Digory and Lucy
Brother and sister, I got these two shortly after my beloved husband died. At six months now, Digory is gigantic and Lucy is still tiny but holds her own in the daily shenanigans.

What sweetie babies! and what a comfort for you!
Lucy looks like she’s thinking “Get off of me, big brother! I loves you, but get off of me!”
that’s just what i said when i saw them
They are beautiful! I can see even in this pic how little Lucy is getting squeezed out by big Digory.
My condolences on your husband.
Linda F.
Thank you! they are soooo amazingly cute! much peace and happiness to you all !!!!
I’m so sorry for your loss. Your babies are beautiful:)
Ditto to this comment sry about your loss and your cute new babies are reaally going to be fun they look like they get into alot of mischief have fun with them
Way way tooooo cute. They looks soooo soft & cuddly. I just want to tickle those fat bellies. Glad you have such little sweeties in your life after your husband.
A Chronicles of Narnia fan? Love those books. And your babies are sweet and beautiful, too - hope they are a comfort to you.
Please accept my condolences on the loss of your husband. I hope your kittens bring joy into your life. They are of course absolutely adorable and have such snuggleable bellies!
Hi there! very sorry to hear of your loss. A cats whiskers are very fine so that they can fit through the smallest crack in a broken heart. & what adorable whiskers they are to. I hope they are helping to fill a part of the sad gap in your life.I’d like to thank everyone for the warm welcome to the site that i recieved yesterday xxxxx
“A cat’s whiskers are very fine so that they can fit through the smallest crack in a broken heart” Perfect. Absolutely perfect.
Beautiful quote and so true.
Top of the morning to you Fiona. Welcome to TDK. This site will fill you with joy.
thanks Jennifer. i knew the quote went something like that!! Hey Karin what time is it there? 16.00 here- my day is nearly over so i get to go home to my kittys:-)
Right now it is 2:30pm here in California which means it is 8:30pm in Ireland. Oh well, I meant hello anyways. I am hoping to visit your fair country one of these days.
Oh Fiona, May I borrow that lovely phrase? A cat whiskers are very fine so that they fit through the smallest crack in a broken heart.” That is so true and so beautifully said - it brought tears to my eyes. Do we have an Irish poet amongst us?
I too am sorry for your loss. Fiona said it so beautifully so I can’t add anything there. To me Lucy looks like she is smiling and snuggling against her big bro. Very sweet picture. I am sure you will bring each other lots of joy. Always loved the idea of adopting siblings but never did. Watching them play must be better than watching TV.
Not my quote to lend im plagurising!! it is on a beautiful calender i have at home full of kittens im sure you can use it though!!!
Fiona, do you follow hurling? I am a big kilkenny cats fan. (follow on the internet)I was there in 2000 right at the end of the fall season and got hooked. Such a neat sport. (took me forever to figure out the scoring) I made it to Kilkenny a day or two after they won it all that year.
hi there. yes i follow hurling a small bit would be more into football though- that is gaelic football(all GAA sport really). i am from dublin and work here but live in a beautiful small village in county meath 1 hour away so am torn between supporting the two teams!! Did you stay long in ireland?
I’ve been there twice for a week each time. The first time I went from Dublin, down and around the coast to Bantry and then back across to Kilkenny and back to Dublin. (Love Trocadero restaurant BTW). Second time we started in Shannon and again did the southern Route to Dublin. I am of Irish ancestry and felt a wonderful connection to your beautiful country. Love the people, love the traditional music, love the land, love the food. Do you have a recipe for the pureed veggie soup I had in all the pubs over there? Or, the mushroom soup I found as often?
Every time I see any “travel” shows on Ireland, I am struck by the land’s lush beauty…
It is a great vacation and if you go in the off season the flight prices are really cheap. Late September is a wonderful time to go over. Its a great country to wander and stay the night wherever you happen to be. Most towns have a tourism office that will help you book a hotel for a very small fee. Or, you can go up to a hotel or bed and breakfast and ask what they have available. Worth planning a vacation.
I am of Irish ancestry to and find I have a “need” to visit Ireland. I am hoping to go sometime next year.
Wonderful quote — thanks for sharing! and welcome to TDK. I, too, was a lurker for several months before posting. Glad to have another cat lover.
Awesome quote! Welcome aboard!
