Stripes and Harmony
We adopted Stripes and Harmony from our neighbor, who took in a pregnant stray cat, Penny. The kittens are now six months old, and we ended up adopting Penny as well!

Awwwwww I love them. *opens backpack*
Sneaks up behind Huddy’s mama and stows away in MY backpack.
Hey you!! Watch it!!!
Just wanted to see if you were back! (Wearing large sheepish grin)
Suuuuuuuuuure you did.
It’s just wonderful that they all got to stay together. Three times the love.
The little striped one seems so contented he got to keep his family together
Congratuations to the COLTS team and their fans. As a life long fan of the Bears it is hard to say but the better team one yesterday.
The biggest winners were the fans who got to watch such an exciting game on TV and not be out in the rain!
I didn’t look at the game - but I saw Prince tearing it up at halftime, lol.
With the rain and all I was impressed he was out there with all that electrical equipment
I think they pretty much do an awesome job of ‘grounding’ equipment these days. New technology and all that stuff.
I can remember long ago, concerts would be cancelled in the rain, but I’ve been to plenty where it was raining and raining HARD in the last 10 years or so.
The Woodlands hasn’t even cancelled a concert due to rain that I can remember.
Five hours later I just reread my comment that should be won not one guess it was hard to type and think thru my tears!
It’s ok, Susan. I still like you. You can cry on my shoulder any day.
I love Stripes and Harmony! I want to take them both home. Twice the fun!
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, I take back every nasty thought I had of you being a fan of the enemy! LOL
I would like to say I love the pictures of the cats you post here. I am in the UK and look forward to 3.07 every day!
How sweet! I’ll play Chutes and Ladders with you two!
They look just like a pair of foster kittens I cared for! Sonny and Shadow were their names. So glad they found their furrever home and with their momma to boot!
It is so nice of you that you kept these two adorable babies and their mama together. I do hope you get her fixed or you wil end up with a house full!
Hi Susan,
How are you and Petey today? I read your post late yesterday about you and Lynn wanting my recipe for kitty stew for cats. I have never tried it but it did sound interesting. I found a few other recipes that cats might like, too. So here it is, the recipe for stew:
Almost-Spot’s Stew
1 whole chicken-preferably”free range” or packaged with no hormones or antibiotics on the label
2 cups brown rice
6 stalks celery
8 carrots, scrubbed but not peeled
2 or 3 yellow squash
1 small broccoli crown
handful of green beans
Wash chicken, then cover with water in a large stew pot. Cut vegetables into pieces and add to pot. Add rice. Cook until chicken almost falls off the bone and vegetables are tender. Completely debone chicken. This is extremely important, as cooked chicken bones can splinter and cause serious intestinal damage. Pour stew into a blender and blend or chop untill mixture is coarse(about bite sized). Freeze in medium sized plastic bags.
This sounds like alot of stew. I guess you could always cut the portions down and make a smaller pot of it. That’s probably why they suggest freezing it. I have another recipe for Tuna Diet. I don’t know any cat that doesn’t like tuna!
Tuna Diet
4 ounce can tuna, canned in water without added salt
1 large egg, hard boiled and chopped
1 Tbsp. canola oil
2 bonemeal tablets, crushed (10-grain or equivalent)
1 multiple vitamin-mineral tablet
Mix all ingredients well and serve immediately; or refrigerate. Warm slightly to “take the chill off”
I figure the vitamins are the ones for cats from your vet.
One of my grandcats hs kidney disease and has to live a low protein diet. He must be tired of KD food by now. Does anyone else live with this concern and are there any recipes out there to accomodate this need?
Sharon in Austell,
I seen a recipe for cats on special diets. I can try to find the recipe and maybe even the site’s address, if you’d like me to.
That would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Renee!
Susan,
I forgot to add I also have a recipe for “Kitty Breakfast”, if you or anybody else is interested. It sounds simple to fix, just like when I used to make egg omlets.
Renee, thank you for the recipes the one with the chicken and rice sounds so good I think Petey might have to fight me for some!
You are welcome Susan! Glad to help. These recipes were supposed to have been taken from a book for cats and dogs. I have never had a chance to see if the book is around this area but I can probably find the title and author, if you are interested.
