Oh Fiona, May I borrow that lovely phrase? A cat whiskers are very fine so that they fit through the smallest crack in a broken heart.” That is so true and so beautifully said - it brought tears to my eyes. Do we have an Irish poet amongst us?

I too am sorry for your loss. Fiona said it so beautifully so I can’t add anything there. To me Lucy looks like she is smiling and snuggling against her big bro. Very sweet picture. I am sure you will bring each other lots of joy. Always loved the idea of adopting siblings but never did. Watching them play must be better than watching TV.

Fiona, do you follow hurling? I am a big kilkenny cats fan. (follow on the internet)I was there in 2000 right at the end of the fall season and got hooked. Such a neat sport. (took me forever to figure out the scoring) I made it to Kilkenny a day or two after they won it all that year.

I’ve been there twice for a week each time. The first time I went from Dublin, down and around the coast to Bantry and then back across to Kilkenny and back to Dublin. (Love Trocadero restaurant BTW). Second time we started in Shannon and again did the southern Route to Dublin. I am of Irish ancestry and felt a wonderful connection to your beautiful country. Love the people, love the traditional music, love the land, love the food. Do you have a recipe for the pureed veggie soup I had in all the pubs over there? Or, the mushroom soup I found as often?

It is a great vacation and if you go in the off season the flight prices are really cheap. Late September is a wonderful time to go over. Its a great country to wander and stay the night wherever you happen to be. Most towns have a tourism office that will help you book a hotel for a very small fee. Or, you can go up to a hotel or bed and breakfast and ask what they have available. Worth planning a vacation.

My brown tabby kittens grew the same way. The boy is massive and the girl is tiny. She’s smarter and faster than him, though, so if he wants to rough her up she just smacks him between the eyes and runs away. Then she gets him back when he’s all unsuspecting.

I, too, have a brother and sister that were given to me for my birthday last year. They both have variations on the tuxedo coloring and are very different in both temperment and size! My guy is a lot bigger than his sister but she can certainly hold her own when they wrestle. Siblings are great to have together because they are already friends and companions.

Karin–I’m sure you know this, but I can tell you from first hand (awful) experience that if you would like to get Sylvester a playmate, to not wait until he is an “old” kitty. Atticus came into my life when Juliet was 18. I had to keep them separated for the last year of her life. She HATED Atticus. She hissed even if she saw his paw under the door trying to playfully touch her!

Well, I have an older sister no brothers and she more than made up for picking on me when I was little. One time she accidentally banged my nose by opening one the drawers in a ship’s bed that we had. I had a nice red dot on the bridge of my nose and now have a nose that grew slightly off center. oh well.

Actually I was thinking of my cats. Sarge (the older one) would like to groom Lena (the younger one) and she’d pick a fight with him as he was doing it. Despite their size and age differences, they start fights equally.

Well, I have finally decided to comment on a kitty photo. I have been “lurking” also for months. These babies really got to me. Today is my deceased husband’s birthday. He died more than four years ago now and I still miss him every day. We were married for 38 years. I am so sorry for your loss. Your babies will help you get through this tough time. My cat Loco was never closer to me after Jim’s passing. That’s Loco, short for Locomotive. That’s how loud her purr was as a tiny kitten. I have recently added a new kitten to my household, El Cee. Her sister, Noisy, belongs to my wonderful boyfriend. We get them together often and they have a ball. Thanks for all the wonderful photos and comments here. Sometimes they just make my day.

It’s bad joke time to bring a little laughter into your day:

Why are Elephants large, grey and wrinkled??

Because if they were small white and smooth they would be aspirins

That was too funny! I have a book of 101 Elephant jokes from my early teens. Here’s one for you:
It was Saturday morning and Jake, an avid hunter, woke up ready to go bag the first deer of the season. He walks down to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee, and to his surprise he finds his wife, Alice, sitting there, fully dressed in camouflage. Jake asks her, ?What are you up to?? Alice smiles, ?I’m going hunting with you!? Jake, though he has many reservations, reluctantly decides to take her along.
They arrive at the hunting site. Jake sets his wife safely up in the tree stand and tells her: ?If you see a deer, take careful aim on it and I’ll come running back as soon as I hear the shot.? Jake walks away with a smile on his face knowing that Alice couldn’t bag an elephant — much less a deer.

But not 10 minutes pass when he is startled as he hears an array of gunshots. Quickly, Jake starts running back. As Jake gets closer to her stand, he hears Alice screaming, ?Get away from my deer!? Confused, Jake races faster towards his screaming wife. And again he hears her yell, ?Get away from my deer!? followed by another volley of gunfire.

Now within sight of where he had left his wife, Jake is surprised to see a cowboy, with his hands high in the air. The cowboy, obviously distraught, says, ?Okay, lady, okay! You can have your deer! Just let me get my saddle off it!?

That is Hilarious, I’ll have to tell my Father-in-law that one, he is an avid deer hunter.

My goofy brother-in-law has about 320984713298571982374 elephant jokes that he’s memorized over the years. Every time I see him, I swear he tells me elephant jokes I’ve never ever heard from him or anybody else. They are so stupid, but funny-stupid, if that makes sense.

Why did the elephant cross the road?

It was the chicken’s day off

Why did the chicken cross the road?

To show the squirrel and possum it could be done.
(If you’re in Tx or Fl I guess that’s armadillo.)

Funny stupid jokes are also known as slapstick jokes. Like the jokes in the movie Airplane. “Surely you can fly the plane…yes, but don’t call me Shirley”.
