Eenie, Menie, Miney & Mo
I just recently decided to volunteer as a Foster Mom at my local Humane Society. This is my first brood - I received a mother and her four kittens when they were about four weeks old. At first I could not tell the three gray babies apart, but the white one with gray spots stood out, so I named them Eenie, Menie, Minie, and the stand-out is Mo. Before too long their different markings (mostly noses) and personalities became apparent. Eenie has an all pink nose, Menie has an all gray and cinnamon nose and Miney’s nose is part pink and part gray. As they grew, I also found that Menie and Mo were developing softer and longer fur. They are four crazy bundles of energy and love and I have truly enjoyed my first experience as a foster mom.

Ahhh Cat love, there is nothing better
I can’t decide which one I fell in love with first. I would have to adopt them all.
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! What a cute fuzzy bundle of joy. Four times the fuzz!
Bet you can’t part with them all when they are ready to be adopted out ! Any takers?
Lovely kitties. I hope they all find good loving forever homes.
Congratulations on your decision to open your home to needy four-legged bundles of love and fuzz. I hope that they find perfect homes with people that love them unconditionaly. I also like the names you picked out for them. Happy Monday.
Thanks for the update Tiger. Will continue to keep yor husband and your family in my prayers.
PS - My husband’s surgery on Friday went well but he’s recovering SLOWLY. I’m home right now because I have a plumber coming to fix a leak under my sink. Otherwise, I’d be at the hospital.
Hi Tiger-We have you and your hubby in our thoughts and prayers. Many purrs.
I’m happy to hear the surgery went well. Will continue to pray that he makes a full recovery and is home with you soon! Hugs to you, too, Tiger!
Good thoughts for your hubby’s recovery and your plumbing issues. I hope the plumber can get you squared away quickly so you can return to the hospital.
So glad to hear your husband’s surgery went well! I’ll bet that’s a HUGE load off of your mind. We’re all sending prayers and positive thoughts to you and your husband…
Hy Tiger, thank the Good Lord our first part of the prayer was answered now for the recovery we will still be sending prayers Heavenward.
Tiger, glad to hear the surgery went well. Hope the plumber hurries up and gets done so you can be with your husband. My best wishes for a smooth and speedy recovery. You are in my prayers.
All good thoughts and prayers for you!
Hi Tiger,
I am still praying for you that the plumber isn’t there all day! Glad to hear the surgery was good.
Oh I want all those bitty kitty bundles of joy. Prayers for your family Tiger.I’m an oncology nurse if you need a resource person.
Thanks for the offer. The plumber came and went, now it’s waiting for the electrician. I rent my place and there are some minor repairs to be done that I made appts for weeks ago and they are finally getting around to them.
They really look lovable and active. I sure they keep you quite busy and you are loving every minute of it. They are the cutest bunch of gray babies I’ve seen. My cat is gray, and while I love all cats, I think I am a little partial to gray ones. Give them a big group hug for me and kiss each one of thier different colored noses for me.
These little kits are waaaay to cute! Four bundles of sweet fluffyness. Thank you for being a foster mom!!
These are not kittens! They are living kitty dolls! How on earth do you part with them? I hope at the very least they will go in twos.
Renee from Arkansas if you were serious about adopting Bo, please e-mail Bo’s guardian: Bmtiz92@aim.com She said she can get him to Arkansas.
Will someone PLEASE adopt Bo (see Evangeline’s post). I live in Europe so I can’t take him but I’ve seen the video of him and he should have a home.
Oh! Is Renee thinking about adopting Bo? Wonderful! And how great that Miu in Finland thought of adopting him, as well? We have a bunch of big hearts here, eh?
Dee, please go back and read I think it is Saturday’s posting someone in FL I think Miami is in need of someone to adopt a kitty. Maybe you can help her find a home.
Go Bears!!!

Renee, please take Bo!
These four fluffballs are so cute - bet they are lots of trouble, too!
If anybody sees Renee of Arkansas. Please tell her about Bo.
His situation is desperate. This little love bug can’t go back on the streets.
Anybody else? Bo is in TN. So I am pretty sure he can be transported to surrounding states. Please help this little sweetie. Honestly I am in love with him but I am in CANADA (quarantine is 3 months or more!)

