Location: Plymouth, UK Aurora is a eight week old Turkish Van kitten with grand ideas. She jumped in to her mum’s trophy and would not let either of her brothers in.
Well i went to the mailbox last night and fell again, its like living in the artic around here…………..it warms up today so I hope the ice goes away!!!! busy today training customers so will be back later Hugs all
Good idea Susan. A very thick pillow! lol
How are you today? Thanks for the offer yesterday, to be my wind break! That wind was a bit biting out of the Southeast but I still had fun with my babies.
I am doing a bit better today thank you for asking. I went to the doctor this morning for the A1C blood work and I am on new pain pill that works well for diabetics. I had asked for Darvcett and he said that is three steps down from what I had been taking.
One of my current kitties is a silver-shaded American shorthair. I admit, I gave in and wanted one of these because they were just so beautiful and adorable, and a friend was breeding them to raise money for college. I am very glad to have my Hermes now, but the next time I’m in the market for kitties, I’ll go back to rescue cats. -All- of my previous kitties were rescue kitties. My first one really -was- a rescue, he was a stray one of my friends found, brought him to school, and I fell in love with the little fart. Had to bring him home, and he was my little boy for almost fifteen years. I don’t regret my purchase of Hermes, I supported a friend in need and she stopped breeding after Hermes’ litter, so I feel very special and very lucky to have my silver boy, because he was wanted before he was even conceived! I watched mommy kitty get bigger and bigger, and I was there when Hermes and his brothers were born. I watched them grow daily, and I had a chance to play with all of them when they were at their very cutest. Hermes has a step-sister, Tansey, who was adopted from Kalamazoo Animal Rescue. Tansey’s 14 and a muted tortie, Hermes is 3, and they play together wonderfully. So I have dark kitty hair for all my light clothing, and light kitty hair for all the dark clothing!
Now that has to be an oxymoran…cats in the water! I would like to see them take a bath and see if they like it. I bet they are loads of fun. Triple the fun.
Hi Rainingwolf,
Hope you are well today. My Max loved water, where the rest of my cats did not! He was a little ginger manx kitten, with the cutest little stubby tail, that my husband brought home to me, one day from work. Alas, he has since passed over to the Rainbow bridge, several years ago. He was such a lovebug. My hubby came home and said, I brought something for you, come upstairs and see it. I did and he put the cutest little kitten in my lap!
Hello Instinct
I was just wondering if that’s baseball or what as I know very little about sport - I can then look them up online. This is the only site i’ve ever posted on and one of the reasons I like it is that I find things out that wouldn’t otherwise come my way.
Dallas Cowboys. They play football. After pondering “sports Cowboys” for a while, my brain remembered the phrase “Dallas Cowboys”. I was pretty sure they played football, but googled ‘em to make sure. I’m a baseball fan, myself.
Well, being as we’re Redskins fans in our house, I may pull a face or two. Just kidding! I WILL make the Cowboy Coffee Cake, I’ll just leave out the “Cowboy” part when I serve it to my husband.
Good morning all, I am a Eagles Fan myself and that said, WW3 could erupt here soon! Cowboys, Redskins, Eagles. Will try the coffee cake anyway, Instinct, sounds Yummy!
Prizewinning Fuzz!! *snuggles aurora and her brothers and puts them in backpack!!) At least til Huddy’s Mama comes for them!
Good Evening All….missed everyone this morning….these are some real cuties….and to all the football people out there….the only good team is…..THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES….:)
