Stinky Wizelty

Stinky WizeltyThis is Stinky Wizelty (the name is from the cartoon Ren and Stimpy), Stinky for short. My husband and I fostered Stinky for over a month. Stinky was originally brought to animal shelter I volunteer at by his rescuers when he was very young, about 1/2 to one week-old, not even old enough to walk or eat on his own. For about two weeks after he was brought to the shelter, he was bottle-fed and taken care of by the director of the animal shelter. At four weeks-old, I brought him home and named him Stinky because he always wore his food on his face and smelt of wet cat food. He has quite a huge personality for such a small kitten. He is very energetic, curious, playful, animated, and fun to be around. He had a strange appetite for whatever I ate, whether it is a peach, a cookie, steak (he loves that), mash potatoes, and surprisingly… vegetables. He has now found a forever home! Who could resist this peachy-colored kitten?

What a beautifu baby boy to have such a name. Such a tough beginning to life but now he has a forever home. My Domino ate the same things when he was a kitten besides the meat and mashed potatoes he loved peas and spinach with a sprinkeling of vinagar.

Reminds me of one Thanksgiving when my cat Callie was alive - I’m not crazy for peas, so tossed one toward Callie, who was begging, and she caught it in her mouth - she did this with about 15 peas until she got tired of it!

My kittens had quite the Los Angeles/California/fusion palate: their favorite foods when they were babies were avocado, sprinkled with sea salt, and sushi (sashimi, actually). They did deign to drink tap water, though they eyed the bottled water covetously.

My Puss liked a good ham sandwich and a scone to follow (well-buttered, of course) She used to eat the wurst from my husband’s lunch pail when she could, but always left the rye bread. Ice cream was a favourite, especially chocolate. Happy days.

Ohhhhhh, that reminds me of something that happened to my Chris. I had a bowl of Rice Krispies on a low table. Chris hooked his paw into the bowl, pulled and dumped Rice Krispies all over himself! I asked the spousal unit which he wanted to do: give Chris a bath or clean the gooey, pasty Rice Krispies out of the rug. Spousal unit made the correct choice…..he gave Chris a bath.

According to native thinking, many of us actually live up to our names as we age. Perhaps he will wind up liking beans the best of all as a lifestyle and a contribution to everyone in his environment.

Have a great life in your forever home Stinky. Love love love.

He’s a beautiful little guy! I’m curious–did you name him Stinky “Wizelty” because you didn’t want to use the real name (Wizzleteats) or just because you thought Wizelty was cuter? He certainly deserves a cute name, and his personality really comes through in the pic! :)

Faigie,
Mine used to eat corn on the cob! They would chew the corn off of it. I can’t remember what veggies exactly a kitty can eat but they shouldn’t have anything spiced with garlic, onions and the such. It can make them sick or at the least, upset their stomach. Mine also eat baked potatoes(plain, no skins). I used to have a recipe for homemade kitty stew for cats, that you can make for them to eat. If you are interested, I’ll try to find it.

My Perry, is 1/2 Siamese, I think they call his coloring cameo? The same coloring as Stinky, loves popcorn, cheetos, and corn chips. Our tuxedo cat, Oliver Twist, loves yogurt!
A friend gave me a nice sized catnip plant one summer and I put it out on top of the grill cause I didn’t want my indoor cats to eat too much at once. Well, the next day the whole thing was eaten down to the roots!!! My cats didn’t even get any!

This comes from the Farmer’s Almanac:

Better than grass salad

1 small carrot, peeled and grated
1/4 cup peeled and grated zucchini
1/2 cup chopped alfalfa sprouts
1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
1/8 cup chicken stock
1/4 teaspoon dried or fresh catnip (optional)
COMBINE VEGETABLES in a medium bowl. Add chicken stock and toss. Sprinkle with catnip and serve at room temperature. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days (do not freeze). Makes 1 to 2 cups.

If your kitten likes oranges, don’t ever think it’s cute. I let mine eat little bits of oranges, he seemed to like them so much. He ended up with six months of diarrhea and the vet said he couldn’t do anything to help him. After this, I never let my cats eat anything except catfood.

I am sure there is some sort of official definition, but I just think of it as taking care of the kittens, no matter how they may come to you, with the intention of them moving on to a permanent home. I tried to foster a trio of girl kittens that a friend of mine had been left with - her neighbor had taken the kittens from under her house, put them in a PLASTIC BAG, and then dumped them on my friend’s stoop. My friend, a dog person, tried to take care of them, but ended up calling me in tears. I took the girls, and I did have them vaccinated, examined, and ultimately spayed, but that was because I already had 5 cats of my own, and I did not want to expose them to any diseases or anything. Despite the overwhelming desire to keep them (kicking the total up to 8 cats), I did give them away to beautiful and secure homes in the end, but it did break my heart. I tried once more to foster a little orange boy that I found on a stoop, but I ended up keeping him. So if you have the reserve and strength to give them away, I think fostering is invaluable and kudos to all those who can do it. It’s just really hard to give them away–

They call me stinky
but look at my paws,
see the front pinky
it spells out ALPHA.

I know how to count,
so count my fingers,
1-2-3-4-5,
that’s for 5 pinkies
on each back paw.

I’m sure not touting
my tush, honest I’m not.
It’s my toes I’m counting,
’cause I’m celebrating,
my new ma and pa.

I’m brand new, so’s my song,
May be you ought to tell em
to start calling me “PAW!

I have a Stinky too (orange tiger). She was a tiny thing at the shelter just sitting there shaking in fear. I had to take her home, she was not the type I kitten I was looking for, but she was so pathetic looking. I bottle fed her kitten formula for a couple of weeks, which is how she got her name. The formula gave her gas and made her burp. And you know how little kittens love to sleep around your neck, phew! She is eight years old now and follows me everywhere I go.