Oh, how this pic makes me want baby fuzzbutts, again! Bless you for fostering them! What a grey and white sweet tumble of fuzz!
They’re absolutely gorgeous!!!
Puddle of love! Totally adorable.
What a lovely family, and aren’t they lucky you took them in, and I’m sure you feel lucky as well.
That picture is just too beautiful! There must be mayhem (and lots of fun) in your house with four mischievous kitties around. I hope they (and momma cat) find loving forever homes.
Oh darling! It must be fun to watch them play..then just conk out and sleep. So cute. I’d have a hard time letting them leave!
Your picture made me smile: it’s like one of those puzzles - How many kittens are there in this picture? - and you start counting heads and legs!
Well done you for raising them to be so happy and healthy.
Oh my gosh - how adorable. They looks soooo soft. I can just hear them meow. I would have a hard time giving them up!!
What beautiful little fuzzies. Our oldest cat is a grey and white princess. When we went to pick her out, my husband (not a cat lover at the time), chose her as she would match our living room (grey and white also). We have moved since, and she’s still around, despite not matching anymore!
A purrrfect example of why I don’t think I could ever foster. I’d never give up that group of four. They look so WONDERFUL!
EXACTLY!! My one effort at fostering has left with the litter of 5, because I could not give any of them up to anyone else. So, I live with the pride of my little lions, 4 brothers and 1 sister! Not complaining, and I would do it all over again-
Each of the 4 cats I’ve had as an adult were cats I rescued and intended to take to the no-kill shelter the next day. (I’m such a wuss…)
No, you and others are not wusses just kind caring people.
What adorable babies! You are such a good person fostering a mama cat and her kittens. If I was able to do that, I’d fall in love with them and have to keep them all!
They made me think of a new collective noun
‘A Tangle of Kittens’
Oh, that’s perfect. I think I’ll refer to them as a tangle from now on, instead of a litter.
PILE O’ GRAY fuzz
THIS is why I don’t foster–There would be no way on earth that I could part with a single one of these little fluffbutts!! They’re just too sweet and precious and squishable…my house would be total feline pandemonium!! These are GORGEOUS babies.
Catch a tiger by the toe FUZZ
Four of a kind FUZZ
With the momma it makes a full house!
Good one, Susan!!
Hey, Lynn! I was wondering where you were!
Hi Dee, I have a few more extra minutes today than I’ve had in a while, so I’ve been a bit chatty today!
Kudos to you foster mommie!! What precious little babies!
That’s not a litter, that’s a Hallmark card!…Beautiful!
So many paws to squish! I’d have to quit my job….
Know what you mean. I’d be kissing noses all day!
You have to check out the video of this adorable death-defying duck! (I love ducks–we had 2 of them growing up in Michigan–they are like little dogs…)

I saw it on the news yesterday morning the hunter was the woman’s husband. Luckily he is a lousy shot and the refridgerator was too cold. That is truly one Lucky Ducky.
That was supposed to be wasn’t too cold. Maybe it was good it was cold enough it probably slowed down the bleeding.
When I lived in Augusta there was a pond with about 15 Mallard ducks and one lone goose. My apartment was not noticable from the pond but somehow they found out. Each morning they would waddle their way over in a line to my patio where they would partake of the days fare I put out for the birds and squrriels. When they finished eating they would drink out of the two bowls of water and they walk back up the hill to the pond. They came back in the early evening for dinner. I started buying loaves of bread and would feed them that. The goose got so used to me he/she would eat the bread or popcorn right out of my hand. When I started taking my young neice down to the pond they would wait at the top of the hill every afternoon for us and escort us to the far end of the pond to a swing. I felt like Dr. Dolittle with all of them honking and quacking around us.
aww, how sweet!
For you Bears fans out there. I was at my daughter’s house in East Moline, Illinois to watch the game. When the Bears won some of her neighbors set off a brief fireworks display! It had snowed about 4 inches yesterday, so it was very odd to be standing in the snow watching fireworks! DA Bears!
I was so excited last night now I have to start new prayers that they can beat the Colts.
Susan-GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to keep PMA (positive mental atitude) that used to be harder when I was PMSing I still wanted to kill someone but I would do it with a smile on my face!
I was so glad to see the Colts beat the Pat’s. I like both Da Bears and the Colts, but for this one. GO BEARS!!!!!!
I like the Colts also but of course I am rooting for my Bears. I did think it would be a hoot if we played the Pats again 21 years later and had the same outcome! (46-10)
very sad story with a happy ending..

