I think they pretty much do an awesome job of ‘grounding’ equipment these days. New technology and all that stuff.

I can remember long ago, concerts would be cancelled in the rain, but I’ve been to plenty where it was raining and raining HARD in the last 10 years or so.

The Woodlands hasn’t even cancelled a concert due to rain that I can remember.

Hi Susan,
How are you and Petey today? I read your post late yesterday about you and Lynn wanting my recipe for kitty stew for cats. I have never tried it but it did sound interesting. I found a few other recipes that cats might like, too. So here it is, the recipe for stew:

Almost-Spot’s Stew

1 whole chicken-preferably”free range” or packaged with no hormones or antibiotics on the label

2 cups brown rice
6 stalks celery
8 carrots, scrubbed but not peeled
2 or 3 yellow squash
1 small broccoli crown
handful of green beans

Wash chicken, then cover with water in a large stew pot. Cut vegetables into pieces and add to pot. Add rice. Cook until chicken almost falls off the bone and vegetables are tender. Completely debone chicken. This is extremely important, as cooked chicken bones can splinter and cause serious intestinal damage. Pour stew into a blender and blend or chop untill mixture is coarse(about bite sized). Freeze in medium sized plastic bags.

This sounds like alot of stew. I guess you could always cut the portions down and make a smaller pot of it. That’s probably why they suggest freezing it. I have another recipe for Tuna Diet. I don’t know any cat that doesn’t like tuna!

Tuna Diet

4 ounce can tuna, canned in water without added salt
1 large egg, hard boiled and chopped
1 Tbsp. canola oil
2 bonemeal tablets, crushed (10-grain or equivalent)
1 multiple vitamin-mineral tablet

Mix all ingredients well and serve immediately; or refrigerate. Warm slightly to “take the chill off”

I figure the vitamins are the ones for cats from your vet.

At any rate, no offense was noted or taken.

:::whimpering despondently over the fate of her beloved Bears, yet cheered up by adorable kitties:::
Did any of you happen to turn on Animal Planet last night? They did something called the “Puppy Bowl”, which was basically 3 hours of footage of puppies running around a football-themed room full of toys. My favorite part, of course, was the “Kitty Halftime Show” where they brought out some ADORABLY precious kittens, put them on a little platform/stage/cat tree thing, gave them toys, and let them go to town! (My only worry, though, was that they had this tinselly-looking mylar curtain, and the kits kept chewing on it. I was practically yelling at the TV “Stop eating that!!”–force of habit from dealing with my Snick!!)

Anyway, congrats to the Colts…they were the better team last night. And congrats to the Chutes and Ladders FUZZ, for their forever home and their exceeding cuteness. :)

Well, the PETA trial is over and the two employees who were picking up animals and euthanizing them in the truck and then dumping the bodies in a dumpster were found not guilty of animal cruelty.

They were only found guilty of littering. Each of them were given a 10 day suspended jail sentence, 12 month probation, 50 hours of community service and a $1,000 fina nd $3,000 in restitution.

Pathetically sad

Part of the defense their lawyers used was that for the animal cruelty charges to apply their actuions would have had to be malicious in nature.

I have a problem with PETA with their attacks on people wearing fur. I do not advocate wear fur coats but that is my choice it is not illegal to do so. They throw red paint on the fur coats and the person wearing them and then run away. That is a terroist attack and distruction of personal property.

Comment by Instinct
2007-02-06 13:05:18

Well, the strange part about it is that (when you read the court transcripts) PETA knew what they were doing because PETA provided the euthanasia kits to them and knew they were picking up animals.

Also, PETA hired lawyers to defend them and stood behind them through the whole thing which I can’t see them doing if they didn’t agree with what had been done.

So, I would say that in the end it is the whole organization because they approved of what these two employees did and they hired some very big guns to get them off

Peta is totally undeserving of the support of law abiding people. It is a group that thinks themselves above the law, and their actions tarnish the reputations and public perceptions of other, mainstream activist groups supporting animal rights and animal welfare. Actually, I’m glad they got the rotten press, maybe some people who might have donated to them, will switch to other organizations that are more law abiding.

When I saw what they were charged with I didn’t know whether to cry or throw up. they probably would support the euthanizing of the elderly and disabled if they ever turned their attention to people. Perish the thought. It makes me sick that they have all of those millions of dollars and legitimate shelters beg and borrow and scrimp along on a shoestring.

Since the weather was nice she had them in a screened house in the yard that had all sorts of padded shelves on different levels. Hopefully some here that foster will see your post and answer if not call your local shelter.

You can also ask the local animal shelters. Usually they appreciate volunteers.

Comment by Christie

Yes, talk to your local shelters. They’re always desperately in need of fosters. Most of the time, when you foster, you just have to provide the love and time. The shelter covers food and veterinary costs. So, you get to love the animals without having the financial burden.

Hi Liza. Fostering is wonderful! I have fostered mother and kittens for The House of Mews and it was incredible. I would take home a mother cat and her new babies and keep them for 8 weeks, then deliver them back to House of Mews so they could be adopted. The great thing is you have them and get to play with them and then they are returned to a good shelter where homes will be found for them. The hard part is giving them up. I always wanted to keep them. My daughter kept me in line by reminding me if we had too many cats we wouldn’t have space to foster anymore. She would also remind me of my policy that a person should not have any more pets than they can provide quality food and excellent medical care and, most important, plenty of love and attention. Just keep telling yourself that.

Hey there,
Just wanted to give everybody a money update and a Bo update :) So far, 13 people have donated 275$!! This is almost enough to conver Bo’s entire vet bill, possibly with some left over (although we don’t know the final amount yet.) After Bo’s surgery, the stitches were so tight that they were pulling through the skin. Apparantly, he messed with the stitches and ripped them out and they had to re-do his surgery on Friday. He is doing good, but Mrs. Ginger is supposed to go see Bo tomorrow and i’ll know more then. I will let you all know more whenever I know anything else, sorry I haven’t kept all of you as updated as I should have.
Thanks again!

Sounds like Bo needs that lovely blue halo thingy that other kitten was wearing to keep him from messing with stitches. I keep saying a prayer that he will heal quickly.

These cats are the cutest cats I have seen inside a game box.
