How adorable is this sweet kitty. Why is it that after kitty stage they are not interested in mirrors? My Taffy tried to hog the mirror when I was putting on make up then lost interest later.

I’ve heard that cats rely more on their sense of smell as they get older. They even have olfactory glands in their mouths - that’s why sometimes a cat will have a partially open mouth when they’re sniffing something particularly interesting. Maybe that’s why Taffy doesn’t react to the kitty in the mirror anymore.
As cute as this kitten is it doesnt look as if its tail is in the same position. Its a vey cute kitten. I will be adopting a kitten soon and I cant wait until i get to bring it home. I hope I get one as cute as this !
She’s also definitely got that left paw up and ready to SMACK! the nose of the intruder.

It just started snowing about 10 minutes ago. My babes are good today, yesterday was the crazy day here. I washed & dried all their bedding and soft fuzzy blankies this morning and now they are all snuggled in and taking naps. Amazing how much fur I get in the lint trap while drying. I have to clean it every few minutes or I think the dryer would explode. I’m sure you have the same issues because you have 10 more fur producers.
I’m glad the headache is better. I don’t get them often, but when I do I don’t handle them well. I can empathize with the suffering.

I read you had a headache too. I had a bad migrane all day yesterday. Haven’t had one like that for a long while. Are your boo boos all healed now?? Hope so.
I am all prepared if the power goes out. I took my shower, did all the wash, dishes, filled 2 jugs with water, etc. The only thing I didn’t get was batteries for my radio. I have rainchecks for some, but never had the extra $ to get them yet. Oh well…..

It’s been snowing here for an hour. It started out slow and now is really coming down.
I think I ate too much sugar yesterday, that’s why the headache. I don’t think Brandi had one, I think sometimes people get myself and Brandi Lee mixed up. Oue names are so similar. It’s okay… I think it’s SO sweet that people with such kind hearts comment and wih us well. I really feel loved here!!
Congratulations on a wonderful shot. You are either very lucky or a really good planner. Tiffin looks so much like my 10 mo. old Cuddles (a.k.a., Minky-Mink). I’ll bet Tiffin is just as cuddly and soft too.

It just started here about 15 minutes ago. I keep hoping it won’t be as bad as predicted. Since I can’t work anymore, at least I don’t have to worry about the hassle of driving in the snow. Have to have some compensation, and I guess that’s it. But I did pay my dues for many years and was always nervous driving on ice.

Not having to drive in snow may be compensation for your back pain, but I think battling bad weather is easier to live with than the constant back pain you have had.

I live in NJ, and we got the snow. I believe the law that you are refering to about going grocerey shopping right before a storm, is called the “French Toast Law”. As by law you must buy milk, eggs and of course bread.

If you look at the tail, the one in mirror is above ground with shadow and for the original one its rested on ground!
Curious….. I didn’t notice, but it does look odd now that you mentioned it.
Hmmm… The light seems to be coming from behind the kitty, so it projects a shadow on the mirror but not on the floor. Both Tiffin and her reflection appear to have the tail raised. Looks real to me.
I have to experiment and find out how shadows work with reflection; moreover can shadow be prominent in reflection than the source of image itself !

Yes that’s what I am wondering.. Mirror image can have shadow but it can not be darker than the real one!

Good observation. It isn’t a reflection, either 2 kitties, or photoshopped.
Only one kitty, and absolutely not photoshopped - that would be cheating. I have two others taken at the same time and in both the shadow in the reflection is visible. The central light in the room was behind me; perhaps the flash cancelled it out in the ‘real’ Tiffin but not in the mirror-image. Obviously the camera was pointed downwards so as not to bounce the flash off the mirror.

I had one of mine, do something like that. She seen her reflection in the trim on my car and started playing with her own reflection. It was so cute! I would’ve loved to had that on video.
HaaaaHaaaaa! How cute! Kittens -n- mirrors are one of my favorite things about kittens. One of mine, Pedro, would try to spar with a 12 inch ceramic cat statue I have on the floor by the couch. He’d hump up his back, flatten his ears and puff up his tail and bounce all around it. I frequently found the poor statue lying on its side after Pedro apparently would “win” a battle with it.

Hey everyone, I had a disappointing experience yesterday. I was on the kittenwar sit, clicking on cute kitten photos, when all of a sudden I saw my photo of my kittens that I had submitted to this site last month. The kittens had been given different names, but it was definitely my photo. It turns out the day after my photo appeared on this site, it was stolen and posted as if it belonged to them. I know that we all take chances when we put our photos up, since they can be so easily downloaded, but if the person who did this is reading right now… you should be ashamed.
Wow. What a shock that must have been. I’ve noticed this happening with multiple kitties only with different names on that site. Obviously someone thought you had winners, hmm? Yes, whoever it was should be deeply ashamed. That’s stealing.
Absolutely nuts that people would do that! Bailey, the kit of the day (jan 30)showed up as Rose on catster. Some people seriously need to get a life or at least a kitty of their own.

To be honest, if you put your picture on the Internet, it’s like leaving money on the ground and expecting no-one to pick it up. Thousands of images on the Kittenwar site have been downloaded and used as avatars, etc on other sites - you just have to live with it. There’s almost certainly no malice involved in the theft - people just assume that it’s OK to do so… and it’s really not worth fretting over.
If you absolutely don’t want pictures to be used for other purposes, then the one way to make sure is to not put them on the Internet. As for disabling right-click, this doesn’t really make any difference - there are other ways to copy images, besides which there are plenty of legitimate reasons to use right-click.

