Horatio

HoratioHoratio was one of three kittens left at our Animal Shelter. He was the sole survivor and after having been treated for an upper respiratory infection he went into foster care. His foster dad said all he could say was ME! It was definitely all about him. He can now say meow and shares his life with his new mom and brother.

I received a call that my little guy was on this web site. The comments are great! Actually the name Horatio was given to him by his foster home who took great care of him. His name that he was given when he was put up for adoption is Squash and that is what we call him. Little Squash just came home from the vet today and has a clean bill of health. He is gaining weight and growing. In this picture the marks on his face are from ring worm and it has completely healed. I am so lucky to have gotten him and that is thanks to all the great care he received! He is all kitten. He is funny and he has a motor that doesn’t quit!!!!!!

My Chester (now about 2-1/2) is an all-orange tabby, and polydactyl, to boot (26 toes altogther, 7 each in front, 6 each in back), and he is without a doubt the most affectionate, eager-to-please cat, constantly purring or talking, loves to play fetch with little foam rubber balls. I can’t even get to sleep anymore until he assumes his usual position on the comforter.

Booger must share the bed with us, too. He prefers to sleep in that warm comforter valley between us. When one of our other cats has already claimed this “primo” position, he gets distressed until I make room for him in the crook of my arm. Booger also loves to help me change TV channels by biting the remote and do crossword puzzles by biting the pen. My little helper cat.

My orangie has a stubb tail and he’s the sweetest ever! In constant need of petting and he drools like crazy when you do. He wakes me up for his breakfast by sitting next to my head and purring loudly.

We used to feed a stray orange boy years and years ago when my daughter was young. We weren’t allowed to have pets in the apartment but everybody adoped this cat and all the little girls named him Custard, after Strawberry Shortcake’s cat. I did used to sneak him into my apartment when it got cold outside, but the next morning, he wanted to go out. Then we moved and I lost track of him.

AHHHHHH!!!!! HE looks like my Tiger! Only much younger! I wish I knew Tiger as a kitten. Horatio is so sweet!

Cats and funny habits. I’ve been wondering about this for awhile. My Tiger, who I’ve had since August and is 7 years old, goes to use the litter box withing 5 minutes of me getting home. Now, I’m sure he uses it throughout the day, but it never fails, as soon as I get home and pet him and then put my things down, he goes to the litterbox. Does anyone have any clue about why this may be?

Comment by Huddy's Mama

They ARE creatures of habit. Everytime I go to get the scooper to clean out the litter box, Huddy suddenly has to ‘go’ and makes me wait until he’s done.

Well mine are toilet trained. Ok, the eldest is trained, the younger is learning slowly. He has to come and get me when he needs to go. He will not poop until I am watching him and telling him what a good boy he is. I suppose that is better than using the floor and I can flush the mess immediately.

Comment by CatRancher from Iowa

My Romeo always suddenly needs to use his favorite litterbox when he sees me going to it with a scoop. Juliette wants her favorite one right after I scoop it. Annie likes her box very clean. If I forget to scoop it soon enough she will stand on the outside of the box and “stir” the litter around while glaring accusingly at me. Before she decided she wanted to live in my bedroom with the door closed (she’s scared of Romeo) she would go to each litter box and if the cat who had used it had not covered his/her mess well enough Annie would finish the job. Condsidering she spent her first 1 1/2 to 2 years outside I find this really weird. When I rescued her from our parking lot at work last year it was obvious she had never been in a house. It was fascinating to watch her discover things and sometimes sad to see her get scared of things like the dishwasher or washing machine.

I, too, have a pair of “the-box-just-got-cleaned, race-to-poop” cats–but I also have the Poopervisor, Snick. He stands outside (or, in case of the covered box, on top of) any litterbox in use, just to make sure that everything is going on as it should. Then he goes in and does cover-up duty–which is a blessing, in the case of my roommate’s cat, who has scary kitty-funk. :) Neither the roomie nor myself can figure out why, exactly, Snick has taken on the role of Poopervisor–whatever floats his boat, is what we figure.

Susan,
You have the same set up as me. I have windows xp and I have “bookmarks” as well. It is on my toolbar, near the top. I was investigating it, I have never used it but it seems as easy to use as “my favorites”. You can use “favorites” at the top of your toolbar(marked with a yellow star). When I use” favorites”, I go to the site you want, once there, click on favorites, a box will appear to your left and there will be an “add” and an “organize” at the top of the box. Click “add”, then look and your web address that you wanted entered will be there. To get rid of the small box just click the little black “x” in the small box. Next time you want to visit a most used site, just click on “favorites” and all your most visited sites that you have saved will appear. Pick one and “click” with your mouse. It saves typing in the adress everytime. The website address you want to save, has to be in your address box on your toolbar, at the top. I know this seems like alot of explaining, for something so simple. I like to be thorough. I hope this helps.

Susan in GA,
I write down each kitten of the day and put a comment by them, in case there is any website, whether it be for food or news item, like Dee posts. That way, I can enter the info on TDK’s search box and bring it back up. I haven’t tried it yet but I know I can bring up past daily kittens on it.

Thanks Fiona! I want to try the ham and corn chowder on that page also. I love soup and thanks for the new recipes!

Horatio is so cute, but I don’t want to see him crying. Makes me want to scoop him up and hug and squeeze him. I’m glad he found a forever home.

Horatio is so cute. It does look like he is crying. Maybe he is crying for joy now he has a good home.

Dee, I was playing around in the kitchen and came up with a really good cheesy pasta sauce for Ravioli.

Mozzarella pasta sauce

2 tablespoons butter
minced garlic
2 tablespoons flour
2 cups chicken broth (could use vegetable stock)
1 cup of mozzarella cheese
½ cup parmesean cheese
½ cup half and half
basil and oregano

Melt butter over medium heat and sauté garlic until tender. (if you want chicken or shrimp in the sauce, sauté in garlic butter until done and then set aside)
Add flour to melted butter and stir until flour starts to brown. (a Roux) May form a soft ball.
Add chicken broth and stir until smooth and all lumps are out. Simmer for 10 munutes.
Add cheese a little at a time until melted and simmer until well incorporated. Stir frequently
Add half and half and herbs.
Pour over cooked, hot pasta.

I’m so happy Horatio was rescued and loved back to health. He will bring lots of furry love to his new mom & brother. He’s a little cutiepie.
