litter- there’s a litter additive called “Cat Attract,” that I’ve heard good things about. I think you may just add it to whatever litter you have, or use it as litter on it’s own. Supposedly it works well though…
These are my beautiful grand-kittens featured up above. I am so excited that their picture made it in! All the babies and momma are doing wonderful. They truly have brought so much joy to our lives. It’s great to know that there are others out there with soft hearts for the furry and four-legged!
They are absolutely gorgeous and are lucky to have you and your family. It was fun trying to see which head went to which little body. The torties were easy, the tabbies, not so much!
Oh, look at how healthy and alert they are! So squishable! Isn’t that an unusually large litter? Some of you experts and breeders out there could tell me more about that….
That is a large litter! When I bred Maine Coons I had litters any where from 2 to 8 kittens.
I guess this mom “got around” , eh?? haha
and no doubt “got round” VERY round, too…he-he
Momma kitty got huge! Some days she would be bigger on one side than the other. :0) I used to breed and show Birmans, which have small litters (2-4). So I couldn’t believe it when so many kittens came out of her. In fact, we thought she was done at 6, but a morning count confirmed 7! She snuck one more in on us overnight.
It seems with each litter the number of kittens gets larger. At least that’s what I’ve seen working in the vet tech field. Or is that one of those urban myths?
I’m sure anyone in the Southwest who goes to Jamba Juice has heard about this, but here is a list of the stores just in case….

EVERYONE MUST READ THIS!! What an amazing and beautiful story!!

Wow what a great story.
Just found great video about the Wolf Dog!
http://www.wbir.com/news/archive.aspx?storyid=40172
What a fat dog!! Wolf/dog… whatever, fat. She’s getting her fair share now huh?
You are right, everyone should read that. What a great story. It is amazing how animals know things.
Renee—I kept forgetting to post the recipe for Spanish Bean Soup that you had asked about. Here is is, finally….SO good…
http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,1748,153173-245199,00.html
Thanks Dee! I will check it out. Your weather is alot better than ours, today. It is 34 and sunny but the nite time temps got down to the 20’s, supposed to be 16 tonite! Warm up to 44 tomorrow.BBRR! That is just a bit cold for me.
Dee, what is Vigo flavoring? I have never seen anything like it here or spanish sausage. I guess I could substitute regular sausage. The recipe sounded good, I especially like ham. I just baked one last week. There were some yummy sounding recipes on the site you sent me to. I love peanut brittle and I like monkey bread. Now, to just have the time to cook all of this stuff!
Spanish sausage is also called “chorizo sausage”—if your markets have a spanish/mexican food aisle, you’ll find it there. I prefer the dried chorizo—it’s kind of like beef jerky. And you can find the Vigo seasoning there, also. It comes in little packets. “Goya” makes similar seasonings. I guess I keep forgetting that lots of areas in the country do not have these products easily available. There is a huge hispanic population in Tampa, and all the markets have these products. But, if you can’t find anything—here is a great website (you just knew I had one up my sleeve, eh?):
http://store.cubanfoodguy.com/default.php?cPath=29
Dee, I have seen “Goya” seasonings here and we also have a large population of hispanics here too. Ft. Smith is the biggest city near me. Thanks.
If you can’t find chorizo. you can substitute hot Italian sausage. Dee’s right about the Vigo, you can find it in the inernational isle in the grocery store. Just look where the have the spanish or Latin American foods.
You’re wonderfully brave for trying new things. Good for you! Have a wonderfyl time!
The temperature in Tampa will be “dipping” to 44 degrees this evening with a high of 59 degrees tomorrow and everyone is talking as if this is freezing cold weather. Having grown up in Michigan, I still get a kick out of this talk–especially from the weathercasters…
AWW! Such a basket full of sweetness. I didn’t see the black one at first but I did notice the eyes! So cute and such perky little faces. So glad you took the momma in and cared for her and her family. I have done the same before, also. Who could resist!

Hi Dee, I looked at these kittens 5 hours ago promptly passed. So here I am…Just kidding but it could be the truth! Had a busy day today but it’s so touching you missed me! Awww
Lovely story, lucky little Madeline. Breaks my heart knowing there are so many kitties out there who are not so lucky. If only people would neuter their pets..
Totally adorable babies..love them all.

