Sunkist
This is Sunkist, otherwise known as “Sun Kissy Face”. She’s called that because she has an orange spot from her nose to up between her eyes. She’s very photogenic so you may see a lot of her! Beside being very cute, she’s a bit mischeivious at times.

The sweetest ray of sunshine there could be.
Good one, Caddycat! How did you insert the musical notes? Very classy!
Sunkist is a fuzzy cutie!
The musical notes are in Microsoft Word, under the “insert symbol” icon.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Love that little Sunshine! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
WOW! Who needs a dishwasher with a toung like that?
Soooo cute!!!!
I AGREE WITH THAT .. THAT IS A BEAUTIFUL, PRECIOUS LITTLE PROTECTOR. WHAT A CLEVER NAME YOU CAME UP WITH.. SHE IS A BEAUTIFUL RAY SUNSHINE..
cute cat
What a tongue! Wow!
Mmmmm huge tongue you have there little Sunkist. Use it wisely.
I think her tongue bigger than the rest of her. What a cutie.
Bronx cheer FUZZ! Neener, neener, neener!
Little baby ray of Sunkist, or Start your day, the Sunkist way!
I couldn’t deside so I did both.
What a beauty, I can see how it would be hard to resist a kiss from that sweet face.
Oh my gosh - her tongue!!! Very cute - sounds like a major sweetie pie!!
What a cute girl. Further to the cat Bo who needs a home (see posts on previous days). I agree with (I think it was) Ann F that If Bo needs to be transported any distance to a new home we could try to put the money for that together from amongst TDK readers. I would certainly be willing to contribute. I can’t take Bo as I am in Europe. Meanwhile it’d be good to keep the person caring for Bo at the moment informed of our interest — it might buy some time,
I agree Valerie, that I would be willing to contribute to Bo’s travel expenses if need be. Hopefully someone could take this message to Bo’s caretaker as you said. Thanks for the input.
I agree. I would definitely donate what I can to help out Bo. I wish i could take him. I think about it often. I have no idea how I would get to Tennessee or get him to New Hampshire, or afford his vet bills or how my other cats would handle a new addition (particularly if he does need amputation, they rough-house each other alot). This story breaks my heart and I dream about it.
To everyone who is concerned about BO:
I heard from Brittany his caregiver, he is in surgery today. They will see if he can keep his leg.
Most definitely he will need some financial help, Brittany will post later today. I will let her explain it all.
Since I am the one who started the Bo campaign I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Bo touched our hearts and I hope that together with this wonderful TDK family we will be able to help him.
Sunkist is a lovely kitten. I adore that orangie streak on her sweet face. Kiss her for me, would you?
Oh peachy, my full name instead of my first. That’s what happens when you use autofill.
What is the name of the organization caring for Bo? We can make donations directly to the organization and have them start a Bo fund.
Thanks ppearson..Brittany who has Bo now will be posting at some point. Today was Bo’s surgery so I guess she is busy.
Thanks again for caring
On march 11 I will be driving home from east Tenn to lincoln nebraska. I would be willing to transport Bo at this time if he is healthy and someone along my drive home is willing to adopt him, i would love to take him but I already have 5 cats, 4 dogs 2 horses……got a full house already
who is Bo? where is he? I am looking for a baby kitten, just weeks old…I can’t find any near Greenville, SC…can anyone help me?? mariekie1@hotmail.com
I have 8 large cats, one of which has his hind leg amputated at the hip. In no way is his catness or ability to get around and rough house lessened by his missing a limb. He, is often the one who is giving the “whipping” to one of the others. Roo doesn’t know his leg is missing and neither do the other cats. The only think odd is when he is trying to scratching behind his ear using the missing leg. His head is tilted, and you can see movement in the hip muscle where he is trying like hell to scratch that itch. He can’t get no satisfaction. I give him ear scritches on that side EVERY night and often when I see him trying to itch!
Oh, how cute! That reminds me of when Juliet had to wear that “lampshade” on her head—she couldn’t lick herself so she would lick the inside of the lampshade—so funny!
I know, all the movement is there, but no leg action…head tilted…ear askew…leaning to one side….hip muscle pumping away….no satisfaction… I wonder if like phantom limbs, with the lower brain function of an animal, he can actually feel the claws getting the itch and it’s relieved… anyway, I always laugh when he does that!