Interesting….. I had trouble earlier in the day posting too!
No problems or errors are showing up at the moment. There was a power outage ot the hosting company earlier, so it may have had something to do with that… but the best thing do do if a comment doesn’t appear it to try again. If the problem can’t be repeated, it’s nearly impossible to find out what the cause of the issue might be.
How odd that the Lacanians so rarely theorize the mirror stage with regard to our feline friends. Based on this photo, there’s clearly rich interpretive work yet to be done.

with me in hot pursuit. Waiting in the cab;my wife not wanting the cab driver to know that the house would be empty for the night obviously without my knowledge ,explains to the driver that I will be out soon and says,”He’s just gone upstairs to say goodnight to his mother ”
A few minutes later Iget into the cab ,exclaiming”Sorry for taking so long “,asthe cab pulled away from the house .”That stupid b c h was hiding under the bed and I had to chase her out with a coat hanger .
She tried to take off so I grabbed her by the neck .Then I had to quickly wrap her in a blanket to keep her from scratching and biting me .But it worked ! I hauled her fat behind downstairs and threw her out into the backyard.The cab driver was so astonished upon hearing this horrid account that he hit a parked car.

My boyfriend’s cat used to do this all the time when we first brought him home, but that was because he had a twin brother, so whenever he’d see himself in the mirror, he’d look back and go “….nyeow?” and i’d have to cuddle him and tell him his brother was still at the shelter!! (luckily his bro soon found a forever home

I have a family of three…….all grown up now, but still my babies.
Would love to adopt another…..but not sure if I would be dis-owned by my pride now.
I think Bud would actually pack up a sack of his stuff and leave….he was with the condo when I purchased it and in the 7 years I have added two more to the nest……needless to say he was not very pleased.

Bud is spayed………he had a rough life prior to me moving in.
When he was a kitten, he was terrorized by a child…….who thought he was a doll and other such toys……so it took him months to settle down and not be skittish with me and my former husband……he is less skittish now, but he still is leary about some things.
So when I decided I wanted to add another it took him time to adjust with each one…..which is normal, but I think now he would just say that is it now….no more…..pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Sorry to hear about his wretched childhood. I think you are right then, he deserves peace and privacy. It isn’t easy to gain the trust of a scared and ill-treated animal - kudos to you.

I can so relate to your issue. I have five cats and I long for more. Four of my cats are littermates, so they all grew up together, and there are times when I feel a little deprived. I would have loved to have had four individual kittenhoods, but I would not have traded them for anything. I got them right after my mom passed away, and they were the best therapy ever.
There are several ferals who live around my house, and two of them I think are abandoned housepets, as they do respond to me when I feed them and allow me to pet them. I wish I could bring them into my house but my one girl cat, Desdemona, simply would not put up with that.
I did one effort at kitten rescue, when I rescued three little baby girl kittens, and once I brought them into my house, even though I put them in the bathroom, Desdemona was really pissed off at me. She usually sleeps on my pillow and washes my face every night, and when the rescue kittens were in my house, she refused to sleep with me. Plus, when I would approach her to pet her, she would turn her back on me. It TOTALLY hurt my feelings! Clearly, she has me wrapped around her paws, all four of them.
I have another rescue kitten, now cat, that I kept. My little Rufus, who is a boy cat, and all the other boys have accepted him, and incorporated him into the clowder, but Desdemona still is quite reserved with him, as she is with everyone except for me.
I believe that her ideal world would be one in which she would be an only cat, and her mommy (me) would spend 25 hours a day with only her.
Anyway, my biggest retirement dream now is that I find a big old house, on the shore somewhere, and fill it with cats. My boyfriend always looks askance at this, but I think he’s in. He hasn’t quite gotten over the passing of his cat, Greycat, and has been resistant to my efforts to get him to take on another pet, but I think he is just waiting for when we move in together with all my animals.
I think you have done a great thing, providing Bud with a happy home, and he deserves the peace and quiet of his retirement years. There will be many opportunities to acquire more babies after he crosses the Rainbow Bridge. Good Luck–
Just to reply to a lot of your kind commends about my dear little Tiffin…..the picture is a reflection, honestly; I think that the shadow in the mirror comes from the flash. Tiffin isn’t a Bengal, she’s 100 per cent moggy; her Mum is a little black cat living on a local horse farm and she was one of four little girl babies, two others like her and one ginger. Dad is unknown! Like all my cats, she is named after a famous racehorse; her current housemates are Cobweb (tabby girl) and Kandy (longhaired Black-and-white girl). Tiffin is nearly six months old now and is an absolute delight, friendly, loving, gentle and confident with the loudest, and most often-used, purr you will ever hear.
Living in Newmarket, I guess your cats would just have to be named after racehorses…

why you should never question a drunk:
A woman was shopping at her local supermarket where she selected the following items :
One half gallon of 2% milk
One dozen carton of eggs
One head of romain lettuce
One 2 lb. bag of coffee and
A 1lb. package of bacon
As she was unloading her items onto the conveyor belt to check out
a drunk stood behind her and watched as she placed the items in front ofthe cashier .
While the cashier was ringing up her purchases,the drunk calmly said “You must be single”
The women was a bit startled by this proclaimation but she was intrigued by the derelicts intuition since she was indeed single .
She looked at her 6 items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about her selections that could have tipped of the drunk
as to her marital status.Curiousity got the best of her,so she asked;
“Well,your absolutly right but how on earth did you know I was single?
The drunk replied,”Because your ugly.”