One of the best cat quotes, ever!
i’m glad you got a warm welcome,I feel like I’m just talking to my self no-one even said sorry for my losses.
Virtual hugs to you! We have to face so many faiths every day that sometimes a help needer goes unnoticed. Take care!
So sorry for your loss.
I’m sure just looking at these beautiful babies makes you feel at least a little better. They’re adorable stripies.
My brown tabby kittens grew the same way. The boy is massive and the girl is tiny. She’s smarter and faster than him, though, so if he wants to rough her up she just smacks him between the eyes and runs away. Then she gets him back when he’s all unsuspecting.
I am sorry for you loss. Hopefully these two wonderful furry friends will provide you with some joy and warmth. Double trouble and double fun. Both seem to be smiling in their sleep.
The 2 show unconditional love for each other … and for you !
Condolences on the loss of your husband….
I am very sorry for the loss of your beloved husband. No one will ever replace him in your heart but our hearts are big and other loves can fit in there with him. Your kitties are adorable the pose is so funny. KItty fur absorbs tears very nicely hug them tight when you need to.
Susan, you guys are making me teary today. Don’t I know about “kitty fur absorbing tears very nicely” All of mine have done their fair share of absorbing through the years.
Your kitties look like they’re spooning!! I hope that they continue to dry tears and warm your heart long into the rest of your life when days/weeks/years are lonely. My darlings always know when I’m having a bad day and won’t leave me alone. Snuggles, cuddles, and gentle tickles to those soft tummies! I wonder what lovely lines of prose Ivory Bill will have for us later today.
Here’s the update on my husband, he does have stage 2 cancer so he will have to undergo chemotherapy. He’s slowly recovering from surgery and I’m happy to see him take it easy. He loves to ‘bellyache’ and demands nursing. Thank goodness I’m a nursing student!!
so sorry about your husband as a nurse i know it is always hardest when it is your own thank god for kittycats they are great listeners and a great comfort
Tiger, I am sorry to hear of the latest news on your husband. I hope that the chemo goes well for him and he fully recovers very soon. You both are in my prayers. Hang in there.
Good luck to you and your husband, Tiger. Sending good thoughts your way…
Me as well, Tiger! Think positive hope you have lots of support and try to find things to laugh about. I really believe in the healing power of laughter and kitty snuggling!
What kind of chemo are they suggesting? I’m on a second type with mine. If he wants to share stories I’m here.
Hi Tiger, thanks for the update,I was wondering. Here’s hope and prayers that the chemo does its work and your husband has a complete recovery. We’re here for you.
Good luck to your hubby, Tiger! The good thing is that these days the treatments are more tolerable, and good outcomes are very frequent. All the best to both of you!
Thank you for the update on your husband Tiger. I hope the chemo helps heal him quickly. I will say a prayer for you and him.
OHHHH!!! Sweet babies! I had two brothers that did that all the time, even with the one being bigger than the other. I just love when litter mates stay together.
I, too, have a brother and sister that were given to me for my birthday last year. They both have variations on the tuxedo coloring and are very different in both temperment and size! My guy is a lot bigger than his sister but she can certainly hold her own when they wrestle. Siblings are great to have together because they are already friends and companions.
Hey Barb, What part of NM do you live in? I grew up there so curiosity is getting the better of me.
My cat Sylvester is a tuxedo. I wanted to adopt him and his sister but unfortunately his sister was adopted before I could get there. He seems to be okay with being an “only” kitty but have thought of adopting another female tuxedo from time to time.
Karin–I’m sure you know this, but I can tell you from first hand (awful) experience that if you would like to get Sylvester a playmate, to not wait until he is an “old” kitty. Atticus came into my life when Juliet was 18. I had to keep them separated for the last year of her life. She HATED Atticus. She hissed even if she saw his paw under the door trying to playfully touch her!
How many time a week do I say ” what a cutie ” at this sight? ENDLESs! These two are great. My kitties sleep with us, sometimes they sleep in the same positions we do.
Here’s some advice for Lucy, if you’re sitting on the edge of the bed, do NOT pick a fight with your brother.
Jason, were you peeking in our window when my big bro and I were kids? He is six years older than me I had to learn to fight sneaky and I was good. We poor abused little sisters are always getting picked on. That’s my story and I am sticking to it!