Dee, sad picture and story. Glad Pilgrim is ok. They should lock up the owner and throw away the key. I just don’t understand how people can do these kinds of things.
I know. I thought the most remarkable thing was that he wagged his tail when he was so close to death. After all of that suffering, he was still man’s best friend…
And they wonder why I really don’t like people all that much. That person should be taken out, beaten and then tied up without food or water too
how cool! true fans…
Here is an article about a wonderful woman in Tam, pa who is celebrating 15 years running a nonprofit “educational sanctuary” that houses neglected and unwanted big cats. If you ever come to Tampa, it is a must see. At the end of the article, there is a link to the sanctuary.

**Mom Induces Labor So Husband Can Attend Game**
POSTED: 12:56 pm EST January 21, 2007
CHICAGO — Chicago school teacher Colleen Pavelka knows how much her husband loves the Bears. Apparently, she loves him even more.
Colleen chose to have the birth of their second child induced a few days early so Mark Pavelka could attend Sunday’s NFC Championship showdown between the Bears and the New Orleans Saints.
The baby was due Monday. But when Colleen went in for an appointment Friday afternoon, her doctors told her she could opt for an early delivery. She decided to do so.
After nearly six hours of labor, 8-pound, 9-ounce Mark Patrick Pavelka was born Friday night.
Colleen Pavelka plans to catch the game on the plasma screen TV in her hospital room, while baby Mark Patrick is bundled up in the Bears receiving blanket his grandmother bought him for Christmas.
Now that is a person who has her priorities straight!
**Pet Shop Owner Creates Beer for Dogs**
Jan 22, 8:38 AM (ET)
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) - After a long day hunting, there’s nothing like wrapping your paw around a cold bottle of beer. So Terrie Berenden, a pet shop owner in the southern Dutch town of Zelhem, created a beer for her Weimaraners made from beef extract and malt.
“Once a year we go to Austria to hunt with our dogs, and at the end of the day we sit on the verandah and drink a beer. So we thought, my dog also has earned it,” she said.
Berenden consigned a local brewery to make and bottle the nonalcoholic beer, branded as Kwispelbier. It was introduced to the market last week and advertised it as “a beer for your best friend.”
“Kwispel” is the Dutch word for wagging a tail.
The beer is fit for human consumption, Berenden said. But at euro1.65 ($2.14) a bottle, it’s about four times more expensive than a Heineken.
I’m sure most of you have seen this story, but here it is just in case..
**Cat Found Safe After 3 Weeks In Cargo Hold Of Jet**
http://cbs4boston.com/pets/local_story_018101221.html
That is the first I have heard of the story. The poor baby I don’t think I would let them put in on a plane I would drive to get her. Either that or the airlines would have to fly her in the cabin. I flew one year with my cat Shadow to MO on 10/31 she was all black luckily no one saw her. When we stopped in St. Louis to take on more passengers and cargo they loaded cases of white mice. That had to be one interesting flight in the cargo hold.
These “animal bravery” stories always make me all misty! (To those who read Marley & Me: I thought one of the best parts of the book is when John Grogan realized how protective goofy Marley was when the teen-aged girl was attacked in the middle of the night…)
**Dog shot while leaping at mugger**
German shepherd defended Bay Area owner; ‘Buffy’ may lose a leg
Updated: 2:02 p.m. ET Jan 12, 2007
OAKLAND, Calif. - A dog named Buffy was seriously wounded after being shot defending her owner during a robbery.
The German shepherd leapt into action after Will Bartley arrived at his Oakland home after work, and the dog ran out to greet him. At about the same time, a gunman approached and demanded Bartley’s wallet.
As Bartley complied, Buffy lunged at the mugger, who opened fire on the dog. Bartley wasn’t hurt, but doctors say there’s a 50-50 chance that Buffy could lose one of her legs.
It’s not clear if Buffy bit the gunman before he fled.
Why did I not know about this? For shame, J C Penney!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16597610/
I’ll add Penney’s to my list of things to boycott, Tom Cruise, that Gentry guy from Montgomery-Gentry and now the store. Thank you Dee for telling us about this horrible practice.
I am shocked that it’s not bigger news.
That is horrible, Dee. Thank you for the info!
PETA is asking JC Penney to adopt a fur free policy–you can contact : Mike Ullman, CEO, at this site….
http://getactive.peta.org/campaign/JC_Penney?qp_source=jcpgen
PS—if PETA’s images disturb you, DO NOT click on any videos or photos. I believe that most of us here, as animal lovers, are fully aware of how horrific these things are. I have not been able to get the graphic images of a “fur farm” killing out of my head for over a year now….
Dee, go to the PETA website if you want the whole awful truth. Warning: strong stomach needed. I’ll never buy another fur again, I think. If you remember the “mink” teddy bears of long ago - turns out they were cat fur, from China again.
Lynne—I’ve viewed most of the videos—just passing the information on to others who may get angry that I did not warn them about the graphic images. (It’s happened before.)
And, I’m really not trying to be confrontational, but after viewing those videos, are you “uncertain” that you would every buy a fur again?
Dee, you’re reading too much into my note. I have occasionally bought fur, the last time was 30 years ago.
When I was a little girl I had a white fur muff I thought that they sheared it like they do sheep. I was young and no idea that they killed and skinned the rabbit. When we know more we do better.
This could elicit a tear or two…
Diane Klajbor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin notes that she was pretty sure she was a “dog” person. Her beloved golden retriever, Lady had been the light of her life for fourteen years. Lady had cemented Diane’s love for dogs and her passing was particularly difficult. When it was time to bring another new friend into her home though, it wasn’t a dog that Diane chose. She told herself that with the house empty most of the day it was more practical to find a cat to adopt.
Slippers, a 6 year-old ragdoll was the chosen feline. Diane notes that it took no time at all before they were fast friends. She thought there was something special about this cat. Then a particular incident may her certain.
Slippers had been living with Diane for a few weeks and was curled up in a corner of the couch while Diane watched television. She was watching a show about angels and how they arrived in moments of great need such as the loss of a loved one and a thought occurred to her. She looked over at Slippers and asked, “Did Lady send you to me?” Slippers head popped up and she looked Diane directly in the eyes, holding her gaze as she reached out with a paw and placed it in the center of her hand.
Diane says that this was when she knew that Lady, her beloved dog had sent her Slippers and that this lovely cat was meant to be her new buddy. This was also when Diane became an equal opportunity animal lover, loving dogs and cats just the same.
Oh, I teared up on that one.
Dee, we can’t seem to ever get away from this sort of thing, can we. What a sorry state this world is in. All animals deserve the best we can offer them. Stories like that make me sad.
The four pack, though, have brought the smile back to my face. They are the cutest.
Q: “Why does my cat suddenly race around when there’s nothing there?”
A: Ah yes, the 5 O’clock Crazies! Or the “Zooms.” There are a number of names for this phenomenon, but you can rest assured there’s nothing wrong with your cat. Some behaviorists believe that house cats that no longer “work” for a living, the way their hunting ancestors did, tend to have a large amount of pent-up energy. And when this energy reaches “critical mass,” the cat explodes in a burst of activity that might be racing solo around the house, dashing up stairs, or whatever cleverness kitty can devise.
My kitty has the “zoomies” a lot as he is an indoor kitty. Since both of us work, we don’t always get to play with him. Sometimes when we are walking from the bedroom to the the kitchen or to the living room, he zooms right in front or along side.
5 O’clock crazies??? I wish! My kitties get the 2 O’clock in the morning crazies! I bet these four cuties can really get the crazies.
I heard on a TV show this was called FRAPing (Frantic Random Activity Period).