Hope all of you had a great day!
It’s called cowboy coffee cake because the cook with the chuckwagon could make it over a camp fire while out on the round-up. To make cowboy coffee, you just put some coffee grounds in a pan of water and let it cook for a little bit.
Thanks for that, Instinct. I assume that the liquid ingredients go in with the baking powder, soda and spices? Your procedure doesn’t say. Do you think buttermilk would work as well as sour milk?
You can use lemon juice too. Put in two tablespoons into the measuring cup and add milk to make the required amount. Let it sit for a few minutes to sour.
Sounds good, but I was hoping for a really cowboy (not a sport cowboy, a Roy Rogers type cowboy…well, okay, Roy Rogers wasn’t a REALLY cowboy either, but you know what I mean!) to enter into the recipe somewhere. Sigh. My hopes have been dashed. Cake still sounds wonderful, though. This recipe’s a keeper.
And as for Miss Bestest Kitten of 2007, she’s a darling. And I love the way her brothers are posing so photogenically on either side of her. I think the one on the left was voted Mr. Congeniality.
Instinct it sounds wonderful but please explain what sour milk is. I know half and half, sweet milk and cream even butter milk but I have never heard of sour milk.
by putting the vinegar into your milk it turns it sour and ups the acidity. Good for helping the rise of the bread and also adding a tang to the coffee cake
Instinct: Now I know why you like coming here everyday; so many girls fawning over you! haha! Like the only brother in a family of girls, we all gather round you.
Adorable, especially Aurora (I love her name. It was my beloved mom’s name.)
Good morning Tiger, Bumblebee, BraniLee and everyone.
Hey kittenmaster
Hope you all have a wonderful day
Now that being said, I have yet to hear of this breed, Turkish Van kitten. Precious and curious too! Kisses to your brood…
I just want to make my own observations about recent postings from Catman and AG. When someone makes a request to change the way things are posted here, let’s try to have some courtesty and politeness when addressing them. We are so quick to form a mob or posse and hunt these offenders down when all they did was post a modest and not uncommon request. I almost am ashamed by how vehemently we oppose someone coming in and posting their opinions. Heaven forbid they be opposite from the majority. I just hope that we don’t chase off some that don’t post but might now see TDK as some strange cat clique that doesn’t like new ideas or points of view. (((sigh))) I would hope that we welcome (even reluctantly) new members that might just be getting used to us all weirdos.
I think a few recipes sprinkled here and there are okay but not a dozen daily. I love the wallpaper tips though. Hopefully I won’t need to use them any time soon.
Agreed, Tiger. This is exactly what I was trying to say yesterday. Always treat other readers as you’d like to be treated yourself, even if you’re not happy with what they might have to say.
So…… I am collecting all of the reciepes, and am considering the idea of the TDK Cook book. I would like to make it free to everyone, so it would have to be online. still kicking around ideas in my head. I will create a new email account first so I will give more info later, but any suggestion is appreciated.
I just came upon the kitten page…I recipie book sounds wonderful, perhaps, some good lowfat type, since I had 2 heartattacks in April finding “good stuff” to eat is hard to do.
I live in Iowa, by the way
Yes it was, I didn’t know I had, one, but the second one was considered “moderate”, and scary. But the worse part was losing my beloved “puppy” TedEbear, just one month following my heartattacks. Here is the link to his story for anyone who wants to read it. He was so special! I started a diary on this page also, with a poem I wrote about his life. http://www.dogster.com/dogs/437077.