“We poor abused little sisters are always getting picked on.” I couldn’t agree more! I have three older brothers and one of them did push me off the bed. I still have the scar from the stitches to prove it
As for fighting sneaky, lets just say that SOMEHOW Mom always knew when they did something wrong
Well, I have an older sister no brothers and she more than made up for picking on me when I was little. One time she accidentally banged my nose by opening one the drawers in a ship’s bed that we had. I had a nice red dot on the bridge of my nose and now have a nose that grew slightly off center. oh well.
Actually I was thinking of my cats. Sarge (the older one) would like to groom Lena (the younger one) and she’d pick a fight with him as he was doing it. Despite their size and age differences, they start fights equally.
well-I am the only girl with 5 brothers……….
They look as content as 2 kitties can be. So cute.
Fiona, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I lost my husband at a very young age and, somehow, the cat we had seemed to understand and she was always willing to let me cry all over her lovely, soft fur. I hope you have many happy years with your adorable babies.
hi tessa, i do have a kitten called lucy but thats not her!!! i didnt post these adorable pair(im not even married!!) thank you for your lovely message though im sure whoever did post todays kitties will appreciate it:-)
Awww, “siamese” twin kitties. They are very precious. And I am sure no matter what is going on in your life, they are able to nose in and try to help you feel better as best they can.
These 2 are as precious as all get out! My 2 sleep like this too. My boy is also the bigger of the two. But Lady can outrun “Fat boy” any day of the week! Best of luck with your new fuzz babies and accept my deepest sympathy for your loss.
That’s a bit mean of you glueing them to the ceiling…
LOL, now that was funny
:):)
I too am sorry for your loss. It is like there is a whole where that follows you around. It sometimes takes a long while not to notice it, but these precious two will play right through and teach you how to smile again, I’m sure. For the life of me, that Digory looks like he’s doing a cannon ball right on Lucy’s nap! How sweet they are, there are two very lovely blessing to count!
Your babies are such sweethearts! My baby just turned 6 months a few days ago! I know how much he brings joy to my life and you have that times two. How wonderful!
What beautiful babies!! I’m a wee bit partial to the tigers…oh so very cute! I know they have brought smiles to your face following a difficult time.
God bless!
OMG! such sweetness! This brother and sister pair just made my day soooo much better.
SNUGGLE FUZZZ!
Spooning FUZZZZ!
My daughter had brother and sister kitties and it was the same thing, big brother and little sister. Now her male, Pumpkin, is 18 pounds and the female, Spice, is 9 pounds. Digory looks like he loves Lucy in a big way he just doen’t know his size.
“The cat pretends to sleep, the better to see. –Francois-Auguste Rene de Chateaubriand”
Wow a poet and had time to invent the expensive dinner for two!
interesting article!

Well, I guess that proves the saying we had in the Navy - “A b****ing sailor is a happy sailor”
Make sense though
Oh, and good afternoon Dee. I still need to post my lemon bars.
Good article! I get called “Crabby Pants” quite a bit. Guess that means I am doing pretty good here!!!
I was wondering why I got that big raise!!
Interesting and strange article. I find most of my coworkers who are grumpy bears are the ones that I don’t want to deal with so I do not understand how they can be considered good employees. We have a grumpy receptionist here at work who I would say needs an attitude adjustment. As the article says, I guess it is all in the job they have to do as to what is consider acceptable.
Well, I have finally decided to comment on a kitty photo. I have been “lurking” also for months. These babies really got to me. Today is my deceased husband’s birthday. He died more than four years ago now and I still miss him every day. We were married for 38 years. I am so sorry for your loss. Your babies will help you get through this tough time. My cat Loco was never closer to me after Jim’s passing. That’s Loco, short for Locomotive. That’s how loud her purr was as a tiny kitten. I have recently added a new kitten to my household, El Cee. Her sister, Noisy, belongs to my wonderful boyfriend. We get them together often and they have a ball. Thanks for all the wonderful photos and comments here. Sometimes they just make my day.
So happy you’ve joined us, Linda–and I’ll bet that today your husband is eating his favorite birthday cake in Heaven–(I’ll even bet he had something to do with your joining us after a few months…) We look forward to chatting with you!
I still wish my mama a Happy Birthday in Heaven each year. She is the one who taught us the poem we say after we sing Happy Birthday.
Many Happy Returns of The Day of Thy Birth - Many Seasons of Joy Be Given - May God in His Goodness Prepare You For a Beautiful Birthday in Heaven.
author unknown - We have been saying it before I was born my bro remembers it from when he was little and he is older than dirt.
