Sugar

SugarSugar is eight weeks old here and was adopted from the SPCA. He’s a loving, incredibly energetic and grateful little being who’s being cared for by his new Mommie, and his initially reluctant, but now accepting, older brother, Pooh Kitty. Sugar could not be more loved. http://sugarbabykitty.blogspot.com.

Hi Meegle! Are you the one that has a finicky cat? My cats sometimes cover their food too, only after they’ve had their fill. Makes me think they are trying to save it for later. I have a 1 yr. old who is picky also. She used to eat canned food some as a kitten but had to change flavors every few days. Now, she will only eat dry food, no treats and hardly any canned food. I don’t know if this will help but I have an address to a site where you can make homemade cat treats. You can check it out, if you want. Some of the recipes look good enough to eat for ourselves! Scroll down to the lower part of the page and it will have some more recipes. I found one for” Turkey Delight “and “Almost Spot’s Stew”. Good luck.

OMG, I’m not alone, then! I make up special songs for my kitties all the time. I’d love to hear your lyrics — c’mon, don’t be embarrassed, LOL! Here’s one of my less embarrassing ones — it was for my last cat, Chumley, who recently went to the Rainbow Bridge. He was taken in as a stray out of the snow, and he knew how lucky he was, he always appreciated what we did for him:

Chum-chummely,
Chum-chummely,
Chum-chum-cheree,
This cat is as lucky, as lucky can be;
Chum-chummely,
Chum-chummely,
Chum-chum-cheroo,
Good luck will rub off when he biscuits on you,
Or feed him some food,
And that’s lucky tooooooooooo.

:D

This was back when i first adopted Scratch and we lived in a studio with a loft. Every night she would climb the ladder with her “baby” which was a stuffed raccoon. And when i came home from work i would find that she brought it downstairs.

Here comes my kitty
i call her Scratcher
She likes to lick me
and climb the ladder
She always wakes me
Up in the mornin’
Is she trying to tell me
that I am snoring?

Tger’s changes lyrics all the time. when we were having litterbox problems it went like this

Tiger baby
just use the litterbox to pee
for me
You’re an awfully good boy
Tiger baby
and snuggle on the sofa tonight

Guys, this stuff is priceless. I really am going to have to figure out a way to have a website exclusively for kitty songs and also music that kitties love. Don’t laugh, but my ginger cat Chumley *loved* acoustic guitar. We have a Christmas CD that we call “Chumley’s CD.” He also adored classical harp. Chum used to get harp and guitar CDs in his kitty stocking, I kid you not! He’d come out from hiding if you put one of his CDs on, and he’d cuddle up next to the speakers and stay for hours in a sort of a trance.

Yes, please sing the Gracie song to your Gracie! It’s nice to imagine my Gracie living on that way!:)

**Mumbai dogs get home-delivered meals**
Wed Dec 13, 7:54 AM ET

MUMBAI, India - Mumbai’s fussy high-society dogs can now feast on gourmet cuisine specially adapted to their individual tastes and delivered to their homes.

More than 500 people have signed up for the Home-Care Dog Food service that caters to canines in Mumbai, India’s booming financial and entertainment capital, said the owner of the business, Wasiff Khan.

“They tell us about their dog’s likes, dislikes, allergies, and we come up with a meal plan for the month,” Khan said.

Owners’ habits are also taken into account, said Khan. On Hindu holidays when people do not eat meat for religious reasons, their dogs go vegetarian too.

Those who can afford the service, which costs from 30 rupees to 120 rupees ($0.66 to $2.60) daily, are attracted by the convenience, said Khan.

Before now, such pet pampering was unheard of in India, where hundreds of millions of people earn less in a day than the cost of these meals and where stray dogs are found on every street corner.

Demand for luxuries has grown however as India’s economic boom generates a large middle class with disposable income, as well as a small group of very wealthy, particularly in Mumbai.

“When you eat well, so should your dogs,” said Khan, now experimenting with meat-based birthday cakes for his clients.

J.C. Khanna, secretary of the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said it was just a case of people trying to do what is best for their pets.

“The poor share meals with dogs, they spend on medicines if their dog falls sick,” he said of shanty-dwellers who care for stray dogs in Mumbai.

“If the rich can afford to feed their dogs like this, so be it, as long as dogs are loved,” he added.

Cat Fact

Did you ever wonder why your cat’s teeth are sharper and more pointed than your dog’s? This is due to the fact that cats by nature are strict carnivores (meat eaters), while dogs are omnivores (eat a little of everything). The sharp teeth aid in catching prey and tearing flesh.

**My scaredy cat is afraid of guests. What can I do?**
Get her to associate people at the door with something nice. When you come home or when a friend arrives, consistently reward her with something meaningful to her (treat, toy, etc.) Start this process early — long before the holidays get under way. And always provide her with a place where she can hide and feel safe.

You are welcome Dee. I have a ginger cat who is 5yrs old. He is a little love bug, always wants me to hold him or sit in my lap. He constantly flops down at my feet and rolls around, wanting me to give him all the attention! When he was a kitten, he used to fling himself into my arms, while I was standing up! At times, he did this when you least expected it! Nothing like having a cat hanging from your shirt! ouch! He did this until he was a year old.

** 7-foot python is found in toilet bowl **

SYDNEY, Australia - An Australian wildlife worker pulled a 7-foot python out of a septic tank Wednesday after a plumber found it hiding in a woman’s toilet, officials said.

Peter Phillips, a wildlife officer for the Northern Territory’s Parks and Wildlife Service, was called to remove the snake after a plumber who was fixing the blocked toilet discovered it curled in the pipes.

“The … resident originally called a plumber because her toilet was blocked,” Phillips said in a statement released by the Northern Territory government. “I arrived to see a large python head peering out of the toilet bowl.”

Phillips removed the snake from the septic tank because he said it had grown too big to be pulled straight out of the toilet. The mostly nocturnal Carpet Python had probably taken up temporary residence in the septic tank because it was a good place to hide during the day and hunt for frogs.

“The tank was obviously a great home, because the snake was so fat and healthy it was it difficult to retrieve,” he said, adding that the nonpoisonous snake will be released.

When my daughter was little we used to go out to the country away from the city lights and park along a country road — throw a blanket on the hood and lay back to watch the show… Now I can’t get anyone to go with me :-( In a year or two I’ll be taking my granddaughter!