Brandi Lee,
How are the Boo Boo’s coming along??? I hope so much better!
Well i went to the mailbox last night and fell again, its like living in the artic around here…………..it warms up today so I hope the ice goes away!!!! busy today training customers so will be back later Hugs all
Hope you are feeling OK. Thank God the ice will soon be melting (45 Fahrenheit would seem tropical after the kind of February we’ve had).
Brandi Lee you need to strap a pillow on to your tush take care friend.
Good idea Susan. A very thick pillow! lol

Brandi Lee, I think you need to put pillows on your tush and knees or maybe put on some skates.
Sorry for your bruises.
thanks
am staying indoors all day to prevent further humiliation

Very cute - my domestic cat is a Turkish Van - same colorings - just not pure bred. Please don’t breed animals.
One of my current kitties is a silver-shaded American shorthair. I have the same. it’s so funny the dark kitty is on all the light clothes and the light kitty is on the black clothes.
these three are the sooo sweet looking!
Morning! Those Turkish Vans are so pretty! And I hear they love to get into water, too…shower, anyone?!
Have a wonderful Tuesday, TDK-ers!
Now that has to be an oxymoran…cats in the water! I would like to see them take a bath and see if they like it. I bet they are loads of fun. Triple the fun.

Sounds delicious!! Thanks for sharing!! Can’t wait to try it!
Sounds yummy - I can’t wait to try it. Why is it called Cowboy Coffee Cake?
no idea
Maybe because my mom is a Cowboy’s fan
The Cowboys are a sports team?
So what team are you a fan of??
Hello Instinct
I was just wondering if that’s baseball or what as I know very little about sport - I can then look them up online. This is the only site i’ve ever posted on and one of the reasons I like it is that I find things out that wouldn’t otherwise come my way.
Dallas Cowboys — they are a foot ball team.
I agree.. I learn so much from this site!
Dallas Cowboys. They play football. After pondering “sports Cowboys” for a while, my brain remembered the phrase “Dallas Cowboys”. I was pretty sure they played football, but googled ‘em to make sure. I’m a baseball fan, myself.
Thank you
Hockey fan…..Montreal Canadiens!! GO HABS!! I do cheer on the Tampay Lightning too!!
How can we not, LeeAnne?!
Hey Dee!
Never miss a Lightning game on the tube!! I’ve been to a couple games too, really nice stadium! Might try to go to another game b4 the season ends!
Well, being as we’re Redskins fans in our house, I may pull a face or two. Just kidding! I WILL make the Cowboy Coffee Cake, I’ll just leave out the “Cowboy” part when I serve it to my husband.
Redskins!!!! Why not watch Pro Football instead
Okay Instinct, ya trying to start something here? I’ll have to admit the Redskins have sucked but there’s always next season (sigh)!
born just 6o miles from INDY GO COLTS[ON BEEN IN OHIO 18MO]
Good Evening All….missed everyone this morning….these are some real cuties….and to all the football people out there….the only good team is…..THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES….:)

I don’t know….. sounds like a tall tale to me
Sorry, to make sour milk add 2 TBS of vinegar to the 1 cup of milk.
Thanks for that, Instinct. I assume that the liquid ingredients go in with the baking powder, soda and spices? Your procedure doesn’t say. Do you think buttermilk would work as well as sour milk?
Catherine
Yes, exactly. Sorry about that on the directions.
I’m not sure. I know the vinegar reacts with the baking soda to help with the rise, so maybe buttermilk with the vinegar would work.
All I can say is give it a shot and let me know how it turns out
You can use lemon juice too.
You mean like the Tom Horn, Wyatt Earp, Dodge City kind of Cowboy.
Sorry, I was just as dissapointed when I learned that girl scout cookies weren’t made with real girl scouts. My wife told me that
That said, I shudder to think what goes in “baby oil…”
or catnip…I never heard of a nip on a cat. where is that ??
or buffalo wings
or Flo on “alice” who was always saying ‘kiss my grits’…
chicken fingers
worse, what exactly are they doing to some of the olive oil?
Instinct–I love recipes like this because one usually has these ingredients on hand—sounds very homey…
Oh, and to make sour milk (I posted it up higer) add 2 tablespoons of vinegar to 1 cup of milk
Instinct: Now I know why you like coming here everyday; so many girls fawning over you! haha! Like the only brother in a family of girls, we all gather round you.
I don’t see where the sour milk and eggs come in?? Is it after you add the spices?
Also, sour milk… is that exactly what it sounds like? Milk that past it’s date?
What precious babies!!
Good morning! What cute little fuzz faces and blue eyes! I can see who is the queen of that castle.
I love all the recipes, cat care advice and news here as well as the company of other cat fanatics.
Adorable, especially Aurora (I love her name. It was my beloved mom’s name.)
Good morning Tiger, Bumblebee, BraniLee and everyone.
Hey kittenmaster
Hope you all have a wonderful day
hugs

That is a fantastic idea, MerD!
Great idea! I’ll be contributing some favorite recipes for sure!
You are going to get a ton of emails!!!! Do you want the recipes in the body of the text or in a word doc attachment?
How about both…..Like I said, still kicking around ideas.
OR either- just make sure to put TDK-name of reciepe so I can tell the difference between spam and real.
Wonderful Idea, MerD. Thanks for helping. And Tiger, well said!
So happy you are going with the cookbook idea. I will look up my favorites for you.
I just came upon the kitten page…I recipie book sounds wonderful, perhaps, some good lowfat type, since I had 2 heartattacks in April finding “good stuff” to eat is hard to do.
I live in Iowa, by the way
Juanita — sorry to hear about your health troubles. TWO heart attacks in one month must be very difficult to recover from. I wish you all the best.
Yes it was, I didn’t know I had, one, but the second one was considered “moderate”, and scary. But the worse part was losing my beloved “puppy” TedEbear, just one month following my heartattacks.