That’s so nice, Susan.
Susan, your brother is gonna get you for that!
Na, he doesn’t visit here but I am might tell him anyway!
Oh would I love to have you all talk to my grief support group! I am a firm believer that a pet will help you through the bad times, I have a dog and a cat. There is always one to meet me at the door, I’m never alone and the unconditional love they provide will heal any heart. Plus, we are told that we should find something to give us a smile or laugh each day, my two keep a smile on my face all day.
Keep up the good work, I love the site and love all the darling kittens, don’t tell my dog but I’ve always been a cat person. (but I love her too).
Pets are always willing to listen to our troubles and they never tell anyone our secrets.
Welcome to the site, Linda. I hope you’ll find comfort and happiness among us. Glad you have fur babies to comfort you and a new friend in your life. You never forget, but time eases the pain. Talk with you soon.
Welcome Linda!
I love the name of your kitty Loco (Locomotive). There is nothing like the sound of a kitty purring. It is a very soothing sound.
Isn’t this great?
Mankind’s true moral test, its fundamental test (which lies deeply buried from view), consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy: animals. And in this respect mankind has suffered a fundamental debacle, a debacle so fundamental that all others stem from it.
— Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of Being
That is so true. There was a lovely column yesterday by one of my favorite Plain Dealer columnists about just this issue. Here’s the link if you’d like to check it out:

That was great. Thank you for sharing.
Oh, that “She misses the music” part really got to me! Great article.

So much for being unique when I changed my cat’s name from the shelter’s name of Isabel to the #1 on the list - Chloe ! She’s still unique to me
Well, I am surprised that the name Whiskers didn’t make the tope cat names. I named my first cat Whiskers because she didn’t have much fur on her and it looked like lots of whiskers on her (poor thing). She grew to have the softest fur I have ever touched.
My condolences regarding your husband. I am glad you found 2 buddies to keep you company! They will give you alot of good memories and love
Enjoy your furry babies!
It’s bad joke time to bring a little laughter into your day:
Why are Elephants large, grey and wrinkled??
Because if they were small white and smooth they would be aspirins
Oh, boy, that was a good one!
That was too funny! I have a book of 101 Elephant jokes from my early teens. Here’s one for you:
It was Saturday morning and Jake, an avid hunter, woke up ready to go bag the first deer of the season. He walks down to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee, and to his surprise he finds his wife, Alice, sitting there, fully dressed in camouflage. Jake asks her, ?What are you up to?? Alice smiles, ?I’m going hunting with you!? Jake, though he has many reservations, reluctantly decides to take her along.
They arrive at the hunting site. Jake sets his wife safely up in the tree stand and tells her: ?If you see a deer, take careful aim on it and I’ll come running back as soon as I hear the shot.? Jake walks away with a smile on his face knowing that Alice couldn’t bag an elephant — much less a deer.
But not 10 minutes pass when he is startled as he hears an array of gunshots. Quickly, Jake starts running back. As Jake gets closer to her stand, he hears Alice screaming, ?Get away from my deer!? Confused, Jake races faster towards his screaming wife. And again he hears her yell, ?Get away from my deer!? followed by another volley of gunfire.
Now within sight of where he had left his wife, Jake is surprised to see a cowboy, with his hands high in the air. The cowboy, obviously distraught, says, ?Okay, lady, okay! You can have your deer! Just let me get my saddle off it!?
That is Hilarious, I’ll have to tell my Father-in-law that one, he is an avid deer hunter.
My goofy brother-in-law has about 320984713298571982374 elephant jokes that he’s memorized over the years. Every time I see him, I swear he tells me elephant jokes I’ve never ever heard from him or anybody else. They are so stupid, but funny-stupid, if that makes sense.
Perfect sense!
Why did the elephant cross the road?
It was the chicken’s day off
Why did the chicken cross the road?
To show the squirrel and possum it could be done.
(If you’re in Tx or Fl I guess that’s armadillo.)
In Chicago’s south suburbs, it’d be skunk…
Funny stupid jokes are also known as slapstick jokes. Like the jokes in the movie Airplane. “Surely you can fly the plane…yes, but don’t call me Shirley”.
One of the best movies………………….EVER. Ok I have a goofy sense of humor.