I’m sorry but I barely have enough time to cook for myself, let alone my cats. If I’m makin’ stew, it’s for me!
To Chutes and Ladders, ooops, um… Stripes and Harmony, two peas in a pod. Did the idea of “Bone Thugs and Harmony” come into consideration when naming these two adorable bundles of joy!?
They are both adorable!
Harmony and Stripes
A dynamic duo
Seem as though
They’re stuck with glue-o.
Even better
I must say
Is that with their mom
They get to stay.
I would have to ask
Their humans proid
Does that trio
Ever get too loud?
Bill - you rock.
Great poem Bill. These babies are just too adorable for mere words. I am so glad they got to stay together with their mom. I am going to get a couple of kittens in a few months. I hope a black one chooses me. I’ll name him Crunchy Black. I don’t like rap music but I think Crunchy Black is the coolest name.
Bill - i just realized how my comment must have sounded. I didn’t mean your poem was “mere words”. I meant that my own pathetic poetic vocabulary couldn’t come up with words to describe these cuties. I think your poems are awesome!
no, they are way to cute for mere words! Every day I visit here, I am flabbergasted by how cute the kitten is. Then I come back the next day and see the next cutie. Words cannot express the overwhelming cuteness and adorability of kittens (or cats).
At any rate, no offense was noted or taken.
what sweet little faces, nicely sharing the cardboard box.
Sorry about the downtime. Kittens in the server room.
Kittenmaster, I added as some gentleman suggested last week the newest update to Windows it is called 7. Hopefully it will stop the print over.
That was me. It is Internet Exploerer 7, the newest version. I don’t have any problems with it overtyping and I use it, IE 6, Netscape, Opera and Firefox.
I do web design just in case you were thinking I was just a major geek.
Well….. OK, I’m that too
I appreciate the help I have had a puter for 7 years and I don’t do much on it but play Snnod and solitare and check email. This is the first blog thing I have ever done. Thank again.
Kittenmaster: get those kittens away from the cords and tell them to stop chewing on them. LOL!
Me thinks, mice, Kittenmaster!
Lovely kitties and and a nice way to start the week. I love it when people get to keep moma kit too.
Maybe Kittenmaster was playing with kittens in the server room? *wink wink*
Awwww, all tuckered out after an exausting round of Chutes & Ladders
LOVE THIER NAMES AND BLESS YOU FOR CARING FOR ALL 3 AND GIVING THEM A HOME. WAY TO GO COLTS. WOOWHO
Bored with the Board game FUZZ
Side by Side FUZZ
Double your pleasure, double your fun!
Ginny - if you’re out there, where in HI were you??
Lived in Aiea for a while, in ‘86 then on Hickam from 86-88. I enjoyed living there, except for the blatant anti-military bias and the cost of “getting off the rock.” Do miss going to Tamashiro’s for shave ice, Matsumoto’s for fresh fish, the Greek Island Taverna in Manoa for the bellydancing show, the luau at the Hale Koa in Waikiki, and Lahaina on Maui for the best sunsets!
:::whimpering despondently over the fate of her beloved Bears, yet cheered up by adorable kitties:::
Did any of you happen to turn on Animal Planet last night? They did something called the “Puppy Bowl”, which was basically 3 hours of footage of puppies running around a football-themed room full of toys. My favorite part, of course, was the “Kitty Halftime Show” where they brought out some ADORABLY precious kittens, put them on a little platform/stage/cat tree thing, gave them toys, and let them go to town! (My only worry, though, was that they had this tinselly-looking mylar curtain, and the kits kept chewing on it. I was practically yelling at the TV “Stop eating that!!”–force of habit from dealing with my Snick!!)
Anyway, congrats to the Colts…they were the better team last night. And congrats to the Chutes and Ladders FUZZ, for their forever home and their exceeding cuteness.
I did see both the kitty half time show and the puppy bowl. Me and my daughter were OHing and AHHHing for all of it. I loved them all, just so darn cute!
sleepy post game FUZZZ!
I saw the Puppy Bowl *raises hand*. My favorite part was the Kitty Halftime Show also. There was a lot of ‘awwwwwwwwwws’ during that at my house. I was worried about that tinsel looking stuff also. Those babies were absolutely adorable!!