Good idea. I’ll contribute. I wish I could take him but I have 4 spoiled, jealous (sometimes hateful) cats already. The last one I picked up (Annie) lives in my bedroom with the door closed all of the time so Romeo won’t get her. I consider it a good day when the rest of them ignore each other. I love them to pieces and wouldn’t trade them for anything but I sure wish they all liked each other.
I’ll help as well… I wish I could take him but I have 8 persnickitty cats already..
I have four myself and my landlord thinks I have none, but I would be more than happy to contribute to ensure that there is one less abandoned cat somewhere.

She looks like she’ll be a lickkety-kisser! What a cutie!
She sure is a kissy face! I love the tongue!
This is beyond cute.
Oh, wow, that is a great picture!!!!
I would love to come home from work to her every day - despite her mischief!
I agree with Valerie about contributing to help Bo, the poor kitty. I’m in.
Valerie, where in Europe are you? I’m from Denmark, but have lived in the US for more than a decade now.
She gives new meaning to the phrase “kitty KISS”
wow !!! what a great big tongue for such a little girlie !!!
Greaqt shot. She does have a kissable face! I’d like to kiss her orange stripe on her nose. Love her fuzziness too
i got some custom made picture frames last night, and I bet my kitties are playing as we speak with all the paper they came with…it sure was true all last night !!!
What a sweetheart. He looks like the guy from the band Kiss that has that very long tongue.
Just remembered his name Gene Simmons. I swear he could lick his own eyebrows.
Rock Star FUZZ! haha… Sunkist is absolutely adorable. I can tell she’s full of energy. What a doll!
I heard he had the thingy, the tendon like thing, under his tongue cut so he could stick it out that far (?)
kitties are such good recyclers !!! anything can be made into a cat toy !!!
Have you ever noticed that the enjoyment a cat gets from a toy is inversely proportional to the cost of a toy? Or am I the only one whose cat has rejected a $150 cat tower house in favor of the cardboard box in which it came?
Mittens is with your kits on this one. A cardboard box or bag is way more fun any expensive toy that was carefully picked out. I have an unused scratching post but the inexpensive cardboard scratcher is ripped to shreds within days.
more fun THAN any expensive toy… Sorry.
All three of mine are on board with that. The dollar store is an awesome source of cat toys.
Mine have rejected every single toy I’ve ever bought for them. But they love playing hockey with the plastic caps from the soda bottles.
Same her mayra, hockey with plastic caps is the bestest! That is according to my Alfie, who can play for hours with them.Best store bought toy? An inexpensive, positively cheap looking one but it is great to get them jumping. *THE CAT DANCER*- get one for your kitties you won’t be sorry
Well, when I came home from work last night, I noticed that the full roll (double-roll sized, actually) of toilet paper that I had put on top of the toilet tank (I swear I was going to put in on the dispenser when I came home! haha!) had been “gutted” by Emily (I know it was her–she has made her hatred of paper products well known). There was no saving it, because as I picked it up off of the bathroom floor, I realized it was covered with CAT SPIT! So I decided I’m taking it out in kibble. (I’m kidding.)
Yes, I have noticed that cats love to play with the inexpensive toys the most. I have a scratching post out side for my kitties that my husband made for me. When it tears up, I just replace it. We now have come up with a design and added a moveable post with a rope attached. I’m planning on putting a tote swing on it this spring. It goes around in circles. I got the idea when awhile back, I used to have a rope tied to the clothes line. My cats would attack it and everytime it bounced someone else would be hanging from it! I also took a cane pole and tied a rope to it. I would tell my husband, I’m going fishing! I would have cats chasing it all over the place! What a sight, can you imagine 12 or more cats after it?!
My two love the rings off the gallon milk jugs. They will carry them all over to find “just the right spot” to play with them. And let us not forget the socks from the hamper and the hamper itself.
Renee-get a patent before someone steals your idea.
Many of you saw the video I posted of my kitten fetching. He is playing with a pair of my son’s outgrown socks.
I do the same with my kitties, but put kat nip (catmint) in the sock and tie it off. They love it, and it is refillable
Gracie loved knee-highs that have been rolled down to form little disks. they fly like frisbees when they are new. She will play fetch and carry them around the house until they are in shreds.
My cat adores the tops off soft drinks. She will bat is around until she loses it under the couch or cedar chest. I would probably find a dozen or more lids under there now. Sunkist sure is a cute kitty!
