Maui and Tiki Maui and Tiki are two foster kittens that we took in but never let go. They put us up to seven cats of our own now. In this picture they are still at the shelter. They are about six weeks old here. They are now eight months old and going strong. Maui thinks that he has to sit on your shoulder all the time and will climb you or make a flying leap if he cannot climb you.

Hanzo, Ichi, and Yuki are Japanese, Pele and Lono are Hawaiian and Maui and Tiki you know are Polynesian. People are afraid of what we will name human kids if we ever have them LOL

I adopted a 4 wk old grey kitten about 6 months ago and she also insists on sitting on my shoulder. Her name is Allie and looks just like Maui and Tiki. Also my son had a grey who looked like ours who was a shoulder sitter also. I thought Allie liked to “perch” because she was kept in the exotic bird room at the pet store and the parrots taught her how…..

What part of CO are you in MerD? I live in Denver.
I also have a grey kitty ……..Benjamin. He is about 5 now and very independent and “HE man” like. But he cuddles with me now and again. Very big and strong that one! He off sets my older kitty ..Sam. Who is and always has been a very gentel and loving kitty. He is ginger colored.
Anyway these guys are sweet as can be and my hat is off to anyone who can foster…………..I”d want to keep them all!

Where can I get a back pack for the kitties I want to keep? LOL

Oh! I think the best way to “get known” on this site is to introduce yourself as new to the site! TDK is growing so quickly, it’s difficult to know if a post is from someone who posts very infrequently (and would like to keep it that way), or someone who would like to be more “vocal”. It’s kind of like going to a party–you have to mingle to make friends! And we all have to tell CatRancher and Susan in Ga to take the lampshade of their head!

Here, here, now…what’s all this S E X talk…stop it! Oh, BTW, Kate, isn’t it true that testosterone gives both males AND females their sex drive? Also, I heard that if you give the hormone secreting by the pituitary when a mother is breast-feeding to a rooster….he will sit on the eggs! I can’t remember the name of that hormone…women have a TON of hormones….I know there are a few that I miss… *sigh*

that might by it… I’ve heard it referred to as the “nurturing” hormone. They say that is one of the reasons that breast-feeding is recommended because it releases this powerful hormone and the bonding between mother and child…

Hi Christie, Getting another kitty is fantastic but it can also be a very stressful experience, I know. The intro is very important. Your Bogey might get mad at you and never let you forget it. So I hope you know the drill about introducing a new member to the family. SEPARATE LIVING arrangements until they are ready. Most definitely extra loving to Bogey. Good luck and keep us posted.

I would love it if I could train mine to use the toilet, but I always thought it would take more time than I have. How hard is it to train them?

    [+] Comment by MeezerMama [p]
    2007-02-16 22:27:01

That all depends on the cat. Emerson was easy. I set the litter box on the toilet. One he was used to jumping up there, I put an aluminum roasting pan in the toilet with litter in it. Once he got used to that, I cut a very small hole in the pan. As he got used to that, I gradually increased the hole size. Eventually I was able to remove the pan and he was toilet trained. No more mess or smell. Ferrule, the kitten, has not been quite so easy.