**Feeling Low? Could Be From ‘Blue Monday’**
POSTED: 8:16 am PST January 22, 2007
Feeling down this Monday?
You’re not alone, according to a psychologist at Cardiff University, who has declared Jan. 22 Blue Monday.
Dr. Cliff Arnall said on the news Web site icWales that a mathematical formula shows how the confluence of post-Christmas fatigue, holiday bills, bad weather and failed resolutions can make people depressed.
The formula is: 1/8W+(D-d)3/8xTQMxNA.
The site said the factors are W for weather, D for debt from Christmas bills, d for monthly salary, T for time since Christmas. Q is the failure to keep a resolution or quit a bad habit, M stands for motivation and NA is the need to take action.
“The truth is a lot of people feel down at this time and a lot of people have depression as well, particularly men, and they don’t want to talk about it,” Arnall said.
That explains it….add to it that I drank 3 glasses of wine while watching the games last night…. or was it 4?
I’m with you Catrancher, but mine was beer!!!! Football gets me everytime. But I wouldn’t miss it for the world!!!
Four times the fun! That is so nice that you are willing to foster these cute kitties. I could not be a foster as I would want to keep them all. That would drive my husband nuts.
Cuteness!
I want to try fostering. I wonder if i could foster a pregnant cat now that i all ready have my little Aeryn. I think though it may be better to foster singletons at first till my cat is used to other cats. then maby bring in a pregnant cat at a later time.