Same goes for me as well. My cat Sylvester loves to bat around soda caps for hours until it gets lodged somewhere. He also learned that it is fun to shred the toilet paper so I have to hide it behind a towel that hangs above the toilet roll dispenser. If there is a plastic wrapping around, he will find it and play with it. I have to be careful with the items that come with shipping “peanuts” as I caught him with one in his mouth just in time. He loves any box that I leave out. I call him the box kitty and when he is bad, I threaten to ship him off (just kidding of course).
My cats like the rings from the milk jugs, qtips, bags, boxes, laser lights (the lazy woman’s way to play with her cats). Romeo likes a roll of paper towels. I will buy him a roll of cheap paper towels and pull of the first one and give it to him before I leave in the morning. I know the living room will look like it was hit by a snowstorm when I get home but it is so worth it. And don’t even get me started on the Christmas tree ornaments. They also like these little balls of fur I buy them at Petco. This kitten today is a sweetheart. I simply cannot believe that tongue. Will April never get here? My daughter is moving out the end of March and taking her bedroom and the den furniture with her. I will have one room for 2 new kittens for me and one room to foster kittens for the House of Mews. YAY!
Congratulations KITTYPAW on your new additions to your family. I’m sure you’ll enjoy them.
I’ve spent quite a bundle on toys only to discover that the rings on the milk bottles are the best things since sliced bread as far as my cats are concerned. Sometimes I’ll give them a BIG one from the big Ozarka bottle. That really freaks them out - lol.
2 best cat toys ever, at least according to my 2 beasties are balls of crumpled paper and pens. Decibel will come a-runnin when he hears me crumple paper!
my cat babygirl has a strange interest in playing with nail files. I try not to let her as I am afraid of what it will do to her teeth, but everytime I bring one out she is right there at my side.
You’re right. I give my son’s cat, Tiger, these mini Beanie Baby things that cost around $2.99 and he gets a lot of mileage out of them; in fact my daughter-in-law ends up having to mend them! I don’t think they like when Tiger jumps on their bed to show them his “catch” at 4 am, especially when it’s one with a bell in it….
My Hudson’s favorite toys are pony tail holders. But he’s picky, they have to be the thick soft kind. He will in fact steal them RIGHT OUT OF MY HAIR if he can.
Don’t you know, that when you spend any amount of money on a cat, you have to act like it was nothing at all. Like a piece of garbage you found on the side of the street, then maybe they will stick their noses in the direction of the supposed garbage.
Oh my ! What a big tongue you have! The better to ‘kiss’ you with. Too cute.
Hi Great Dane
I’m in England now with 2 cats, but I’ve lived all over. I’m doing this at work so I can’t write more!
What a beautiful face! Good thing she has such a long tongue to clean it with!
Sweet little kissed by the sun kitty. I hope she grows into that tongue!
She looks adorable!
Raspberry fuzz!! Adorable!!!
She is adorable…but I have never seen such a large tongue on such a teeny kitteh.
Is that a prop tongue? What a beautiful girl–such a gorgeous fur coat! Very photogenic, indeed!
INSTINCT: If you posted the recipe, I must have missed it…
No, I wasn’t sure if you would want it. Some people - though it is hard to belive - do not like chocolate.
So what I posted was that if you would like it I will give it to you. I posted that after your lemon bread (was it lemon bread) posting
Yes, I would like it–please. I like everything except for organ meats and rutabagas! (It was lemon pound cake—it’s fantastic!)
Hey Dee, I have a recipe for lemon pie, that is made out of lemon jello. My mom has one for lemon cake. She makes a sauce out of lemon pudding and uses it as the icing on top and in the middle. If you are interested, I’ll try and look it up.
Thanks, Renee! Although, I must admit I really only cook/bake “real” food—rarely anything like cake mixes or pudding mixes, etc. Not because I’m a a food snob, but simply because everything tastes a thousand times better made from scratch (and what seems to surprise so many people who’ve never baked from scratch, is the fact that it usually takes just a few more minutes of time!) I think you cook a lot from scratch, too, eh?