Yes I saw that half time with the kittens, and I agree I kept saying do not chew the tinsle. I love the animal planet.
yes, yes, I saw the Puppy Bowl! The Kitty Halftime Show was the best part! My boyfriend thought I was silly for watching so much of it! haha
I was on at 7:30am trying to add my comment but kept getting the message the server was down.
I was going to add Double Trouble, Double Fun Fuzz but looks like I was already beaten to the punch. No worries. The tabby looks content but the black one looks it is saying, sheesh, I was here first and now the other one is squishing me out of the box. LOL! Happy Monday everyone.
Good for you, for adopting mum + kittens! Hope you’re all very happy together.
Oh, and they make an adorable lil’ couple of pals
Such sweet babies. Rescued kitties are the best.
Very cute! Looks like they’re getting ready for a game of chutes and ladders. Sorry, I’m not much of a poet (you rock, Bill), so I’ll have to go with another quote:
“Cats are like greatness: Some people are born into cat-loving families, some achieve cats and some have cats thrust upon them.”
William H.A. Carr
Very funny! My husband was of the latter of the three. He never owned cats before he met me, now he has cat hair all over him!
Hey Mike,
I am all three of those quotes!
Well, the PETA trial is over and the two employees who were picking up animals and euthanizing them in the truck and then dumping the bodies in a dumpster were found not guilty of animal cruelty.
They were only found guilty of littering. Each of them were given a 10 day suspended jail sentence, 12 month probation, 50 hours of community service and a $1,000 fina nd $3,000 in restitution.
Pathetically sad
NOT GUILTY? *rolls eyes*
That is such a crock! Most of those animals were adoptable and those two creeps and PETA never gave them a chance.
Part of the defense their lawyers used was that for the animal cruelty charges to apply their actuions would have had to be malicious in nature.
They argued that these two “acted out of love for animals”.
Geez, I think I can live without that kind of love myself
I hope their aged parents or their kids never get that type of love.
I was just thinking the same thing. I can’t believe they were not guilty!!! I’d love to get my hands on both of these jerks.
Pathetic ruling on the judge’s part. Must not like animals to rule in such a way. How is killing some adoptable pets not cruelty? I totally agree with “what a crock”!
if that is “love”, I surely do not want to see “hate”!
Gee, I wasn’t aware it was a couple employees. (in previous comments, I thought it was the whole organization. Sorry I misunderstood.) How truly disgusting! Their sentence is a joke!
I still will never support that organization.
I have a problem with PETA with their attacks on people wearing fur. I do not advocate wear fur coats but that is my choice it is not illegal to do so. They throw red paint on the fur coats and the person wearing them and then run away. That is a terroist attack and distruction of personal property.
Well, the strange part about it is that (when you read the court transcripts) PETA knew what they were doing because PETA provided the euthanasia kits to them and knew they were picking up animals.
Also, PETA hired lawyers to defend them and stood behind them through the whole thing which I can’t see them doing if they didn’t agree with what had been done.
So, I would say that in the end it is the whole organization because they approved of what these two employees did and they hired some very big guns to get them off
Peta is totally undeserving of the support of law abiding people. It is a group that thinks themselves above the law, and their actions tarnish the reputations and public perceptions of other, mainstream activist groups supporting animal rights and animal welfare. Actually, I’m glad they got the rotten press, maybe some people who might have donated to them, will switch to other organizations that are more law abiding.
I’ve never supported those nuts. When I saw what they were charged with I didn’t know whether to cry or throw up. they probably would support the euthanizing of the elderly and disabled if they ever turned their attention to people. Perish the thought. It makes me sick that they have all of those millions of dollars and legitimate shelters beg and borrow and scrimp along on a shoestring.
Stripes and Harmony are so cute! They look like they are ready to take a nap after playing so hard. Gameboard FUZZ!
So glad they all got to stay together with their mom. Cats are such a joy to be around.
How sweet these babies are! One fuzz on the look out while one gets to nap, sweet!
Glad they have a forever home and with mommycat too!
sweet! they get to stay buddies and stay with their mama!
*~Close The Blinds Fuzz~*
AHHH, they look like such content little babies - so glad they have a nice home with you!!