**How Do I Cure My Cat’s Dry Skin?**
Find out different causes and solutions for dry skin in cats.
Q: My cat has really dry skin and sometimes he pulls his hair out. Is there anything I can do to help his dry skin? I already give him food that is specially formulated for sensitive skin and use a humidifier but neither seem to help much.
A: Good nutrition is important for cats to maintain a healthy, shiny coat. I would feed only a high-quality, name brand food and not a store brand or generic food.
Cats with dry skin might respond to an omega-3 fatty acid supplement added to their diet. Talk to your veterinarian about this. I’ve had excellent success in many cases using these supplements.
Bathing your cat too frequently can be a cause of dry skin, so only bathe your cat when it’s truly necessary (i.e. if the hair coat is soiled with grease or dirt, etc.). If you do bathe your cat, use a conditioning rinse. The conditioner should be one specifically designed for cats and not for people. In addition, comb your cat often to remove loose hair and dandruff flakes.
While it is likely that what you describe is just dry skin, if your cat is itchy as well, (you didn’t indicate in your letter whether he is) the dry skin might be a manifestation of an itchy skin disorder, such as allergies, parasites or a skin infection. Have your veterinarian examine your cat and make sure that it is just a case of dry skin.

**The Meaning of Rescue**
Author Unknown
Now that I’m home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed,
I’d like to open my baggage,
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry,
So much to regret.
Hmm. . .Yes, there it is, right on the top,
Let’s unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my perch hide Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave,
I still have to upack my baggage called Pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn’t good enough - for they didn’t want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things,
And take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
I pray that you do - I’m so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage,
Will you still want me?
Dee these stories, poems etc of yours should come with a supply of
tissue..
Reaching for the tissues now. That is such a cute poem. Thanks for sharing it.
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, HOW SWEET IS THAT!! LOVE THEM ALL
CATRANCHER: This one is for you! It cracked me up…

Okay, what?
I’m constantly amazed by people’s perversions….do you remember hearing about the “shoe bandit” who would knock ladies down on the city streets, steal their shoes and run off? When the police caught him he had quite a collection… weirdo alert!
ADORABLE picture, and how wonderful to hear all the kittens have great homes and are lucky enough to keep in touch with the rest of the family! I bet the mama and 4 babies with you are extra cuddly and sweet and appreciate staying together.
The basket full of kitties is so cute! Dee, you were right - “The Meaning of Rescue” brought tears to my eyes.
Woa!!! those kittens are sooooooo CUTE!!!!
I was find it astounding as to how cats/kittens can lay like they do and still get up and move like their tails are on fire!!! If I were to lay like some of these I would never be able to sit up or walk again!!! Oh how nice it must be to be a kitten, especially with soooo many others to keep each other warm, to be able to wake up with and play with!
Over the years I have found that not only am I my cats’ favorite toy but I am also their favorite furniture. Which beats what my hubby is-their favorite highway to get to their favorite furniture.
I your one of them kittens they are so cute.I wish I have one all ready how is 15 years young.
Oh my, your picture and story brought back memories for me!! We found a litter a few years ago and I still have 4 of them living with me. We found homes for the other 2, and now we have Miss Midnight with her litter in our neighborhood. The kittens were born around Halloween and I can’t find them yet. I just put food out for Midnight every day with some ground vitamins so she and her kittens stay healthy. I hope to find them before the winter gets really cold!
I am sure that Midnight appreciates the food! I hope that you can find them soon. Just keep following that kitty.
Have a nice weekend everyone, in case I don’t catch anyone tomorrow afternoon. I may not be on here, until late tomorrow. I have some errands to run. See ya Monday, Dee.
I’m off tomorrow as well. Two good friends are coming into town for girl time and Christmas shopping. Its getting bitter cold here tonight so in the morning I will have kitties that will be glad we don’t have to get out of bed! Poor Hubby still has to brave the cold and go to work though! Happy early weekend everyone!
I just want to dive into the middle of them and cuddle up!