Dee, I think it also uses lemon juice, jello is just the base of the recipe. I haven’t made one in years. My mom liked it, when I made it for her birthday. I cook from scratch but I sometimes change things up in a recipe even when I use a cake mix. I’ve never had much of anything left when I take my food to a dinner! I made a homemade banana cream pie when I was in high school, for a dinner we were sponsoring. My pie disappeared in 15 minutes while everyone else’s was hardly touched. I wondered how many of my classmates mom’s made their dishes?
That’s so funny. Mom baking their homework! Actually, I must admit that after seeing Paula Deen (whom I love) bake this super easy, rich coconut cake on her show one day, and looked like she was in ecstasy upon eating it, I decided to make it—there is a mix involved. But, like you said, there is so much stuff added to it, it does not taste like a mix. (If you like coconut–it is delicious!)
I love to cook from scratch. too bad I have a kitchen the size of a postage stamp. I get done making a sandwich for lunch and there is no room on the counters.
GREAT DANE - There are some strange people out there who don’t. These are probably the same sad sould who say that they don’t like cats.
I’ve never personally met one, but I have heard rumors that they exist and live in Washington DC
WHAT, who doesn’t like chocolate?????
I agree, Great Dane. I LOVE chocolate! I have a recipe for chocolate mousse pudding.
I love chocolate! Unfortunately, I’m allergic to it. Only mildly though - I often decide it’s worth risking hives…..
Now that proves you are a true choca-holic.
*Standing up*
Hi, my names Instinct and I’m a Chocaholic. It started with just a few M&M’s every once in a while. I thought I could handle it
Gradually I began keeping mini Snickers bars on my desk at work. Sure, I said they were for the whole department, but I always at them.
Now, if I don’t have any chocolate bars at home, I drink the chocolate syrup straight out of the bottle…
Hi Instinct!
My name is Renee, I’m a choco-holic, too. I love Hersheys kisses, esppecially the dark chocolate & raspberry and the Cherry Cordial ones! I have drank the syrup also. lol
Hi Instinct. My name is Lioness and I am a choco-holic. It all started with tasting my first piece of choclolate as a little girl. In my teens, my Mom tried to wean my father, myself and my sister off of chocolate with the fake stuff by making a carob cake. We all took one bite and ran from the room. I use to always have a jar of peanut M & M’s in the kitchen but found that I was going through 3 lbs of them in two to three days. I also love mocha starbucks coffee.
I live and die for chocolate.
Hi, I am Jennifer and I too, am a choco-holic, and thank you all for sharing in this moment with me. I have been known to indulge in Hershy bars and Kisses.
I put it up here tonight when I get home from work.
Work - the great evil that interupts our time of relaxation
OK, here it is - the best Chocolate Mousse Pie recepie I have ever had. The best thing is that it only has about 200 calories per serving (8 servings)
Crust
10 Chocolate Graham Crackers
2 Tbs honey
2 Tbs unsalted butter (melted)
Filling
1 envelope unflavored gelatin
½ cup cold water
12 oz evaporated skim milk
3 Tbs unsweetened cocoa powder
2 Tbs Sugar
7 oz semisweet chocolate, broken into pieces
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
14 oz Whipped cream or Non-Dairy Whipped topping
Preheat oven to 350
Crust
Crush the graham crackers into fine crumbs. Then, mix with the honey and butter until all crumbs are moistened and then hold together.
Pour the crumbs into a 9” spring form pan and press evenly across the bottom and up the sides. This is easiest if done with a glass that has straight sides and a flat bottom
Bake crust in the oven for 5 minutes. Remove and allow to cool on counter.
Filling
In a small saucepan, sprinkle gelatin over the cold water and let stand for 1 minute until gelatin softens. Then place pan over low heat until gelatin dissolves.
In medium saucepan bring evaporated milk to a boil stirring constantly.
Stir in cocoa powder, sugar and chocolate. With wire whisk, mix until smooth
Pour into a large bowl for cooling and add vanilla and the gelatin mixture.
Once at room temperature, refrigerate and stir every 10 minutes until it thickens (this will keep a skin from forming and allow it to chill evenly) in about 30 to 40 minutes.
Gently fold in whipped topping and then pour into crust.
Refrigerate for at least two hours and serve
I will usually use the leftover chocolate to grate and sprinkle on the top
OK, so my wife posted it before I could
I would only add that I strain the chocolate mixture when I pour it into the bowl for cooling
Now, THAT’S a pie! Thanks a lot Mr and Mrs Instinct!
You’re welcome, from both of us.
