This is Mickey and his little brother. They were our favorite kittens at our local Bodega in Brooklyn. We visited them almost every day and were heartbroken when Mickey was killed by a big scary car. Rest in peace little Mickey.

What sweet little angels! How precious your time was with them. Mickey will always live on through his brother, as well as Mickey being his and your guardian angel. Give him kisses and hugs from us!
Poor Mickey…I hope his brother found a good home, at least. And I hope little Mickey is playing in the soft grass, chasing little bugs and purring in the warm sun on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.
I am so sorry about Mickey…..My neighbor told me upon the death of one of our kittens, “Our cat friends don’t stay with us as long as others but they are just as important”. I was reading yesterdays comments about cats in the trees and I want to report on our college kittens and our tree. At the reccommendation of another TDKer I put clementine tangerines under the tree. It was amazing, the kittens and the three big cats didn’t even touch the tree. They would go under it to cut through to our hallway but that was it! Happy New Year! I’m I the first post?
What a horrible thing to lose such a beautiful, lovable baby, but the trauma was undoubtedly short and swift. I can see they had good taste in spirits as they protected that case of Guinness. I hope the brother left behind has a good home with a loving family. Maybe he can grow up to be a protector of the property and good will ambassador. Beautiful babies.
Beautiful little kitties…but that story makes me sad!! I’m constantly watching out for kitties in my neighborhood, and bemoaning the people who let them run where Big Scary Cars can get them….

I looked at the picture and thought OMG what beautiful kits, especially the one on the left. Then I have to read that he got killed by a car. Kittenmaster, I know awful things happen everyday, every hour but you know I really don’t want to see it on TDK.

I am so sorry to read about Mickey. It breaks my heart when so many animals are injured due to the lack of loving care. May Mickey, and all the other unfortunate ones, rest quietly.

Kitten Master, Thank you for sharing stories like this. Just because the kitten met a sad and untimely end shouldn’t keep it off the site. I’m sad too, but it did not ruin my day. I have been a lurker for quite some time now . . . but, in the holiday spirit (and as a way of saying thanks for a site which never fails to make me smile, even if I shed a tear or two), I thought I’d tell everyone about 2 books my DH gave me for Christmas. There is a photographer in Australia named Rachael Hale who specializes in photographing cats and kittens, and she has published 2 volumes of her pictures. The first is called “Cataclysms” and the second is called “Smitten”. They are full of some of the most beautiful and endearing photos of cats I’ve seen, and I’m sure that you all will appreciate. DH says that he got them from Amazon, but I haven’t gone to look them up. She has a website, too, http://www.rachaelhale.com. So, enjoy, everyone, and Happy Holidays!

You should have found these sweet babies a nice and loving home away from the big bad world! Even if that meant taking them to a shelter…at least there they would have had a shot at life. Stray kittens turn into feral cats who continue to reproduce. We have to control our stray and feral cat population.
Please don’t post such sad stories. Checking out these cute pictures every day brings such joy to me and it gives me hope that there are people out there who really do care about cats. This person doesn’t sound like they truly care about cats and that makes me sad.

I have always let my cats ourside ( Which in m case is a suburb) It seems so unfair to keep them when they enjoy life outside. Ok it is a bit scary at times but I do not think that I should imprison them in order to ensure my peace of mind,
The current cat Pen, is always so ful of confidence when he comes in. It is good to see him having enjoyed cat stuff,
I have two beautiful cats who stay inside. The youngest has never been outside except in my arms. My oldest got out once when she was in heat and stayed gone for a week and we were terrified she would never come home, but she was led home by a really big tabby (who has never been seen since, I believe “guardian angel kitty) and she was fine, not even pregnant! I know Mickey was a blessing to you.
I agree with an earlier poster, just because this is a sad thing to have happen does not mean it should not be posted, wouldn’t you want your picture and life story printed in the paper when you pass away(ie..obituary)? Poor baby will be missed, but not forgotten…
Thank you Kathy. I couldn’t have said it better. Also, an earlier person said the person who put the pictures in must not have cared for the cats. I know this sound rude, but did that person actually think before writing that? I have been in bookstores and grocery stores before that had a resident cat. Just because the two kittens lived in a store does not mean they were not loved. As I said earlier, the story is sad, but I thank the Kitten Master for putting it up.

Sounds like Mickey should have had a safe place to live. It is a very sad story. There are ways to stop tragedies such as this one.