The little stripey one looks a lot like my Trixie, even the expression on the face! They are both such adorable little love muffins!
These two a very very cute. Glad mommykit got to stay with them too. Smoochies cuddles and kisses!!!
Please, someone tell me about fostering kitties. What do foster parents agree to do? Do they take care of neutering? Where can I learn more about this…
Thanks,
Liza
Liza, when I adopted Taffy the lady that was a foster mom worked with the Humane Society. She had ten kittens/cats at her home. Since the weather was nice she had them in a screened house in the yard that had all sorts of padded shelves on different levels. Hopefully some here that foster will see your post and answer if not call your local shelter.
You could email to Brittany (bmtiz92 at aim dot com) and ask her. She is a very nice girl and has experience in fostering.
You can also ask the local animal shelters. Usually they appreciate volunteers.
Yes, talk to your local shelters. They’re always desperately in need of fosters. Most of the time, when you foster, you just have to provide the love and time. The shelter covers food and veterinary costs. So, you get to love the animals without having the financial burden.
Hi Liza. Fostering is wonderful! I have fostered mother and kittens for The House of Mews and it was incredible. I would take home a mother cat and her new babies and keep them for 8 weeks, then deliver them back to House of Mews so they could be adopted. The great thing is you have them and get to play with them and then they are returned to a good shelter where homes will be found for them. The hard part is giving them up. I always wanted to keep them. My daughter kept me in line by reminding me if we had too many cats we wouldn’t have space to foster anymore. She would also remind me of my policy that a person should not have any more pets than they can provide quality food and excellent medical care and, most important, plenty of love and attention. Just keep telling yourself that.
Thanks to all you answered my questions. I’m still overseas with three cats of my own (all former street cats who have traveled to several different countries) but i’ll be returning to the states in august as a retiree and am looking for ways to help make the world a better place, little by little… this is one of my ideas…
Yay for the kitty family! It is great that you could give home to all three. The adorable siblings seem to enjoy their little box. - I wonder if there are any cats who wouldn’t like boxes???
I doubt there are any cats who don’t like boxes. Big, small, long, short - they love them all.
You should see Huddy’s 22 pound brother Sebastian try to get in the shoe boxes. The sides always collapse outwards - it looks like a cartoon. But it doesn’t stop him from trying, bless his heart.
Thanks for the vivid description! I was laughing out loud when I visualized the situation.
May have to get Sebastian a bigger box! lol
Purrs and head scratches to Huddy and Sebastian.
Sebastian might want one of my shoeboxes–they didn’t call me “Sasquatch” in college for nothin’!
Aww Sebastian…so you still think you are the size of a kitten. How cute! Now I have a funny visual of him trying.
Speaking of Brittany, did she get enough to cover Bo’s vet bills?
I ask her. I have been ebombing her address because of Bo.
Sleeping in a little box…
So cute
Awwwww cute furry friends
Two cute kitties with a sweet story. However, they seem to be ruining what could have been a perfectly nice game of “Chutes and Ladders.”
How nice that the little family of kitties could stay together!
They are adorable…
Where or where is Dee? Hope you are okay check in if you have time.
You read my mind . . . she hasn’t posted for a few days. Hope everything’s all right.
Dee doesn’t have a working puter at home so she is posting on the weekends but should of been back today.
I was wondering the same thing, where’s Dee?
Some of the regulars were missing today.
Hey there,
So far, 13 people have donated 275$!! This is almost enough to conver Bo’s entire vet bill, possibly with some left over (although we don’t know the final amount yet.) After Bo’s surgery, the stitches were so tight that they were pulling through the skin. Apparantly, he messed with the stitches and ripped them out and they had to re-do his surgery on Friday. He is doing good, but Mrs. Ginger is supposed to go see Bo tomorrow and i’ll know more then. I will let you all know more whenever I know anything else, sorry I haven’t kept all of you as updated as I should have.
Just wanted to give everybody a money update and a Bo update
Thanks again!
~Brittany
Sounds like Bo needs that lovely blue halo thingy that other kitten was wearing to keep him from messing with stitches. I keep saying a prayer that he will heal quickly.
These cats are the cutest cats I have seen inside a game box.
EW! They’re so cut they actually disgust me…wow
I meant cute
How Adorable!
